Gary Abernathy is publisher and editor of Ohio’s Hillsboro Times-Gazette, a newspaper that endorsed Trump for President. He is a Republican who supports party over all and was an effort by the Washington Post to include the views of Trump supporters in their columns. You know because major newspapers must hire columnists and publish their views no matter how dishonest or racist they may be.

Late to this, but…

Here’s the problem: It isn’t clever…but it’s effective. It’s effective because the media has been conditioned to report every single goddamn motherfucking utterance by a GOPer at face value and give it immediate credence. So when these assholes try to pull the reverse racism card…it’s treated as the most valid and crucial of concerns even when the initial, well-founded accusation of racism to begin with was pooh-poohed to fuck and back.

So the point isn’t to be clever: it’s to work. And it does, because that’s where the fuck we are in this country.

Am busy imagining the extremely calm reactions from conservatives if we learned that President Hillary Clinton had ordered her chief of staff to give her corrupt son-in-law a top secret clearance over the strenuous objections of career White House security professionals & the CIA

5:11 PM - Feb 28, 2019]

How would she have time? The GOP would have impeached her during her first month in office and would have refused to confirm any nominations she made to any office.

Folks need to be up front and honest. The whole concept of “illegal immigration” began because the white US didn’t want non-whites in this country. Period.

And the twits haven’t bothered to changed their arguments (or even the wording) in 160 years.

Do you know what really scares me? With the Democratic field being so crowded, it is actually possible that Bernie can scoop up the nomination the same way Trump scooped up the GOP nom in 2016, just because of name recognition. I hope that doesn’t happen, but if it does then Putin will own both major party candidates and probably also the Greens and Libertarians.

NEW: Trump ordered Kelly to grant Kushner a top-secret clearance last year, overruling concerns flagged by intel officials and Don McGahn. While Trump has the right legally, raises big concerns. Huge scoop by @maggieNYT @nytmike @anniekarni @adamgoldmanNYT

the important point about this story is not that the president overruled the more experienced and better informed intel officials

like he was saying something like “it’s ok, i know him, i vouch for him”

it’s that he was saying “i dont care what you found”

After 7.5 hours behind closed doors today, Michael Cohen will return to the House Intel Committee on March 6 because there’s “more to discuss.”

remember yesterday when i think AOC asked cohen who else the committee should be talking to?

House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) said that the panel will seek to interview several of the people that Michael Cohen mentioned during his six-hour testimony, including President Trump’s children Don Jr. and Ivanka, as well as Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, Axios reports.

(though they arent actually ‘children’ any more)
they’re adults who likely broke one or many laws

Citizen K  Feb 28, 2019 • 4:50:00pm

The anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death was a couple days ago. And as far beyond as using it as a learning moment as possible, it seems like even more people have decided that he was some superthug monster that deserved it than even then, and that his very existence was one of criminality. Zimmerman may not be a hero anymore, but they still treat Trayvon Martin as the most deserved self-defense ever.

That’s the key to white supremacy and the myth of inherent black criminality: It doesn’t matter that they win long as you lose. It doesn’t matter if the heroes stay heroes long as the villains continue to get treated as villains.

The backslide continues to feel like forever.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that it feels like half the people still feel like the greatest racism in the entire thing was Obama’s ‘if I had a son, he would have looked like Trayvon’ line. Just…fuck all.

1) Jared needed to submit an SF 86 to get clearance.
2) Jared omitted information on first submission (a felony).
3) Jared resubmitted, again with omissions (additional felonies).
4) Jared should not have gotten clearance as per rules in place at time.
5) Trump overruled the decision (he has right, but again shows 25A rationale for removal, to say nothing of impeachment for high crimes and exposing nation to threats by undermining US natsec by giving someone who has no right to be anywhere near classified info top secret clearance).
6) Kelly and others wrote contemporaneous statements warning about this, but did nothing.
7) Kelly and those others violated their oaths of office by allowing/enabling Trump to circumvent the rules to put his family in these positions because it undermines natsec.
8) Trump doesn’t care about the rules, and always projects like IMAX when it comes to his actions. When he breaks the law, he claims others are doing it. When he complains about Hillary’s emails, he’s signaling that he’s doing it and more. When he complains about national security and the intel community, it’s because he’s ignoring national security and our intel community.

Trump shows an absolute disregard for opsec, natsec, and proper handling of classified info. Giving Jared (and Ivanka) clearance is proof.

Not in the House. In the Senate there was a sense of Hillary’s inevitable run in 2001, but they’d already had a decade of scaring themselves

Yeah I’m sorry Mr. Vice President. I like and respect you but no Mike Pence is not that. she has performed exceptionally well, apologized for her missteps, still looks like she’s willing to learn and take advice. Prepares well, still is working for her folks at home and apparently has few fucks to give for those that see her as a threat because of who THEY represent.

If you review her work in the Cohen questioning…

she’s on point…
verifies the local ties for her district with her line of questioning
gets Cohen to identify who has the receipts that he doesn’t have
brings up the idea of insurance fraud AND tax evasion
Doesn’t feel the need to burnish her own rep with covering ground already handled and then gives up the remainder of her time

all done in less than 5 minutes…

what’s not to admire or enjoy?

I saw Vince Vaughn at O’Hare. Three day stubble, looked very hungover, being shuttled on one of those golf carts things - folded all up, like his knees to his chin folded up - probably being taken to the Admiral’s Club.

He’s VERY tall… around 6’5”.
