Well, it’s easier for President Biden because everyone knows Florida’s governor is fucked in the head and incapable of responding rationally or equitably to all Floridians impacted by their annual wave of national disasters, and in some ways, only manages to make things worse.

A dad was moving his son into a dorm at Arkansas State University, my wife’s alma mater, when he came into the room foaming at the mouth. The did CPR and used an AED, but he died on the way to the hospital. He had six kids and was engaged to a woman who had six kids of her own.

I can’t imagine how you start school like that other than knowing your dad wanted you to.

My jet lag has been so profound in the mid-afternoon that I was surprised to have energy at that time today. Then my son came up to tell me that dinner was ready and I was sitting asleep in front of the computer at 6:30PM and thought it was AM and I had missed the dog walk time and what the fuck am I doing. It’s already been four days and I’m still messed up.

So I made a quick run to town today and there was a group of people picking up trash on the highway (usually DUI offenders working off their fines because they don’t have the cash to pay it and don’t want to sit in jail). Normal looking crowd today - about 3-4 women and maybe 6 dudes. Women all looked like coastal locals - pony tails and a few tats. But the guys looked like a Guy Fieri fan club. At least four of them had bleach blond flat top buzz cuts. They could have started their own boy band SMC-Pop.

Kind of a win-win situation, IMO: Trump is the candidate, he turns off vast sectors of the electorate, and Joe wins an easy second term. Trump isn’t the candidate, it turns off the MAGA deplorables, and Joe wins an easy second term.

Unfortunately, even despite the undoubted benefits of keeping Donald Trump away from the White House (and hopefully keeping him in jail), I think it’s too much to hope for there not to have some of that “hatred and rage” spill over into public (likely violent).

MAGA musician at prayer event calls for blaze to ‘sweep our city like a fire sweeps through the woods’

Yeah you’re right.

Sean Feucht was joined at the Aug. 20 “Let Us Worship” event by Matt Shea, a former state representative accused of domestic terrorism who has since become a pastor, and Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward, the report said.

Feucht at the event said “We don’t care about the smoke. Let’s pray for a fire that would consume Spokane” and “sweep our city like a fire sweeps through the woods.”

He added: “Jesus, we know that you are in control of the fires. And we are on fire for you.”

So… I am a dude who has lost a lot of weight, and yet is still probably heavier than Donald Trump. It’s hard sometimes.

When someone simply goes on a rant about TOFG being fat with no other point other than his being fat defining his value as a person, it hurts. That doesn’t come up a lot but it shows up at some relatively lefty places more than I would expect. I don’t have any sympathy for him, but there needs to be a little effort to not be generally offensive.

However in the context of the last week, when he baldly lied about his weight to legal authorities (and in turn literally everyone else) then I have no problem at all with mocking him. After all, he’s taunting us.

Elected Republicans are afraid to admit they’re connected to reality.

There’s just no evidence of that,” one GOP lawmaker, speaking anonymously, told CNN. “And they can’t impeach without that evidence. And I don’t I don’t think the evidence exists.”

OAN Staffers ‘Embarrassed’ by Host’s Cringey MAGA Rap Video

thedailybeast.com

That cringe-inducing pro-Trump rap video starring multiple One America News hosts has left staffers at the little-watched cable outlet deeply embarrassed, multiple sources told Confider. MAGA rapper Forgiato Blow teamed up with the far-right conspiracy-laden channel’s top star Dan Ball for the “Real America” video, which featured Ball railing against Donald Trump’s latest indictment and stiffly dancing like an uncle at a wedding. Throughout the video, Blow interacts with other OAN personalities, including the channel’s 82-year-old owner, and runs through the newsroom while staff dramatically tear apart folders reading “Trump Indictment #4.” The video is guaranteed secondhand embarrassment for any viewers not fully living a MAGA alt-reality. And OAN employees seemed to realize that, as two people familiar with the matter told Confider that some staffers walked out prior to filming because they didn’t want to be a part of it. One OAN employee added that staffers generally did not know about the video shoot until the last minute and just went along with it. Much of the finger-pointing was aimed directly at Ball: “I need to leave OAN ASAP! I am sick and tired of Dan Ball’s antics, and so are so many others,” one current OAN anchor wrote to Confider. Other current and former staffers told Confider they are “officially taking OAN off my resume after watching this” or that they “can’t stop laughing” at the “bizarre” video. Ball wrote in a statement: “We’d like to thank all the American Patriots out there who downloaded the song ‘Real America’! Within the first 24 hours of the songs release we reached #11 on the Top 100 ITunes billboard charts in the Rap/Hip-Hop genre, all thanks to you! God Bless you.”

