This reminds me of a joke from Russia I heard on a podcast recently: a Russian man finds a lantern and a genie comes out offering to grant just one wish, but explains that whatever he wishes for the man’s neighbor will get, too. So, the man’s elation vanished and he said, “fine, poke my eye out.”
