A Beautiful Piece by Fingerstyle Guitarist Antoine Dufour: “Return of the Settlers”

Music • Views: 17,885

Finally! I’m so glad to share this work! I had the real awesome opportunity to work on the soundtrack of this new Ubisoft video game, The Settlers: New Allies. Back in 2020, I started recording thousands of musical phrases for what would become eventually the video game soundtrack. That was a very ambitious project! I had the privilege to work with the great musical composer Chance Thomas and activate my fingers and blood, sweat and tears (that’s for sure…) to make it happen. I worked as well closely with Chance to arrange the main theme for solo guitar, so here it is! Hope you like it!

…And for the guitar players out there, the tuning of the guitar is EBEABE (DADGAD but a step up)

Enjoy!

Strange days.

France to spend €200m destroying wine as demand falls

“…European Commission data for the year to June shows that wine consumption has fallen 7% in Italy, 10% in Spain, 15% in France, 22% in Germany and 34% in Portugal, while wine production across the bloc - the world’s biggest wine-making area - rose 4%.

They think it’s all a game. They think they’ll be vindicated by the court. If not, they think Daddy Trump will win and pardon them. (Let’s leave aside the discussion of state charges and inability to pardon for now.) They think they’re on the right side of history - God’s side - and that even if they go to jail, they’ll be like the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., for a new generation of Americans. Put shortly, they truly believe that what they are doing is the right thing, and whatever consequences they face are martyrdom credentials for God’s glory.

It is morbidly fascinating how Trump supporters cling to the notion of Trump’s complete innocence, 91 serious felony counts notwithstanding, and that this whole sordid affair is nothing but a fiendish plot orchestrated by senile Sleepy Joe on behalf of his “installers” as part of their totalitarian vision.

If I had the money (not just for the film but the E6 processing) I’d love to buy a bunch of that. But $70 for the 5 pack and $12 a roll developing (mailed out since the local lab doesn’t do E6, only B&W and C41) means those 60 images would be pretty spendy…

6x6 slides from a Rolleicord like mine are gorgeous things and Velvia’s color is the only thing like Kodachrome left.

Thanks for the thought but shy of a lotto win I’m more likely to drive home in a Ferrari 😉

A beautiful piece indeed. Haven’t played any Settlers games since the turn of the century, hope the one he made the soundtrack for is doing better than it was during open beta (heard it got eviscerated by players).

On a health follow-up, woke up today worse than before. Everything aches, feverish, and probably not a good sign i gotta keep revising texts on account of writing ‘help’ instead of ‘health’ all the time.
…Still, was worth it to stay up as late as possible here to see Agent Orange processed in real time. xD

Fortunately, another wasted Covid test later, I can now confirm that my ongoing efforts to elude the Evil Virus since the start of the pandemic remain 100% successful. Whatever unpleasantness I caught, it’s something else.
Also fortunately, I felt strong enough today to walk around and go outside to get essentials for the emergency elixir of life also known as Jewish chicken broth (my variation, which maintains a 98% approval rating to date*).

[* Allegations that I’ve halted further polling to maintain said approval rating are completely unsubstantiated]

I remember watching that in a packed theater. Sitting to my right was a young girl - toddler…maybe 4 years old at the most. Her parents were captivated with the film. At one point I felt her grab my right wrist and begin squeezing it. She was so frightened she was staring right at me. I said, “I know it’s scary but it’s just make believe.” Her mother finally realized what was going on and pulled her onto her lap.

Oh please, please, please grant it because that will screw Trump & Rudy over real good!

‘Precisely what Trump’s defense team doesn’t want’: Sidney Powell seeks speedy trial

Former Donald Trump lawyer Sidney Powell on Friday filed a speedy trial demand in Fulton County in connection with the Georgia election conspiracy case, according to court documents obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Tamar Hallerman.

Powell was among 19 people along with the former president indicted last week on allegations of a conspiracy to overturn the state’s 2020 election.

Powell is the second co-defendant to demand a speed trial, Hallerman notes. Ken Chesebro’s request was granted and his case is scheduled to start Oct. 23, a date put forth by prosecutor Fani Willis.

TN GOP plan to deal with gun violence: Change the definitions!

[Embedded content]

The Moms Demand Action for Gun Safety’s legal arm, Everytown Law, has a plan. This probably isn’t step one, but it’s from the link in the email I got today.

Last May, a white gunman killed 10 people in a racist mass shooting at a grocery store in a predominantly Black area of Buffalo, New York. The gunman, now serving a life sentence, drove 200 miles to target that community.

