Trump Has a New Excuse: “I Was Lying” (Video)

Politics • Views: 15,373

YouTube

This one is on par with the usual right wing excuse when caught saying or doing something disgusting: “It was bravado. I don’t do things wrong. I do things right. I’m a legitimate person.”

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell analyzes former President Donald Trump’s latest defense in the classified documents case brought against him by Special Counsel Jack Smith, which includes the claim that the documents were not classified military plans but instead plans for a new golf course.

Trump has a big problem in that he won’t be taking the stand to tell that to the jury. I’m betting that the people he showed the document to have already had their sworn testimony locked in testifying before the grand jury.

Exclusive: Trump Made Shocking Comments About Ivanka, Says Ex-Staffer

According to Taylor’s book, the worst of the behavior was Trump’s lewd comments about his own daughter.

“Aides said he talked about Ivanka Trump’s breasts, her backside, and what it might be like to have sex with her, remarks that once led John Kelly to remind the president that Ivanka was his daughter,” Taylor writes.

“Afterward, Kelly retold that story to me in visible disgust. Trump, he said, was ‘a very, very evil man.’”

I love that every time something like this breaks about Trump all the MAGATs across the country goe into overdrive creating excuses about why what Trump’s own words said didn’t mean what they mean and then a few days later after twisting themselves into a pretzel with excuses Trump undercuts every excuse they came up with. It happens every fucking time.

Additionally, now they have to figure out a way to say that “yeah, Trump was lying on that audio and even though Trump himself admitted he was lying he’s not lying now with his excuse.”

Yeah, ever since I heard that audio tape of him leering at a 12 year old, I’ve figured he has far, far worse skeletons hiding in his closet. Mary Trump once made an offhand comment about him making an inappropriate comment to her when she was a teenager on Bob Cesca’s podcast.

Shit like this that makes it hard for me to forgive anyone who voted for Trump, regardless of how geninuely nice they appear.

The mangled wreckage of the doomed Titan sub was seen for the first time Wednesday — 10 days after it imploded, killing all five passengers on a deep-sea tour of the Titanic.

Several large chunks of the submersible were hauled ashore, lifted by crane from the recovery ship after it docked in Canada.

Despite attempts to keep it covered, photos appeared to show mangled electronics — as well as the nose cone with its distinctive circular window, Canada Press said.

Sounds pretty reasonable, once the defect went then piledriving water comes in, everything goes overpressure instantly and the hull splits from the inside out instead of crumpling as you might think about an implosion.

Unfortunately, this is exactly what the GOP wants: Drive all the good people away and replace them with party toadies.

And that’s a problem, seen also in people encouraging others to leave red states.

Individually, it’s hard to argue with a person who is constantly harassed saying “I’m done” and leaving her position.

Collectively, it guts democracy from within.

The same goes for people encouraging others to leave red states, or those who say they are leaving. Individually, it’s tough to argue with a person who says “I want to protect my wife or daughter from draconian abortion laws” or “as a gay man I can’t abide the oppression any longer,” but collectively it makes it harder for everyone else who remains.

I’ve noted before it would only take about fifty thousand liberals if they moved there to flip Wyoming blue. No one wants to go there (and Wyoming is more liberal than where I live).

As the Great Political Sorting continues, progressives are sorting themselves into areas with fewer electoral votes and fewer states, guaranteeing minority control of the Senate and Presidency.

But the documents are likely really secret material that the DOJ would not like to come up in court. So they are being held in reserve until needed, with the hope they would not.

They have a good reputation for taking care of their employees, unlike Sam’s Club.

They have a history of promoting from within and ths have employees with years or decades of experience, in contrast to the Walmart model with its 100% annual turnover.

The problem I have with Costco is it is too popular and the parking lots are just jammed. So if I go,, it has to be a big b=visit. It is not a place to just drop in for a couple of items. Which is their business model also ;-)

President Joe Biden has recently begun using a CPAP machine to treat sleep apnea, the White House says, after indentations from straps were seen on both sides of his face Wednesday morning.

