GOP Crazy of the Day: Gay Marriage is Like Inanimate Object Marriage

Wingnuts • Views: 6,793

You know that religious right talking point about gay marriage that goes, “Slippery slope! Where does it end? Marrying horses?”

Well, the GOP’s candidate for Lt. Governor of Wisconsin, Rebecca Kleefisch, takes it up a notch by comparing gay marriage to marrying a table. Or a clock.

“We can’t at this point afford to just be handing out money to anyone,” Rebecca Kleefisch told WVCY, a local Christian station while discussing her opposition to domestic partner benefits for gay state employees.

“This is a slippery slope in addition to that — at what point are we going to OK marrying inanimate objects? Can I marry this table, or this, you know, clock? Can we marry dogs? This is ridiculous.”

After being slammed by gay rights organizations and bloggers who recently turned up the interview from earlier in the year, the 35-year-old apologized on Thursday.

IMHO the state should get out of the business of issuing marriage licenses altogether. It is a vestigial church-state connection if you ask me. The state can issue civil unions; then if you want a church involved, find one to your liking.

I’m sorry for the heavy worded response on this, but:

Fuck her and those who think like her.

Even Jesus himself would think that’s insane for crying out loud! Have these people ever actually READ the Bible?

Someone who is a true Christian is someone who aspires to me as much like CHRIST as possible. Christ never did a SINGLE hateful thing and yet these so called Christian people spew hatred like Coke out of a vending machine.

Regardless of my personal beliefs about the homosexual lifestyle, gays are HUMAN BEINGS who are entitled to the same basic rights and freedoms as everyone else in this country. Why is this so hard for some people to get? I absolutely refuse to view someone who is gay as not equal to myself in any way.

Can’t we learn to embrace our similarities rather than put up walls due to our differences? When it comes right down to it, we all bleed red.

And that’s really what these “slippery slope” canards are all about. With comparisons to bestiality, and now friggin’ tables for crap’s sake, you can obviously see that folks like Kleefisch simply do not consider homosexuals to be actual human beings.

I’m not saying that. It just that, you know, there’s costumes and then there’s the “Sexy” costumes.

I think I’m understanding you, but that link won’t prove it :)

The Underground Conservative – “Rebecca Kleefisch is the real conservative in the race.”

I think people who want to create a permanent underclass of less-than-full-citizens based on sexual preference are not so much conservative as radical reactionaries, but they seem to have absconded with the label.

I recently lost both my folks…….losing my dad was harder than losing my mom because it was out of the blue (my mom had dementia for years)……. I understand how you feel. Time, let’s say…….. helps.

I put one in my hair with blood dripping down my face too. SEXY for the right guy!! lol

You have to practice your screeching. Or maybe you have that down already!

One Halloween, me and my g/fs fashioned some ghoul costumes at the last minute. One friend put on a long black nightie, painted her face white and frizzed out her hair, black eyes, blood down her neck. We hit South Beach and walked up to the sophisticated clientele sipping cocktails by the ocean and started SCREECHING. My g/f was awesome. She really could have been in the movies.

99 First As Tragedy, Then As Farce  Fri, Oct 29, 2010 5:59:27pm

Here’s some more scary Halloween stuff in the form of a 20-minute anti-Tea Party rant from Keith Olberman. It’s nothing that LGF readers aren’t already aware of, but it’s somewhat jarring to hear it all laid out at once.

My suspicion is that no matter how the election turns out, the real bad craziness starts Wednesday.

Ever.

Maybe her fabulous mother, Ingrid Begman

Any movie that has a scene with full frontal Isabella Rossellini deserves to be watched several times.

She certainly won the gene pool lottery.

Resemblance much?

No need for injury. If you’ve followed all the posts about the Bad Crazy in the GOP that have been here on LGF then none of what Keith says in that video is new. It’s just startling to see it all compiled in one long segment. The Republicans really have gone off the rails.

I dislike Olberman specifically because he apparently thinks he’s Edward R. Murrow, which is sort of like Justin Bieber thinking he’s Kurt Cobain. But that particular clip is well worth watching (or listening to whilst you do other things).

Props on taking the high ground, friend. Not only is the real estate uncrowded, the view is better and so is the company.