New article about a park we’ve talked about here.

From drownings to deadly rides - the truth about America’s most dangerous theme park (metro.co.uk)

Son1 was a 16-yr old staffer staffer there when I worked at Picatinny. He worked the tanks and speedboat pool. The stories are largely true.

After a two-year battle, beloved saxophonist James Casey has passed away at 40. The artist and prominent member of the Trey Anastasio Band died surrounded by his family and loved ones this morning. The confirmation of his passing was shared on social media this afternoon.

The statement reads, “It is with profound grief and a broken heart that we confirm the passing of James Casey. He died peacefully in the early morning of August 28, 2023, surrounded by his wife and family. James persevered through his colon cancer battle for two years, and it was the honor of his career to release solo music and perform during that time. James brought joy to everyone around him and his legacy will live on, both through his music and the advocacy work that’s become so integral to him.

“It was so important to James to help others avoid his fate - to learn the importance of early colon cancer screenings, know your family history, and be an advocate for your own health. When detected early, colon cancer is almost always curable. He shared his diagnosis publicly and illuminated his ongoing battle to raise awareness and help others. James was a remarkable human being, beloved for his wit, humility, kindness and generosity. He will be dearly missed.”

Blue Sky is growing but even with the invite-code scheme it now seems clear that users are not pushing their codes into where they need to be:

Blue sky percent growth daily

A free code every two weeks means, if they were all used, the number of users would double each fortnight.

Which means something around 5% per day growth if you want to double user count every fortnight.

But the stats say the growth has been averaging around 2% per day.

While that is impressive growth, it’s not as fast as I had hoped.

We’re not passing them out on Twitter, which would be where the biggest impact would be. And trying to be very selective means a slower adoption rate. I definitely wouldn’t want to make a tweet that says “New code: ”.

I still remember hearing this in 1963 and being knocked back on my feet (well I was 7 and I Wanna Hold Your Hand was number 1. I was a real Beatlemaniac until I saw American Graffitti and realized how much good music there was pre-1963 ). It was like no other song I had heard. It was the first song I can remember where the girl was not crying about losing her boy or wishing she had a date. I have always loved strong women vocals since.

That chart is very nicely flat… but it still is an exponential growth curve over a decent length of time. I think they’re getting the controlled growth that they want. If they wanted faster uptake, they could easily change how fast new codes are released by editing one variable, or add more channels to hand them out.

Everyone wants it to be the new Twitter right now before Elon totally wrecks the old one, but it doesn’t look like they’re at a stage where they can grow as fast as we want. Whether the constraint is code development, infrastructure scaling, or financial, I don’t know.

Ruslana Danilkina. Unbreakable.

At the age of 18, she left her native Odesa and volunteered to go to war. She became a communications operator. On February 10, 2023, a russian cluster bomb hit her car in the Kherson region. Ruslana lost her leg.

She underwent several difficult surgeries. Prosthetics. Rehabilitation.

She lives a full life. She travels. She helps other wounded people return to normal life.

“I want our country to have no pity for people whom war has left its mark on. People who have been injured remain the same people they were. Only each of them has their own story of struggle, a story of fear and victory. I want every person who has sacrificed themselves to not be afraid to return into society and interact with people.”

I’ve had three colonoscopies, most recent one was in 2019.

I have not had one. I’ve written before over the harassment campaign I got from the local VA over wearing masks in the clinic (Wyoming, man) when I was getting the “short” version of one.

They went as far as schedule me appointments in a local civilian hospital recently without telling me. When I received a call from the hospital confirming my appointment, I told them I didn’t make it and never accept a call from the VA on my behalf again.

At my last appointment a couple weeks ago with the nurse in Sidney, I had her remove my telephone number from the computer system so they can’t call me any more. Apparently someone at the Ombudsman office has the telephone written down because they called me again yesterday saying they needed to see me. (That’s why I have an answering machine.)

There was a lot of nonsense spewed about Twitter’s financials when EM was setting up the purchase. Twitter was fine. They were basically breaking even, while growing. When they eventually topped out on services scaling they could fiddle the monetization and ad placement to make it profitable.

From the shareholders’ short term point of view, perhaps it wasn’t great, but fuck the shareholders. Businesses run for short-term stock price trends inevitably do so by destroying the actual value of the company.

Twitter was fine. This is all solved issues.