Last week, 16 witnesses of the tragedy filed a lawsuit over the trauma they endured. They named YouTube and Reddit sites where they say the shooter was radicalized, as well as the retailer who sold his gun and the manufacturer of his body armor. The suit also names the gunman’s parents, who the plaintiffs say knew about their son’s violent tendencies, and failed to act.

They will rehearse believing it until they believe it because it allows them to continue to feel contempt and self-satisfaction. They don’t mind lies or exaggeration or spurious speculation because information exists to make them feel better; truth just isn’t valuable to the at all.

They are rubes, but the step that makes them rubes isn’t that they’re credulous of what their leaders say. It’s the step where they think their “side” will hold together enough to grant the promised treats.

Got it! NASA 817’s fourth pass over my house a few minutes ago. I saw it through the window next to my computer desk in my peripheral vision, banking out of a turn like it was on a bombing run, grabbed my camera, got outside and caught it departing over my garage with a quick grab shot. I didn’t even have time to focus and zoom, so this is at 55mm instead of 250mm!

NASA 817 overflight. This is with a 55mm lens. Taken about six seconds after it went overhead, it was a lot bigger then!

J.P. was a PG-13 movie when it came out. What were her parents thinking to bring a 4 year old to see it? She probably had nightmares for a week.

That’s why my son and I were having a debate over whether Jurassic Park was a horror movie or not.

Trump co-defendant minister dons clerical garb for Georgia mugshot (New York Post, August 25, 2023)

This is the Lutheran pastor who showed up to advise witness tamper with Ruby Freeman. His group in Illinois is listed by SPLC as a hate group.

And who put up the bail money for that Pulpit Pimp?

‘Nervous’ pastor in Trump’s Georgia case bailed out by podcaster ‘Silk’

MAGA podcaster Rochelle Hardaway Richardson, more commonly known by her stage name “Silk,” has bailed out a Christian pastor indicted as a co-defendant in the Georgia election racketeering case, reported The Daily Beast on Friday.

thedailybeast.com

Stephen Cliffgard Lee, the “nervous” pastor indicted alongside Donald Trump and 17 others in Georgia, was able to post bail on Friday thanks largely to a hefty donation from the infamous MAGA podcaster “Silk” from “Diamond and Silk,” his attorney told The Daily Beast. Lee, who’s accused of intimidating an election worker, was the last of 19 co-defendants to surrender to authorities. His attorney, David Shestokas, suggested Lee’s delay was money-related, with the Chicago pastor short by thousands on his $75,000 bond. Shestokas, who spoke at length about Lee’s case to The Daily Beast last week, said Silk spoke about Lee’s situation on her Thursday night podcast, telling her listeners that Lee “needs to be in church on Sunday.” Shestokas said Silk, whose real name is Herneitha Hardaway, cut a check for $3,500 to start, and by the time Lee turned himself in on Friday—an hour before the court-mandated deadline—he had enough money to bail out. Shestokas called it “a miracle.”

They first tried to deliver it to a business in Omaha, then they tried to deliver it to a business in Montana in a town with the same name as mine (I had a windscreen for my car take that route last year), then they delivered it today to a business in Wichita.

He hopes it will come in tomorrow.

The Wingnut from Omaha weighs in on wildfires.

FlashPoint guest suggests that the wildfires in Hawaii and across other parts of the globe are the result of “demonic entities” and God will show “it’s not climate” (Media Matters for America, August 23, 2023)

Hank Kunneman said that on Sunday, “the spirit of the Lord … began to prophesy about Hawaii, and he began to prophesy about North America and the fire. … And he said that ‘the demonic entities have stretched their hands’”

Deja Moo: The feeling you’ve heard this bull before.

GENE BAILEY (HOST): I mean, climate change, I mean, it is summer. It must be climate change that’s causing this problem.

HANK KUNNEMAN (GUEST): Sure, they’ve been saying climate change for a long time, but here is the real deal, you know, getting back to the original thing you said about Biden. You know, the real fire — again, the guy’s a great actor and they’re putting on a acting job — that’s for sure. The fire that he needs to be concerned with — and the 46 that doesn’t exist and the fake administration — they need to be concerned about the fire of God’s justice that’s going to burn brighter under their gluteus maximus, and also going to continue to bring a laptop to the forefront. That’s not going away because God is absolutely exposing all of this.

