Trump Lawyers Fight as Insider Was Reportedly ‘Waved Off’ Searching for Docs

Politics • Views: 15,310

Donald Trump’s lawyers are reportedly worried there might be a “snitch,” which is, of course, a totally normal concern for a former president.

/s

The Guardian reporting Donald Trump’s lawyer, Evan Corcoran, was “waved off” from searching Trump’s office for classified documents. A Trump spokesperson denied that allegation. Special Counsel Jack Smith is reportedly eyeing possible obstruction charges as his documents probe nears the finish line. The Guardian’s Hugo Lowell, who broke the story, discusses his reporting with MSNBC’s Katie Phang, calling the revelations “really important” to the obstruction investigation, adding Smith already “pierced the attorney client privilege” between Trump and lawyer Evan Corcoran. Florida attorney for Palm Beach County also delivers analysis on where this case might be heading.

to be honest, I’m surprised by the amount of loyalty that we’ve seen from Trump minions, especially so when all of his previous modus operandi has shown that he thinks that anyone who works for him is essentially expendable as soon as their usefulness has ended. He has no issues with underbussing anyone, at any time.

Yeah, I don’t get it. Do these minions they’re gonna be the special one or something? Hell, Trump would cheerfully throw his own kids under the bus if he had to.

Sycophantic suckups never think that they’re going to get underbussed. They always think someone else is gonna get the tour under the bus treatment. They’ll do whatever it takes to make sure someone else is delivered under the bus. That’s why everyone seems to think someone is “snitching” about all of Trump’s crimes.

The problem is that probably a bunch of Trump lawyers are recognizing that crime fraud exception is going to apply to their conduct because Trump’s crime spree is all encompassing, and asking his lawyers to cover up and paper over his crimes is itself criminal conduct - advancing and furthering a criminal conspiracy.

Grab yer popcorn.

I’ve often thought an interesting movie could be made about Jesus returning to earth as a dude with dyed hair, tattoos and piercings, but otherwise being the same Jesus as described in the Bible.

The movie of course, would be about how this version of Christ is mistreated and maligned (even to the point of being shot at and jailed) by people who claim to worship him.

McCarthy is looking to gut the safety net that Americans pay in to separately via payroll taxes. Why? Because the GOP is committed to delivering more tax cuts for billionaires and to starve poor people (and old people) and to make sure that folks can’t get necessary health care, housing, food assistance, or other social services.

These people are cruel, malicious, and don’t care about anyone other than their billionaire backers.

They are explicitly cruel and malicious. They are also quite intent on doing the most damage possible to their own base - who are often the recipients of these very programs and rely on them to subsist and survive.

This will come up again, especially when the GOP starts caterwauling about undocumented persons getting benefits (they can’t), or that there are welfare queens (there really aren’t), or that black people are disproportionately benefiting - they aren’t and still suffer from institutionalized racism inherent in the system.

have to admit that I’m kind of done doubting Biden and his legislative chops. If there’s a failure, it will be due to GOP intransigence not anything Biden did or didn’t do. Regardless of whatever narrative the media promotes.

My guess is even if the GOP publicly commits seppuku over this, then Biden has moves already in hand such as invoking the 14th amendment after illustrating that the GOP is simply not fit to govern or simply ignoring them and stating that the bills must be paid and he’s directing the Treasury to pay them, period. If the GOP wants to sue him over the paying of previously accrued debt and say that they have the right to default, I’m sure that’s a winning argument in the eyes of the public.

the deadline still looms - just days away, so there’s not gonna be another round of negotiations where the freedum nutters demand (and get) more (no time, and that’s ludicrous anyway)

instead Biden says ‘we tried bipartisanship’, etc

It can be done, but you have to remember to bolt on the wings.

Preliminary findings indicate that “the wings of the aircraft became detached from the fuselage and fell to the ground in an orchard,” Sheriff Christopher Bourke said in a news release Monday. The fuselage continued west for another 1,000 to 1,500 yards before crashing.

That is allowed. John Denver crashed an experimental plane.

A special airworthiness certificate in the experimental category is issued to operate an aircraft that does not have a type certificate or does not conform to its type certificate and is in a condition for safe operation. Additionally, this certificate is issued to operate a primary category kit-built aircraft that was assembled without the supervision and quality control of the production certificate holder.

