It was clear that the caucus vote showed that no one had enough votes to get the Speakership, but they’re going to go ahead with this shit show anyways.

That’s by design, because the delay obstructs govt operations, and adds to the urgency knowing that the last CR was only 45 days long, and the GOP are eating up all that time trying to figure out who the Speaker is to negotiate with Democrats, knowing that they can’t pitch anything to anyone in the caucus without spurring yet another vote to vacate.