The only disadvantage Bluesky has is that they are one player in a fragmented marketspace whereas Twitter was the full, essentially undivided, public commons. Mastodon can survive on its own as a hundred separate vanity projects. Threads (spit) is just another face of Facebook and has unlimited funding. I haven’t looked into the funding behind Bluesky, but if they have deep enough pockets and perhaps the sense to set it up as a NFP then really the only meaningful limit they face is market share.

I give up. My braindead Trumper FB friend was screeching again about something — it had to do with Biden visitor logs revealing the Biden administration lied about their closely coordinating the “persecution” of Trump by working with prosecutor teams. Does anyone know what this is about?

I’m not great at searching on-line, but I can’t find anything about it other than Trump claiming that happened.

I hate it when I wake up after sleeping for no more than a couple of hours and my brain will not go back to sleep even though I have to be up in five more.

I give up. My braindead Trumper FB friend was screeching again about something — it had to do with Biden visitor logs revealing the Biden administration lied about their closely coordinating the “persecution” of Trump by working with prosecutor teams. Does anyone know what this is about?

Trump attacks special counsel over report that an investigator had a meeting at the White House

There have been some right wing nutballs claiming that Biden irresponsibly had meetings with Jack Smith before the indictments to give his approval

What happend is on March 31, the DOJ head of Cybersecurity has a meeting with a the deputy chief of staff for the White House Counsel. And that it was to facillitate a meeting with a career White House staffer who held the same position under Trump. An FBI field officer was also present.

According to the source, the White House Counsel’s office would attend such a meeting because it represents the institution of the White House and the employees under that umbrella, not just the president.

Sounds to me like they wanted to talk with the WH staffer to find out something about Trump. The Counsel’s Office needed to be there for the staffer’s protection, not to talk with Biden.

Sounds like that staffer might be an important witness if they are going after them.

A bunch of the big accounts on Bluesky have been roiled up in fucking middle school level drama for the last week. It’s just Lord of the Flies up in that bitch now. Hope they snap out of it soon.

I have avoided it. I had a cool conversation with a Japanese woman who shared with me the story about a hanging scroll I noticed in a photo of her cat that turns out to have been handwritten by her grandfather. She explained that he wanted to be an artist, but his brothers died and his father, who came from strict samurai lineage, demanded that he do something to make money. The scroll, with a Chinese poem in calligraphy and a painting of three frogs (he and his brothers) with one reaching up for fruit from a flower leaf, was something he created later in life and that she treasures as a memory of him.

And an astronomer in New Zealand just mentioned the Japanese word “subaru” (The Pleiades) so I shared a great song called Subaru, yo. Turns out he was an intern at the U. of Kyoto astronomy department in 1991 and sang the song a few times with friends out for karaoke. I was never on twitter because it was already becoming a cesspool under Jack by the time I found out about it. But bluesky, at least now, is pretty cool.

Meanwhile, in China…

Just how cash-strapped embattled Country Garden Holdings (2007.hk) is will be the focus when China’s largest private property developer is due to report its first-half results on Wednesday.

The liquidity stress in the company became public this month after it missed two dollar coupon payments and sought to extend an onshore private bond repayment, deepening contagion fears in China’s struggling property sector, and the wider economy.

Country Garden’s total liabilities stood at about $194 billion at the end of 2022. It has already flagged a net loss of up to 55 billion yuan ($7.55 billion) in the first six months, a staggering slide from the 6.7 billion yuan loss it posted in the second half of 2022 and from the net profit of 1.9 billion yuan it posted a year earlier.

One thing to keep an eye on is China’s shadow banking system, which is apparently flailing, and also LGFVs (local government financing vehicles), as some provinces are in debt up to their eyeballs and struggling to make ends meet.

Idalia is now a hurricane and expected to make Cat 3 before landing.

It will make landfall in the low-population part of Florida.

Also note that the models have Idalia doing a loop once it emerges into the Atlantic from either Georgia or South Carolina.

The GFS has it looping and re-hitting Florida.
The European model has it looping at sea and may hitting the eastern seaboard.
The hurricane-specific model doesn’t project far enough into the future but it looks like it is similar to the European model.

Republicans and their voters are used to the paradigm where they control 100% of the narrative, 100% of the right wing media machine, repeat repeat repeat lie after lie until it becomes the truth. It never fails to utterly and totally fluster and confuse them when reality meets their ideological foundation and flips it over into a flaming train wreck of twisted garbage.