In the Atlantic tropics tonight, the National Hurricane Center has updated the predicted track of Tropical Storm Franklin, moving it right (east, away from the United States), as the high pressure to its north is cutting behind it and to the west faster than predicted. At the same time, the remnants of Tropical Storm Emily are running out of time to develop.

Predicted Track of Franklin (NHC)

It appears Nova Scotia is also out of the woods.

Atlantic 7-Day Graphical Tropical Outlook (NHC)

Disturbance One: A tropical depression is now likely to form this weekend as the storm system moves into the western Caribbean Sea. By the end of the forecast period, the storm will be somewhere along the Florida west coast or Panhandle.

Disturbance Two (the remnants of Emily) are stalled in the northern Atlantic with little chance of development.

Disturbance Three is currently over Africa. It is expected to move off the Senegalese coast early next week.

In the eastern Pacific, Disturbance One is well out to sea and is still moving west north-west. It has a 90% chance of development within two days.

Disturbance Two’s motion along the south coast of Mexico has stalled. The system is meandering about, lowering its chance of development to 20% over the next week.

In the central Pacific, Disturbance One from the east should move into the area toward the end of the forecast period. It will still be a long way from Hawai’i.

Back in about 1982, an exceedingly stupid guy I knew managed to be bitten by a lion outside a steakhouse in Lubbock. The lion belonged to a couple who kept exotic animals on a ranch near Seminole. They had stopped for dinner at the steakhouse and left the lion in its cage in the back of their truck. The guy claimed he was just walking by and the lion reached out and grabbed his hand with its paw, yanked it into the cage, and clamped down on it with his jaws. The lion didn’t bite any farther but it resolutely refused to let go. An ambulance, Animal Control, and the police were summoned. The owners had not taken the precaution of bringing any lion sedative with them. Fortunately the Animal Control guys (who frequently worked with horses) turned out to have a suitable product, apparently a cocktail of ketamine and xylazine. The owners eventually pried the snoozing lion’s jaws apart and the EMTs packed the victim and his mangled hand off to Lubbock General, now University Medical Center. It remains the only lion bite they have ever treated. Btw, police found that the bars on the cage were much too narrow for a lion’s paw to fit through, but a man’s hand would. The victim had obviously reached through the bars to touch or pet the lion and the creature had reacted naturally. The lion was not harmed in the incident. FAFO I guess

Unfortunately, tonight for me was the standard “I’m not happy with the room I’m in, is there any way I can move?” Friday night where we’ve been sold-out for hours but everybody who decided to wait til the dead of night to check in is unhappy with the location or state of their room. A special shout-out to the dickhead who thought that, after he and his wife had been as pleasant as a battery acid enema about their room being “filthy,” thought I was in a good enough mood to joke about yelling at housekeeping in the morning.

I just got done with my walk around. On 4th floor I discovered that housekeeping didn’t put away one of their carts and vacuums this afternoon. It’s been sitting there all day. Argh.

Meanwhile 2 of my 3 luggage carts are awol so they’re probably in guest rooms because they are special and shouldn’t have to unload last night, wait their turn in the morning and then reload the cart then.

Last but not least, Adobe Acrobat Reader is acting up. Our property management software (by Oracle) does all of it’s printing through Acrobat. Well, right now I can only do one print job and then I have to LOG OUT of windows and then log back in to print another job. This is apparently at all IHG properties worldwide.

For a few years now I’ve been doing a dream diary, where if I wake up from a dream and remember it I try to write it down. Sometimes my scribbles are barely readable when I go back to check them later, but I do it anyway.

Over a few years some things have become apparent:
1) I remember dreams more if I go to sleep intent on the idea that I am going to record them.
2) All the usual themes that psychologists like to dwell upon eventually show up once in a while, but most of my dreams are just glimpses of miscellaneous stuff I’ve seen or heard.
3) My ratio of nightmares is low. However, on occasion I do have a scary dream.
4) In my dreams the sounds and voices I have heard are better remembered than the visuals.
5) And as is typical (apparently), smells are not part of my dreams.
6) Occasionally I have very long dreams that seem liked adventures, with lots of twists and turns and people I may or may not know. They could make short stories.
7) Also, once in a while a person shows up who I recognize but I have no idea why they popped into a dream. Last night it was Bob Hope. Why? I don’t know.

Disturbance One has now been designated Invest 93L. More models predict this system becoming a tropical storm or hurricane before it reaches Florida. It will be named Idalia if it becomes a tropical storm.