Special airworthiness certificates may be issued in the experimental category for the following purposes: (long list follows)

Here is all you have to know about Michigan politics:

If the wings fell off in flight according to preliminary reports, it reads like either someone was skimping on required aircraft inspections, or the aircraft was sabotaged. (I could see the latter considering what the doctor was accused of.)

It was Medicare he talked about — and that will hurt a lot of his base. Affluent elderly don’t rely on their Social Security benefit so much — and can manage comfortably with reduced income from that source. Medicare is what is essential to them and they will not be happy to learn that the GOP may be hacking away at these benefits. Only the very wealthy can manage without health insurance; the merely affluent need this money to pay for the illnesses that strike us when we are aged.

House prices in my hometown are insane. You can’t get a house there for less than $150,000. We had a friend, a real workaholic who sold his company (built from scratch) and took early retirement. They bought a new farm and remodeled the house and facilities, then he purchased a kit airplane and built it from scratch, with some help from one of his sons. He was super careful, and careful in how he flew it (learned to fly after retirement as well). His wife was a nervous flyer, and she eventually was convinced to be comfortable in it. They flew it everywhere, never trying anything dumb.

After he was killed (by a trucker who fell asleep and ran over the top of them), the family had a devil of a time getting it certified enough to be able to sell it properly, but they were successful eventually. That trucker, and the firm that forced him to drive beyond his limits, could never have been punished enough. His wife was completely disabled by the accident as well. Horrible end for such dear people.

“…Several voting rights groups, including the ACLU of Texas and MALDEF, are suing Texas due to the Secretary of State office’s refusal to turn over documents related to their newest “voter purge” effort. Under the direction of Texas Secretary of State John Scott, the office flagged 11,197 registered voters as potential noncitizens then forced county elections departments to send warning letters to every one of those people. If those contacted didn’t mail proof of citizenship within 30 days, they were automatically unregistered to vote.

Almost immediately, counties noticed that the list the Secretary of State sent them included an overwhelming number of wrongly-flagged U.S. born and naturalized citizens. This is a scaled-down repeat of what happened in 2019, when Gov. Abbott prompted former Secretary of State David Whitley to prosecute almost 100,000 legitimate Texas voters based on faulty data.”

Indeed. Indeed it is. And how do we know that’s it’s propagandistic BS (and I’d call that bulkshit) - because no group has engaged in more acts of violence and institutionalized violence against others in the US than white folks. Whether you’re talking about the race massacres across the nation following the Civil War, thousands of lynchings, or genocidal conduct towards Native Americans, white folks have seen it as their mission to impose their whims and will on everyone else by force.

And they deny resources to all other groups so as to make those other groups fight for the scraps.

When Arizona Republican legislators recently debuted a committee that was accused of QAnon signaling with its acronym, chair and state Sen. Janae Shamp responded by claiming it was “a goofy accusation.” But a review of her Facebook posts found that Shamp has frequently promoted the conspiracy theory: She has posted QAnon videos; forwarded conspiracy theories from QAnon influencers; and shared QAnon slogans, including the phrase of the acronym in question.

Republicans in Arizona set up a committee chaired by Shamp to purportedly “examine federal, state and local efforts to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic.” (Its most recent hearing was filled with COVID-19 conspiracy theories.) They named it the Novel Coronavirus Southwestern Intergovernmental Committee, using the acronym “NCSWIC.” Reporters and QAnon experts soon raised questions about whether they were nodding to QAnon, which uses NCSWIC to stand for “nothing can stop what is coming.” (QAnon followers basically believe what’s coming is Trump arresting or destroying the supposed deep state.)

Arizona state Senate GOP spokesperson Kim Quintero called the line of questioning about QAnon “absolutely ridiculous” and “BS.” And Shamp responded to the controversy by tweeting: “What a goofy accusation! Sometimes an acronym is just an acronym.”

Yet Shamp herself has repeatedly shared the phrase “nothing can stop what is coming.” And her Facebook page leaves no doubt that she’s a QAnon devotee who is deeply immersed in the violence-linked conspiracy theory.

Marjorie Taylor Greene teases release of Jan. 6 tapes

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Wednesday teased the release of security camera footage from the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol to several news agencies.