From Jonathon Chait:

Keep in mind that supporting Trump came with costs never associated with supporting Bush, McCain, or Romney. Trump supporters lost friendships. Brothers and sisters stopped talking to each other. There are parents whose children disowned them, and grandparents who will never see their grandchildren again because they stood by Donald Trump.

Every Republican has these stories. Every Republican knows Republicans who have these stories.

Attacking Trump was effectively telling every Republican who made real sacrifices that they were stupid for doing so because Trump was just a poser.

There is evidence of a slight erosion of Trump’s support in the GOP, however the only candidate making any gains is Vivek Ramaswamy, who broke into double digits and is closing in on DeSantis for distant second place. Trump still has the support of nearly half of GOP primary voters, and will be the nominee unless his support drops considerably and somebody closes with him. The notion that the white nationalist GOP might nominate a brown skinned Hindu for President is fairly outlandish, though Ramaswamy has done his best to model himself after Trump.

AZ Supremes rebuff 2 more requests to overturn GOP’s 2022 losses as Abe Hamadeh gets busted for lying

On Aug. 24, the high court shot down a special action petition urging justices to void the election results in Maricopa County for failing to go through appropriate legal avenues. Scottsdale-based attorney and avid Kari Lake fan Ryan Heath had argued, on behalf of voter David Mast and Cochise County Supervisor Tom Crosby, that Maricopa County violated signature verification rules during the 2022 midterms.

Crosby, a Republican, came under fire last year for refusing to certify the 2022 election results in Cochise County, spreading baseless allegations about the validity of tabulating machines and pushing for a hand count. After a court ordered him and his fellow reticent supervisor Peggy Judd to carry out their statutory duties, he did not show up to the board meeting in which the county’s tally was finally certified.

Election officials, Heath said, erred in comparing early ballot signatures to those on previous early ballots instead of to signatures on the voter registration, as required by state law.

A similar claim was made by failed attorney general nominee Abraham Hamadeh last year. That argument proved ineffective, with a Mohave County Superior Court judge dismissing it on the grounds that the practice of verifying early ballot signatures using past ballots has been widespread for several years and could have been challenged before the 2022 election.

Hamadeh also suffered a defeat in his ongoing bid to nullify his 2022 loss. Earlier this month, the failed GOP nominee, who lost the attorney general’s seat by just 280 votes, sought relief from the state Supreme Court after a Mohave County Superior Court judge rejected his request for a new trial. In his special action, Hamadeh’s attorneys lambasted the judge for failing to issue final, signed orders that could be appealed and for conducting a trial in December in a way that made it too difficult to present sufficient evidence.

The high court took a dim view of Hamadeh’s falsehoods and ordered attorneys fees be awarded to Mayes and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, for being forced to respond to an insincere filing.

“Because Petitioners were not only aware that they needed a final judgment to seek appellate relief but also misrepresented to this Court that they had sought such relief when they had not done so, and because this representation was the underlying premise upon which this petition was brought, and because all of (Hamadeh’s) claims for trial court error can be presented on appeal, we find that the special action unnecessarily expanded the proceeding and compelled (Mayes and Fontes) to incur the unnecessary expenses of filing their court-ordered responses,” wrote Chief Justice Robert Brutinel.

Hamadeh’s case was sent back down to the appeals court and Jantzen was ordered to issue a final, signed ruling.

We keep saying this and the FC probably keeps threatening it. And I get why.
And again I ask, boot him out, then what?
what does the FC do?
They dont have the votes for one of their own
The rest of the R house doesnt want the job-no one would consider it under the terms McCarthy did

They’re not gonna just boot him out to blow up the house functioning at all.
Cause that still requires the rest of the R votes (ie the sane and Biden district ones)

So if they had the votes to oust him, then the fc has to compromise and negotiate. give up some of their rigidity to get anyone to even consider the job. They lose.

I think everybody knows this
So its an idle threat that’s never gonna happen

Just a person with few ethics who sold whatever soul he had to get the gavel and the power he thought it gave him. I think he has found that there is not as much power there as he thought. Or at least did not understand that positions of power rarely have the independence to reign or act without a lot of consultation and support from others. (That the GOP for decades has tried to build and have a lockstep hierarchy and belief in total party loyalty would make dictating easier for them is part of it. But even the GQP has its internal factions that must be negotiated with.)

From history reading the English monarchs seemed to need to periodically relearn that the kingship was not absolute power and that there was a delicate balance to maintain with and within the nobility and later with the growing middle class who were important as sources of royal income.