“Since 2008, the president has disclosed his history with sleep apnea in thorough medical reports. He used a CPAP machine last night, which is common for people with that history,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said.

An official familiar with the matter said Biden began using the device in recent weeks to improve sleep quality.

Those drugs have already been developed. They no longer need “educated” (I assume you mean “college educated”) people. Robots and drudge workers are just fine to produce those drugs now.

What is necessary for most developed drugs is absolute focus on the proper processes to produce the drug and then purify it. We have a worldwide shortage of methotrexate because the drudge workers did not follow procedure enough to clean out the pipes. Oversight is critical but expensive.

This becomes trickier when dealing with biologics that are being produced in cell culture. The added complexity makes it easier for batches to be ruined by poor oversight.

Training, training, training is the most important aspect, I think.

Is it possible that because of the sensitive nature of the record Smith decided not to include it in the indictment, even though they had it?

They don’t need the document attached to the tape. Everyone is forgetting that the reason the tape is damning for Trump is not because he’s supposedly waving a classified document around, but because he clearly states that he understands the process by which documents are declassified and that he understands he did not have the power to declassify after he exited the White House. It also demonstrates that he realized he was not the legitimate president which should undercut him with the people he is grifting.

Trump isn’t being charged with disseminating documents, nor in New Jersey. The value of that recording to the Florida trial is that it demonstrates that he knew the documents he was holding were classified. Doesn’t matter if he had an eyes-only document, or a roll of toilet paper in his tiny hands while they were chatting.

I am sure yours is the most likely point because the tape is straight forward instance of his crimes. I’m just speculating ;-)

After a Colorado school district started banning books, the Freedom from Religion Foundation has stepped in (with the invitation of a resident of the school district) to ban the Bible on the grounds of genocide, extreme violence, slavery, rape, incest, racism, &c.

LGBTQ Nation mischaracterises FRFF. They are not a “progressive” organisation, they are a civil rights organisation (unless you equate “civil rights” with “progressive” … now that I think about it… .)

Progressive org demands school district ban the Bible after it banned other “obscene” books (today)

The school district is in Colorado Springs.

The Goop President

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s candidacy for President might be exciting to many voters, but he’s a practiced liar and a menace to public health.

open.substack.com

I had several friends fall down this rabbit hole, and unsurprisingly many of them are now backing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for President. This is why I am beginning to worry. Kennedy is tapping into a dissatisfaction with the so-called status quo with increasing sophistication. He has the name, the money, and the eyeballs to make waves in 2024, and his confidence is clearly growing.

After the election of Donald Trump in 2016, America’s political ‘id’ should never be underestimated. If the country’s appetite for chaos and upending the status quo grows, so do Kennedy’s chances.

Electing a racist conman to the Oval Office may have been exciting to lots of Americans, but seven years and several hundred thousand dead people later, it looks like one of the worst mistakes in history. Electing a debunked conspiracy theorist who believes wifi causes cancer, ivermectin cures Covid, and vaccines cause autism would be no less idiotic.

To be clear, there is little chance Kennedy can pull this off. His polling numbers are decent but nowhere near enough to directly challenge Biden. But as Roger Stone said in an interview in April, “if I had any money, I’d send him a contribution … I think it will help in the end soften Joe Biden up for his defeat by Donald Trump”.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Two Iowa schools are now reversing the decision to allow staff to carry firearms, under the threat of losing their insurance coverage.

Spirit Lake and Cherokee Community School Districts sent letters to parents explaining why they’re backtracking on a policy which allows trained staff to carry firearms on school property.

The letter from Spirit Lake said its insurance company, EMC, warned the district in October that they were at risk of losing their coverage because of the plan to arm staff.

Staff at Spirit Lake started carrying guns in February, and a month later, EMC warned the district it could be looking at increased rates, higher deductibles, and lose some of their coverage when it’s time to renew.

In May, the district received a non-renewal notice from EMC, saying its gun policy doesn’t meet “underwriting guidelines,” meaning it’s too much of a financial risk.