North of the Yucatan Channel, the waters of the Gulf of Mexico are in the upper eighties Fahrenheit, and those temperatures extend down over one hundred metres. That means the usual upwelling of cold water under a tropical cyclone will not happen, and more models are showing rapid intensification as the system approaches Florida. Moreover, the temperatures of the water off the west coast are above ninety degrees.

The National Hurricane Center has narrowed the area in which they’re predicting the storm to hit, most likely north of Tampa to the east half of the Panhandle. GFS shows the storm coming ashore near Tallahassee while the European model (ECMWF) shows north of Tampa. So far this year, the ECMWF model has been more accurate.

There will not be a lot of time to prepare for this storm, so preparations should already be underway.

Out in the Atlantic, the remnants of Emily are gone. The National Hurricane Center has moved the track of Tropical Storm Franklin further east, putting Bermuda at the edge of the uncertainty cone, predicting it to be a major hurricane as it passes by or over the island. By the end of the period, it will be over cold water and increasing shear, but still a hurricane as it aims to the south-east of the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland.

The local Fox affiliate is also doing all they can to spin the story.

They didn’t bother to look into how many people in that neighborhood don’t really care.

Staten Island is someplace I’ve never been. I’ve been to Queens and Manhattan before. NYC is huge (by American standards) and of course very diverse and the center of a great amount of immigration the 18th and 19th and 20th centuries.

But there is a story here that Fox did not tell: the abandoned Catholic school building.

Evidently either the locals are not Catholic enough, or did not have enough children, for it to be useful for the local RC parish to keep it functioning as a school.

On the Great Plains, the remnants of Tropical Storm Harold went further south than the Weather Prediction Center predicted. While we got rain yesterday morning, the bulk of the storm passed to our south.

Currently the centre-of-circulation is south-east of Grand Island, Nebraska, moving in the direction of St. Joseph, Missouri.

They kind of buried at the end of the article that a total of twenty asylum seekers are there. Apparently that’s twenty too many: Property owners are already complaining how this will drive down their property values.

Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams’s spokesmodel were on Good Morning New York, complaining the problem is really the Biden Administration not paying any attention to the “nationwide problem.” The reporter drilling down into the claims of the mayor’s spokesmodel got answers from her indicating: a) The city is in contact with the White House every day, b) The federal government sent numerous representatives to the city for a whole week to find out where the government can help.

UPS first shipped it to Omaha. When he tracked it down there, they told him they would get the part to him right away.

They shipped it to Wichita.

He tracked it down again and found it was in Montana.

There’s a reason I won’t do on-line or mail order business with a company which doesn’t offer shipping by the US Postal Service (aside from the fact they won’t deliver to my town unless they are forced to).

How we got here goes all the way back to Republicans and the Great Depression.

Conservatives are the minority. The goal is to get fence-sitters off the fence and apolitical people to pay attention.

The GOP has lost Gen Z, which is why libertarians like Ramaswamy are proposing taking the right to vote from young people. Magazines such as Teen Vogue are educating teenage readers on what conservatism really is (something which should have been done a long time ago).

The more extreme they get, the more people they drive away. The GOP voter base is not growing.

CNN - The principal and a teacher at a Flagler County, Florida, elementary school are on paid administrative leave after an assembly was held only for fourth and fifth-grade Black students, who were collectively told to improve their school performance, according to the school district - regardless of how each student was doing individually.

The two school staffers were placed on leave days after the assembly was held at Bunnell Elementary School on August 18. Only African American students from the two grades participated, Flagler County Schools spokesperson Jason Wheeler told CNN.

During the assembly, a 2023-2024 school year Goals and Objectives PowerPoint presentation was used that read in part, “AA have underperform (sic) on standardized assessment for the last past 3 years,” .> Flagler County School Board chair Cheryl Massaro told CNN in an email.

“AA is African American, and that is one subgroup the FDOE requires annual reporting on from all Florida schools. The power point, created by one of the presenters shows the data results,” Massaro said in the email.

Flagler Schools interim superintendent Lashakia Moore said in a news conference Thursday, “This should not have happened, but it did,” and offered an apology to the students and their families.

Keep it fucking classy, Florida. SMH.

Prison conditions are awful for everybody. I have little empathy for someone complaining that they can’t get the kind of food they would choose to eat at home, when there are people getting shanked, raped, or beaten by guards and no one bats an eye. If you’re not in favor of fixing those kinds of problems, you can just STFU about some poor vegan not getting special treatment.