Gingrich is aware that Trump going down takes the GOP with it and he is thrashing about trying to prevent that in any way possible. Which seems to involve tying the GOP even closer to Trump since all they do is dredge up muck trying to defend him (without actually defending him since as it has been pointed out repeatedly no one has denied that he did the crimes.) Just more of the double standard that Republicans can do whatever they want since if their rhetoric was serious and legal nothing would or should prevent Biden from outlawing the GOP and establishing the feared dictatorship.

re: #238 Dangerman (sigh…only in America)

Dunno: it’s not hard to imagine the GOP KooKoo Kaucus intentionally sparking some sort of crisis in the House to try (desperately) to distract the Party/voters/media from their nominal standard-bearer’s quite-public legal woes: not to mention the general unpopularity of their party and the few policies they try to push- outside their own rabid base.

A coalition of right-wing organizations has started recruiting thousands of people as part of a project aimed at gutting the federal government in anticipation of a Republican victory in the 2024 election, according to a report. The coalition led by the Heritage Foundation think tank has already signed up hundreds of people as part of the effort dubbed “Project 2025”—an unprecedented attempt to avoid the setbacks Donald Trump faced during his first term in office by having civic infrastructure immediately in place to allow a conservative president to begin implementing his or her political vision. The Associated Press reports that the plan to eradicate what the GOP calls the “deep state” would involve, in part, the firing of up to 50,000 current federal employees. “We need to flood the zone with conservatives,” Paul Dans, the project’s director, said. “This is a clarion call to come to Washington,” he added. “People need to lay down their tools and step aside from their professional life and say, ‘This is my lifetime moment to serve.’”

Trump’s attorneys could bill something in the ballpark of 100,000 hours. At $500/hour, which is cheap for serious legal representation, that would be $50 million. And we haven’t even covered things like filing fees and paying various non-lawyer workers (like paralegals), 2024 expenditures, whatever judgment Carroll is likely to get, paying for co-defendants’ representation to keep them quiet, etc. This is going to get very, very expensive.

Here in Sweden, depending on harm caused, pathogen and intent, spreading of a disease that way can in the mildest case lead to 2 years up river (negligence with poison or pathogen), and in the worst case, 18 years to life in prison (gross spreading of poison or disease).

We have a case of gross spreading of poison or disease working its way through the system, a case where some idiots decided it was in good entrepeneurial spirit to sell fake negative CoViD test certificates…

This fucker voted to end Obamacare and benefits from a government health insurance plan that will likely cover nearly all of his medical expenses.

For anyone else, they’d take a huge financial hit - it could bankrupt them, especially if they’re the breadwinner and lose time from work. It would be even worse had Scalise and the GOP ended Obamacare and rolled back health care access as they hoped to do under Trump (and are still at it nationally and at the state level).

Treatment costs for multiple myeloma in the US? Medication ranges from $74,000 on up to over $250,000. Doctor costs are $250 per visit or more.

Those are all Socialist Hellholes

Yeah, as someone who travels a great deal it’s kind of amazing the degree that Americans firmly believe that everywhere else in the world is dangerous, corrupt, and fundamentally broken. Like…absolutely convinced to a degree that me, having gone there, can’t convince them that in other places, most people are just people living their lives.

In 2018 I had someone worried their son would be in danger from terrorists…in Prague’s Old Town. I told them he should avoid touts and don’t buy drinks for ladies in sex clubs without checking the menu. They absolutely did not believe me that fucking Czechia was safe.

Countries are either failing and people are starving, tyrannies, or in a kind of action-movie state of nature where death is just constant and unremarkable. Americans are convinced of this like North Koreans are sure that everyone else is having even worse famines.

Merry Smithsas - Judge Chutkan’s calendar calls for a whole lot of work to be done by the end of the year, including various motions and list of exhibits relating to the case in chief.

Given that Smith’s team was calling for January 2, they are likely ready to go with all of that information. Trump’s team is going to be burning the midnight oil, and add to Trump’s legal bills (fuck him).

Right wingers think they should get preferential treatment, when that’s explicit proof of a 2-tier justice system (on top of fact that Trump is out on bail for charges that would land anyone else in jail pending trial - espionage Act, classified docs case).

They’ll spin this every which way, but not one will hold Trump accountable. It’ll be about the judge’s “bias”, when running for political office isn’t a job, but an action Trump is taking for the explicit purpose of trying to avoid prison on all of the charges against him.

And the great thing is, all they have to do is replace career civil servants, then not do their jobs, because the whole point is to prevent government agencies from regulating industry.