‘Amen’: Caitlyn Jenner praises Nikki Haley’s anti-trans attack

alternet.org

Media personality Caitlyn Jenner, the pro-Trump former California Republican gubernatorial candidate and Olympic gold medal winner, is praising GOP 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s apparent multi-pronged attack on transgender Americans, the U.S. Armed Forces, and the Biden administration’s foreign policy - while continuing to adhere to the GOP’s agenda of injecting “communists” into her messaging.

“The Chinese Communist Party is building missiles and we’re arguing over gender pronouns. China is laughing at us,” Haley, the former Trump Ambassador to the United Nations said on Wednesday.

Despite Haley’s false suggestion that somehow the Chinese military is stronger than the American military, and despite her clear attack on transgender people, Jenner praised Haley, using just a single word with a lot of exclamation points.

“Amen!!!!!!” tweeted Jenner.

Someone is really being naive about a party that wants to strip all rights from trans people…

re: #212 sagehen

the ‘87 crash was about the Savings & Loans, deregulation… not about the economy in general.

Most crashes aren’t caused by an economic recessions; they cause economic recessions. We don’t have a healthy market by historical standards. APPL is worth more than the entire Russell 2000 combined, and more than all the stocks traded at the London stock exchange. At the peak of the .com bubble we had Cisco at a 600 billion valuation; all time high before the crash; a few other stocks were in the 500 billion+ range.
APPL is knocking on 3 trillion market cap, MSFT isn’t far behind, and Google, NVDA, and Amazon are in the trillion+ club. Inflation since 2000 in the US has been around 70% total, the GDP is around 2.5x higher. So these 5x increases in the market caps of the biggest companies since the time of the last massive bubble are real increases, not artifacts of inflation and growing GDP.

Consumer credit card debt is at record highs again, growing close to 20% year over year after declining during the covid stimulus time.

Interest rates are way higher than they were a year ago. Short term loans will be refinanced at much worse terms for businesses and consumers.

We still haven’t felt the impact of all the rate increases, there’s a lag of several months to a year.

Most companies aren’t insanely overvalued by historical standards, but the problem is that several of the biggest companies are. Those companies are responsible for most of the gains. If they correct, the markets will turn very ugly very quick.

All just my opinion, and not investment advice in any way, shape, or form.

“The Chinese Communist Party is building missiles and we’re arguing over gender pronouns. China is laughing at us,” Haley, the former Trump Ambassador to the United Nations said on Wednesday.

I’ve never understood this line of arguments… does Haley think we aren’t building missiles? Or that our military is somehow being ignored? Or that in a society of 350m people we can’t do two things at once?

On a more serious note about China’s military… when was the last time it was tested in any sort of conflict? It wasn’t that long ago that Russia was considered the second best military in the world, today they might be the third best military in Ukraine (at least until they absorb Wagner)

They live in a zero-sum world. It forms the basis of their economic, political, and social decision-making. If you are spending money, energy, or time on one thing, you must necessarily not be spending it on another thing. This concept has some relevance for individuals, but it falls apart when applied to an entire society, which has almost limitless capacity for multi-tasking.

More fundamentally, “conservatism” is just a badly-peeling coat of cheap leaded paint over the lust for power, wealth and domination by some that has cursed humanity at least since the dawn of civilization.

All conservative arguments/apologetics are axiomatically dishonest, since their primary purpose is to hide the conservative lust for power.

The story says the GOP is pissed at the insurance company so - fuck free markets - they are going to try and force them to do business with the school or else bar them from doing business anywhere in the state.

Insurance company: $1,000,000 premium per school staff member.

Or all insurance companies: Too bad Iowa’s such a low-population state. If you had a large population that might actually be a threat. Good luck finding any insurance for your schools.

Church child-molestation insurance company: We’ll do it.

Had to drive to Springfield IL for med appointment (2 new knees, on the agenda), and it was really bad in some places. Was outside only a few minutes, but my chest hurt and I had a headache by the time I got home. Glad I wasn’t in that 400 level someone was talking about! Talk to your insurance company and see if they will assist in helping you pay for the relatively small difference in cost given the longevity of compound shingle (every damn big hailstorm) and metal (20-year guarantee). USAA gives me a 10% discount on home insurance every year.