It’s venture to say that’s why Giselle Maxwell is now “identifying as Jewish”. Because of the food. Because it’s religious law, is practically guarantee that they’re getting kosher food. When I was flying, if you had a food option (used to be in coach then only in business/first) on the flight, kosher food was usually better than the other options.

Naomi Klein writes about people confusing her with Naomi Wolf, going down Wolf’s rabbit hole of conspiracy theories and the hate she gets for it.

The Guardian, August 26, 2023

Naomi Klein on following her ‘doppelganger’ down the conspiracy rabbit hole - and why millions of people have entered an alternative political reality

“For years the writer laughed off being mistaken for fellow author Naomi Wolf. Then her ‘double’ drifted into a world of conspiracy theories and became a favoured guest of Steve Bannon and Tucker Carlson. With the US standing on a political precipice, suddenly the stakes were a lot higher”

In my defence, it was never my intent to write about it. I did not have time. No one asked me to. And several people strongly cautioned against it. Not now - not with the literal and figurative fires roiling our planet. And certainly not about this.

Other Naomi - that is how I refer to her now. This person with whom I have been chronically confused for over a decade. My big-haired doppelganger. A person whom so many others appear to find indistinguishable from me. A person who does many extreme things that cause strangers to chastise me or thank me or express their pity for me.

I am referring, of course, to Naomi Wolf. In the 1990s, she was a standard-bearer for “third wave” feminism, then a leading adviser to US vice-president Al Gore. Today, she is a full-time, industrial-scale disseminator of unproven conspiracy theories on everything from Islamic State beheadings to vaccines. And the worst part of the confusion is that I can see why people get their Naomis mixed up. We both write big-idea books (my No Logo, her Beauty Myth; my Shock Doctrine, her End of America; my This Changes Everything, her Vagina). We both have brown hair that sometimes goes blond from over-highlighting (hers is longer and more voluminous than mine). We’re both Jewish.

Prison reform, like immigration reform is such a large, complex and interconnected issue that addressing simply one aspect of it at a time is rather pointless unless you are out to make a political point.

Both things are true: that the West’s occupation of Afghanistan had long been untenable and unjustifiable, and that things would get significantly worse for most of the population once the West left. We’ve got sanctions up the yin-yang against the Taliban without much effect. Sometimes there are no good answers.

And Biden learned, or likely already knew, that ending a war and an occupation meant that the right would pound you for being a loser and a traitor, the left would simply move on to the next grievance without missing a beat, and the middle would forget about the whole thing in a week. It’s a dangerous lesson for future presidents.

It’s a dangerous lesson for future presidents.

And in the modern world’s political climate “fixing” Afghanistan is not possible.

The internal powers there for the most part *want* their loose tribal network, patriarchal hierarchy, and conservative Islam (though perhaps not to the extremes the Taliban prefers.) Which also is going to include no or few rights for women, extremely limited education opportunities, etc. etc. Self-induced crippling of half their potential population’s intellectual input to the society.

An external power or coalition of powers trying to enforce any sort of modernity or structure with better rights for women would be acting as an imperial/conquering power attempting to quash or destroy a culture and all/most of its trappings while substituting its own as the replacement. (Or at least a version of it telling the occupants to be subservient.) And such an effort will also take at least a generational long large-scale occupation. With no guarantees it would be successful even then.

The latter will not fly in this day and age since who picks which culture is going to be imposed. Plus that sort of crusade (and it would be essentially a crusade since it has to be sold that way) will not carry sufficient economic benefits for any country or coalition to want to carry it out.

Plus humans being humans the entire process would be rife with corruption, set backs, and probably veer off the rails somewhere during the process as well.

My guess is that as long as the Taliban is not letting Afghanistan serve as a base for terrorist camps and cells to develop the outside world is generally going to let them alone to continue terrorizing themselves and treating half their population as chattel simply due to gender. (And, unfortunately, there are those in other countries who will look upon this as a good thing that should be adopted in their country as well.)

Bear in mind that “vegans” (hardly a monolithic group) are objecting to prisoners – in general – being forced to eat meat when in jail. Went to the Sr. Women’s competition Day 1 last night. Simone Biles is the best ever. The place was electric.

An interesting observation of Elite Level Gymnastics in the United States: People of Color.

In the Sr Men’s(18+) competition, two Asian-Americans and three African-Americans are in the top seven of day one scores. In the Junior Men’s, you have four Asian-Americans, two of South-Asia/India decent, and two Ukrainian-Americans in the top 12. In the Sr. Women, 12 of the top 15 are Women of Color.