I think they’re shooting for the one thing they view as better…they’re going to completely capture regulatory agencies.

So instead of doing regulatory work that makes demands of corporations…sometimes, meekly…there will be public-private partnerships in which for-profit entities effectively launder their wants into positions backed by law and certification processes.

We can see this with the EPA, where suddenly a bunch of even-more-dangerous pesticides were deemed okay, but also with the official position that all that spilled material after the derailment in East Palestine was…just fine…fter being burned off.

Basically…the ideal here is the kind of get-away-with-it that happened in Bhopal: even when the mistakes were glaring and obvious, the culpability was limited, the compensation amounting to an Xbox per family, and the creation of a long-term cancer hotspot is simply unremarkable.

Pennsylvania law for dogs and cats to get rabies vaccine by age of 12 weeks and that the vaccine be renewed as needed per the manufacturers recommendations.

Which reminds me that Floof Cat is due for a checkup in the next month. And whatever shots she is due for. (The rabies vaccines I have seen the cats get has varied between being good for one year or two years. Not sure what her one last year was.)

I hope the dogs in this apartment complex do have their shots. Few of them* are supposed to be here since the lease agreements only allow cats. The dead giveaway is that you only see people walking dogs early and the morning and in the early evening when the office staff is most likely not on site.**

Neighbors across from me when I moved in had a dog. They moved out six months or so ago in part due to a rent increase (according to another neighbor). I did wonder if they realized how much more limiting an apartment search got when you included requirements for places that allowed pets. Then again, they might well have expected to be able to smuggle their pooch in and avoid both the extra deposits and “pet rent” that often come with the leases now.

* - There are a few that are official support animals and have been granted waivers. I’ve met one or two of those.

** - Though I guess to a degree it’s awaiting an official crackdown since more than one location in the complex has video camera coverage and I would bet the dogs are appearing on some of those.

House cats in an apartment aren’t crapping on the lawns, and won’t chew through walls. Dogs are allowed in my complex, and it’s mostly fine, but once in a while there’s a terrible tenant that just lets their dog out to poop, leaving a mess. “People need to lay down their tools and step aside from their professional life and say, ‘This is my lifetime moment to serve.’”

re: #371 Charmingly Persistent

Judge gets to voir dire the potential jurors based on questions both sides provide to the judge as a guide - the judge can pick/choose the questions to ask, or ask their own questions.

Getting this moved to federal court isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and a whole lot of Twitter U lawyers think that this is some 4D chess that somehow kills the GA case against Trump.

It does not.

State prosecutors regularly have their criminal cases tried in federal court when the case meets the requirements to do so, including that it is the proper venue, diversity jurisdiction, etc.

This case is proper to be held in state court, but this is an attempt to delay the case, even though it may have the opposite effect since federal courts have speedy trial provisions they have to comply with as well and trials are more streamlined in federal court (typically). Thinking that they can get a more “diverse” jury pool may not be a win for them if the judge weeds out those who’d engage in jury nullification.

Let him know that they’re $300 and can only go up in price.

re: #349 FFL (GOP Delenda Est)

“Boy Who Cried Wolf” effect is pretty widespread now among my acquaintances regarding the GOP and most of the media companies

Most people don’t see trans and gays as a major threat to our society and morals

Most people are aware that the climate is changing and that our lifestyle and approach to economics is probably a contributing factor and is in any case in need of reform if we are to sustain it over the long run

And most people don’t believe that a reasonable approach to immigration policies and gun control will be the downfall of our culture and heritage

re: #257 No Malarkey!

I was wondering that myself. When all is said and done, I think Trump will rack up the largest legal bills ever owed by an individual person in history. Whether those bills ever get paid is another issue entirely.

Good. I hope he dies broke living in a fucking refrigerator box.

I’m ok with whatever excuse he uses to keep the government running. If he has to resort to such ridiculous statements to keep the GOP caucus on board, that’s fine. It’s not as though being honest or decent appeals to them.

It’s like dealing with children. And it’s an utter embarrassment.

Biden continues to turn the US into a socialist hellhole by, uh, negotiating prices for goods and services. Commie.

I am on two of the ten and lower prices would be great. I’m out a lot of pocket on each.

Lots of apartments in Los Angeles have a standard lease that bans pets including mine.

I saw that in the Pittsburgh area when I moved here when using apartment search software like Zillow. You could punch in a set of criteria based on apartment size, certain ammenities, etc. etc. And get a list of locations.

Click the “pet friendly” box and 90% of the list would evaporate.