The fires will come. Hopefully not the apocalyptic conflagrations we’ve had during the drought, however. I expect there will be some this coming 4th simply because more people will be out, having bbq’s, and shooting off illegal fireworks. And, in the fall, when the Santa Ana winds blow in southern cal, the air will dry out, and conditions will be ripe for a spark to set the area ablaze.

Your rare reminder that, yes, the Go-Go’s really did come out of the freaking LA punk scene… A bit before my fav’s X but still… :D They weren’t always radio friendly pop ;)

Seen the video. They should though I know they won’t. I work with my son to not antagonize people needlessly for that reason, especially since he has a “major” mental illness on file already. It would give the pigs all the excuse they need to murder him that they need and no grand jury or civil jury will care one fucking whit.

I’m gonna be a happy idiot
And struggle for the legal tender
Where the ads take aim and lay their claim
To the heart and the soul of the spender
And believe in whatever may lie
In those things that money can buy
Where true love could have been a contender
Are you there? Say a prayer for the pretender
Who started out so young and strong only to surrender

Nah, we have bigger and better rats here in Texas. I overheard a couple them plotting outside a dollar store in Weatherford:
“OK, do we just chew through those locks when we come back tonight?”
“Nah, better bring the bolt cutters and a drill so they’ll think it was more humans.”

AFAIK: Giuliani and Trump have certain similarities besides the number of wives: neither one has displayed any real loyalty to another person that requires any sacrifice on their part but will be happy to throw anyone under the bus to help themselves. Neither one has any problem lying to others BUT Giuliani may be more cautious when testifying under oath.

Are we even surprised? I mean, there are some things that have surprised me about Trump, but his views about his daughter have been really clear over the years.

Occupy Democrats is frequently hyperbolic. Democrats don’t need that.

The actual article says that Gov. DeSantis petitioned the courts to delay the hearing. That is not abuse of power. He can petition for anything he wants from the courts; that doesn’t mean he’ll get it.

Disney has petitioned the court for a start date of July 2024.

Victoria is a “Messianic Jew” (a Liar for Jesus)

[Embedded content]

“Jews” for Jesus are not Jews, they are evangelicals pretending to be Jewish in order to convert Jews.

There is no branch of Judaism, Orthodox, Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Chabad, that believes Jesus was Messiah or even prophet. He was just some random guy who pissed off the wrong people.

Trust me, as soon as Jack Smith has probable cause to obtain a search warrant for Bedminster, he will.

It will be *airtight*, there will be NO QUESTION. And if it’s Ivana’s grave, he’s bringing a backhoe.

We are in Brooklyn now. It took an hour and a half to get through the Holland Tunnel, go across Manhattan to Brooklyn and then to Crown Heights.

Some really stupid driver switched lanes in the middle of the Holland Tunnel. Cops rolled up on her as soon as the vehicle exited the Tunnel.

If you believe that Jesus was the Christ then you are a Christian by definition, not a Jew. I believe that his teachings are heavily influenced by Judaism and that we can not understand what he wants us to do and believe without understanding that (and especially the Mishnah) but that does not make those idiots Jewish. I might wish to be, sometimes, but I must cast myself in with the scum that are Christian instead, alas.

I keep warning right wing Catholics what is going to happen should these Fundamentalist Evangelicals take over and they refuse to listen. They seem to think they will be last in line into the ovens or something.

It’s the same thing I mention to my friends who are members of the church formerly known as Mormon. “Evangelicals think you’re cultists who don’t even worship the right Jesus.” Thing is, most of my Mormon friends are pretty liberal, pretty chill people, but they still don’t get it.

Will Rudy Giuliani rat Trump out?

That would make him the biggest rat in US history, wouldn’t it?

If Rudy takes the stand, the cross examination by Trump’s defense attorney will be great courtroom drama.

He’s insane. He would shut down Public Schools, International Trade, Nuclear Research and Alternative Energy Research.

He thinks this is helpful for any future economic policy!

Again, insane.