Probably not the images of gymnastics that many people have.

Many colleges and universities gutted men’s gymnastics in the last 10-15 years.
Fucking football and more weight rooms.
When my daughter was looking at schools we visited Temple in Philly. Their woman’s practice area was a joke. Didn’t even have a pit. Just harness. Had areas where towels were wrapped around pipes to protect heads.
But they showed us a bright shiny brand new weight arena.
I didn’t know gymnasts lifted.
They don’t.
It was for football and other money makers.
My daughters gym was more well equipped.
My daughter watched that last night. She judges now so she’s still close to the sport she loves.
Travel teams and tournaments.
She makes hundreds of dollars enjoying herself on a weekend. The season is coming after Christmas. She’ll be neck deep in it.

Well here’s another lie pushed by 19th Century FAUX!

‘Disgusting’: Fox News repeatedly ignored request to correct ‘false’ story about fallen Marine

Fox News executives were asked by the United States Marine Corps to amend a story about a 23-year-old Marine killed in Afghanistan, according to The Washington Post, but instead the right-wing news outlet deleted the report.

Per The Post, “The July 25 foxnews.com story,” written by Michael Lee, “relied on an account from freshman Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.), who stated that the family of Sgt. Nicole L. Gee had shouldered ‘a heavy financial burden’ of $60,000 to retrieve her body from Afghanistan,” after becoming “one of 13 U.S. service members killed in a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport in the frantic final days of the U.S. withdrawal.”

Marine Corps spokesman Major James Stenger wrote in an email to Fox executives, “The allegations originally published turned out to be false, which I suspect Mr. Lee knew in the first place, and was the reason he did not seek comment from the Marine Corps.”

Lee, according to the report, “quoted Mills calling the family’s supposed expenditures an ‘egregious injustice,’ but “neither Pentagon officials nor Gee’s family were quoted in the original story.”

After Stenger’s first email, Fox added a statement from the Marines to the story and changed its headline. The original headline read: ‘Family forced to pay to ship body of Marine killed after Pentagon policy change; ‘Egregious injustice.’ The new version said: ‘Family shouldered burden to transport body of Marine killed in Afghanistan, GOP Rep says.’

The newspaper also notes that “Stenger emailed executives again to say that the new headline and story were still false,” writing, “Using the grief of a family member of a fallen Marine to score cheap clickbait points is disgusting.”

Instead of adhering to “Stenger’s request for a correction, retraction or an apology to Gee’s family,” according to the report, “Fox then removed the story from its website altogether.”

The Post notes, “The Marines’ communications with Fox were first reported by military.com, which obtained the emails this week under a Freedom of Information Act request.”

I never gave them money. Mainly based on how they treated students as a commodity while I was there in the Posvar issue. Partially also due to their two-faced policies and treatment towards fraternities.*

My father, also a Pitt alumnus, stopped donating to them in the early 70s when they hired Majors as the football coach and started trying to become a modern major football power again.

* - Their policies were a mishmash that varied due in part to which part of the university you were talking too. Greek Life was a bit of a joke since the IFC essentially ran as a sort of club dominated by the larger fraternities who did things that favored the larger fraternities. And often the university rules and policies were pretty much of the “we are covering our ass” variety while also stating a bunch of principles that they just paid lip service to.

Which led to the fraternities pretty much being ignored until they did something embarrassing or were caught doing something criminal (like hazing). Can’t comment much on the sorority side of the situation though from what friends have said it had its share of peculiarities.

DoD suppliers make a line of vegan MREs. It would be no trick to work them into prison food. Vegans are accommodated, hard-asses can tell themselves it’s punishment. Everybody wins.

Not only this, but legumes are about the cheapest form of protein you can find and it’s easy to cook giant pots of chili that can feed hundreds of people. Swapping out meat for beans is cheaper and easier than cooking meat.

I’m thinking Daleks should get their eon bathroom. Sorry, Daleks.

I assume they have their own built into their casing, and would just need to dump like an RV, if they poop. I don’t recall seeing a Dalek eat.

Fun fact: Bob Barker knew martial arts and had studied under Chuck Norris, among others. He insisted on doing as many of his own stunts as possible during this scene.

SMH.

“Participated “???

More like “were subjected to”

Daleks don’t eat; they are powered by electricity. My impression is that the source of that electricity has changed over time.

According to the Google, a black belt in Karate and a red belt in tang soo do karate under Chuck Norris. And according to the Wiki, he was a vegetarian as well.