The right—wing congresswoman in a tweet confirmed that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Ca.) had provided conservative commentators John Solomon and Julie Kelly, along with an unnamed third outlet, “unfettered” access to the tapes.

“I’m excited to share the good news that, just as I promised, the J6 tapes are being released!” Greene tweeted.

@SpeakerMcCarthy has given @jsolomonReports, @Julie_kelly2 , and a third outlet unfettered access to the J6 tapes, and their reporting on it starts tomorrow.

U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) exploded in a committee hearing on child care on Wednesday after he introduced a book designed to help children understand race, and declared he opposes socialism and wants schools to teach about Jesus Christ instead.

Sen. Mullin, a former U.S. Congressman who once told a House Democrat to “shut up,”began by explaining how expensive it is for private companies to set up child care - the topic of the hearing - but quickly transformed the hearing into one on race, socialism, and religion.

He wove a web that started with his concerns over “federalizing” education, which he declared is socialism. He then attacked the committee chairman, Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who heads the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), for being a “self-declared democratic socialist.” That led to his claim that the book he opposes, “Our Skin: A First Conversation on Race,” would be taught nationwide.

Sen. Mullin said he opposes the book because it teaches young children that the concept of race, especially the white race, was created by white people to place themselves above other people with different skin - which has been documented in numerous studies, reports, articles, and books.

Senator Mullin, who supports a federal vigilante “Don’t Say Gay” bill, tried to get members of the panel to support his desire for schools to teach about Jesus instead.

“I have a book here in here in front of me called ‘Our Skin,’” Mullin told the committee, “and I’m going to read exactly what this book says. You guys might find it interesting. ‘A long time ago, way before you were born, a group of white people made up an idea called race. They sorted people by skin color and said that white people were better, smarter, prettier, and they deserved more than everybody else.’ This would be taught if we socialized our pre-K system, this would be taught.”

“How about we teach Jesus Loves Me?” Mullin demanded. “How about how about this? And teaching ‘Jesus Loves the Little Children.’ The lyrics go, ‘Red and yellow, black and white. They’re all precious in our sight.’ Now, which one would you think would be better? I’ll ask everybody on the panel, which is better to teach? This, that is a story that was made up to teach kids, three year olds who have no idea what race is.”

‘We want dictator Trump’: America First activist publicly calls for ‘Trumpian Reich’

Tyler Russell, a Canadian nationalist leader of the America First movement, has called for Donald Trump to be installed as “dictator” in a “Trumpian Reich.”

In a clip obtained by Right Wing Watch, Russell told the audience of his daily broadcast about his vision for a Trump government.

“All of these DeSantis, you know, libertarian populist people that are like, we need to actually have political substance,” he complained. “No, I don’t give a f—k about that, okay? I don’t care about your political substance.”

“I want a Trump Reich,” he continued. “And I want Trump’s face to be, you know, projected onto every single tallest skyscraper in every city around America, okay?”

Russell insisted that his followers did not want “freedom.”

“We want a total Trumpian Reich, okay?” he said. “That’s what we want. We want a total Trumpian Reich. We want dictator Trump.”

“We want Trump to rule forever and ever and make America great again,” Russell added. “And we want all these people who are acting in bad faith, who are traitors to this nation, to go to jail. That’s what we want.”

Hmm, I had seen videos about making aluminum casts of fire ant colonies, but not about larger colonies, such as this abandoned one. And some ant ‘sites’ are huge and consist of multiple colonies.

From the description of the documentary . (With the emphasis being on the word ‘known’.)

“The largest colony known of these insects is in Japan, where 306 million ants, with 1 million queens, in 45,000 colonies spread over 270 hectares.”

If TFG actually believes the stolen documents were his/de-classified, someone in the media needs to ask him a simple question: “Please tell us the details in those documents”.

If he divulges the content, he can be tried for treason. Or, he has to backtrack and say he can’t divulge because they are not de-classified. But, in reality, he would likely give some 5 minute rant about Hunter Biden’s cock pics.

The two answers that immediately jump to my mind would be MBS and Bibi. The Saudi military is mostly a joke though (which is why we’ve been responsible for their defense for the last 30 years or so). And while I’m sure Bibi would love to start that war, I can’t imagine the Israeli public would be on board.

From there, I’m not sure who makes sense… though I suppose Putin would like to see it just for the insight it would give if his nightmare of a NATO invasion was ever even a remote possibility.

Because Republicans didn’t have 218 of their own members to approve the rule, Democrats worked to provide enough of their own to keep the bill moving along. Democrats who backed the rule — mostly moderates — waited until the vote was nearly closed, then recorded their votes quickly to get it over the top.

“House Democrats are going to make sure the country doesn’t default. Period. Full stop,” Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) told reporters after a party caucus meeting.

Democrats stressed that their support for the initial parliamentary vote would not come without a price. In exchange, the Democratic leader will win a private pledge for concessions from McCarthy on legislation considered this summer or fall.

There’s a play in poker called a squeeze.

Preflop (first round of betting) Player 1 raises, Player 2 calls, Player 3 re-raises. Sometimes things get really fun and Player 1 or 2 will raise again. In this case, McCarthy seems to be caught in the double squeeze. Biden raised, he called, the HFC re-raised, and now the House Dems came flying in to raise as Player 4.

Actor Danny Masterson found guilty of 2 counts of rape in Los Angeles re-trial, months after jurors couldn’t come to a unanimous decision in first trial

insider.com

A Los Angeles jury convicted”That 70’s Show” actor Danny Masterson of two counts of rape on Wednesday, in a re-trial of an explosive case.

Jurors deliberated for close to 8 days — longer than the first trial — finding that Masterson was guilty of two counts of rape against two women. Masterson’s wife Bijou Phillips sobbed audibly when the verdict was announced, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Jurors were hung on a third count of rape, according to the Times. Last year, during Masterson’s first trial, on November 30, jurors couldn’t come to a unanimous conclusion on any of the three charges.

This time around, prosecutors relied more on the argument that Masterson had drugged the women he raped, per The Associated Press.

So is he going to be put on the “Fair Game” list?

Anderson Clayton, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair, on Youth Power and Rural Organizing
“I want to show people that young people are so capable.
teenvogue.com

On February 11, Clayton’s insurgent campaign won. In a stunning upset, she was elected chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, and at 25 years old, became the youngest active party chair in the country, and the youngest ever elected in North Carolina.

There are Democrats that live here. They are Democrats that are tired of feeling afraid, and like, they can’t put out a yard sign. The fearmongering is so strong and so prevalent in their communities that they can’t even vocalize how they really feel about something and the issues they’re passionate about.

The Democratic Party fundamentally left behind rural areas. When we started to see demographic shifts and changes in our country about where Democratic voters were going to live, we started to leave out whole populations of geographic areas where Democrats still exist. People ask me all the time, “What did it feel like to organize in 2020 in the heart of ‘Trump Country’?” I tell people that I didn’t organize in the heart of “Trump Country”; I organized in the heart of a place where people felt like government had failed them, because they didn’t see that government was actually working for them.

True!

She followed and shoved a counter demonstrator. And grabbed at some of the equipment the counter demonstrator was carrying. Then dropped some of it onto the ground.

A later post did say that the mother was released that night. Hadn’t heard anything about charges being dropped.

The original was already mistreated and maligned by people who claimed they were waiting for a Messiah. They just didn’t like the version they wound up with because he said uncomfortable things like “You’re doing Torah wrong. Take the freakin’ cart out of the ditch, even though it’s Saturday.”

re: #57 piratedan

have to admit that I’m kind of done doubting Biden and his legislative chops.

If the GOP wants to sue him over the paying of previously accrued debt and say that they have the right to default, I’m sure that’s a winning argument in the eyes of the public.

my guess would be that, if republicans manage to fuck this up, Democrats will bring out the discharge petition as a kind of a deus ex machina, and then that will give “moderate” Republicans a chance finally to put up or shut up.

Hello, fabulous subscriber of our newsletter,

This is Marcus from Ulysses, and I’m about to tell you something newsworthy. But first I need to make a statement:

**I love Elon Musk**. Elon is one of my favorite people on Earth, on the Moon, and of course on Mars. He’s a great innovator, probably a fantastic lover and an overall nice guy. I wish I was as smart as him. Or just 1% as smart as him. I also love Twitter and what he has done with it. Twitter was great before Elon, and it’s much better now. It’s a haven for free speech, a civilized marketplace of ideas, and it should be the blueprint for all social media apps going forward. I also applaud it for teaching kids how to behave in public.
