Well, to be fair, both Sioux City and Sioux Falls are very near the SD border, and are only about 80 miles apart on I-29. It’s a blunder by Trump, but comparatively speaking, pretty minor compared to the litany of absolute whoppers he spews on a daily basis, for example his complete oblivious claim about the range of EVs

Trump’s apparent strength in polls against Biden right now is a mirage. He hasn’t been getting the coverage that he did in 2016 or during his presidency - meaning he’s not on TV all day everyday. When he starts getting the coverage that comes with being the presumptive nominee, his numbers are going to crater - people are going to remember the nightmare that was his presidency, and they are going to see a man who has become even more unstable.
My gut feeling is still that this election is not going to be particularly close. It might not be a ‘64, ‘72, ‘84 style 45+ state sweep, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the election is called before polls close on the west coast.

Wishful thinking, but prepare for a close election if Trump’s the nominee, because the base backs him regardless of how many indictments (or expected convictions) or even if his business empire is dismantled and he can’t do business in NY again (if you can’t make it here, you can’t make it anywhere).

That would give Democrats the numbers to overturn a bunch of GOP efforts over the past decade, and could lead to significant reforms across government to forestall the fucking fascist GOP from trying to sabotage the government.

But there are still a lot of inertia-driven goopers whose ability to hold their noses is getting more and more sorely tested. It’s all going to depend on just how large that “base” is: and, while I agree that KGxvi’s scenario has just a tad of the rose-tint on it, I think that, in reality, the hardcore Trump base is a great deal smaller than the GOP (and the media) want it to be. The problem is, that Republicans are over-strong in specific regions/states that skews their influence well beyond what plain “numbers” would tell. And they work really hard at that skewing: case in point: North Carolina…

It’s how all store brands are made.
Kirkland, Bowl & Basket, etc. All of them are made by premier brand names and repackaged for the store brand to “compete” with the name brand.
The name brand manufacturer profits either way - and gives appearance of competition and choice.
Medications work slightly differently, but generics are supposed to be equivalent to the name brand.

An Israeli strike on the densely populated Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza caused many casualties, officials in the enclave said Tuesday. The Hamas-controlled Ministry of Interior in Gaza reported that “20 homes were completely destroyed in the Israeli bombing that targeted a residential neighbourhood in Jabalya.”
The director of Gaza’s Indonesian hospital, Dr. Atef al-Kahlout, told CNN that “hundreds” of dead and injured people arrived at the hospital and “many are still under the rubble.”
Israel Defense Forces spokesman Lt. Col. Richard Hecht confirmed to CNN that the Israeli military had launched the strike, and said it was targeting a senior commander from the Hamas militant group.

Unfortunately the white male voter in this country can be considered a lost cause at least for the near future. The bitch-moaning and pathetic “Manosphere” whiney-ass contingent has poisoned the minds and crushed the cricitcal thinking capacity of a huge percentage of American men these days, especially younger men. They have declared open warfare on women specifically, and bitch and moan about how slutty modern women are (actual reality younger sexual activity rates are down historically). This swath of voters has fed directly into Proud Boys and various other paramilitary groups hoping to claim some sort of manhood that promotes limitless desires, and no responsibilities. This mindset fits perfectly into Libertarian and Republican thinking.
Trump will again be a threat directly because white men will again overwhelmingly vote for him, period. The appeal of these pathetic whiny-ass manhood groups online also draws in clueless Black and Latino men, appealing to their own misogyny and clouding any thought that leopards will be eating faces as soon as they get the chance.

Varies with the scale and complexity of the product. Our GE assembly line made a couple models of GE and a couple secondary brands—mostly Hotpoint. The big difference was the speed of the assembly line, thus quality.

She was recognized as an outstanding student-athlete by the North East Athletic Conference in all four of her undergrad years. She kept involved in athletics even as a graduate student, competing in the 2019 World Deaf Basketball Championships and serving as an assistant coach for the Gallaudet women’s basketball team.
She’s still new to the team, so didn’t get a lot of time on the field. Besides, she’s already won gold medals with the USA’s deaf basketball team. Four of them, as a matter of fact, plus a bronze medal for good measure. Her latest championship in basketball came in July, a win over Ukraine in the World Deaf Basketball Championships.
After all that, it was time to try something new. She’d already dipped her toe back into soccer by becoming an assistant coach to Gallaudet’s women’s team (yes, she’s an assistant on both the basketball and soccer teams), but she wanted to get on the field.
“I was already aware of the Deaf National Soccer team but never bothered to reach out to try out since I was already playing for the USA Deaf Women’s National Basketball team,” she said. “I decided to try to play in a different sport. I finally submitted my interest form to the USA Deaf National Soccer team last January. I immediately received an invitation to training camp and the rest is history.”

I wouldn’t go that far, but I do note that things seem to mirror those points in the “War on Terror” in years gone by when offensive operations seemed to ramp up in sync with campaign seasons. As though Bibi thinks that the Israeli public will let him off the hook if he puts enough craters in Gaza and a sufficiently high Hamas body count in the process.

if Israel could withstand turning the other cheek, it would be starkly, blatantly obvious to the world what everyone already knows and won’t admit. As a letter to today’s electoral-vote.com points out
Hamas relies on human shields. In their mind, it’s their best defense, even if it’s morally reprehensible. Israel makes mistakes like any person or country. Israel is not perfect. They are also not the problem. Hamas is a cancer on the Palestinian people. With Hamas in the picture, there will never be peace. It will be long and bloody and world opinion will turn against Israel at some point. I suspect, however, that most Arab leaders will be happier when Hamas is gone.
And Israel cannot afford to turn the cheek, as another letter points out in the first paragraph
…history has shown that if the Arabs/Palestinians lay down their arms and offer peace, Israel will accept it. If Israel were to lay down its arms and offer peace, they will be slaughtered or expelled from a land they have inhabited for thousands of years.
While Israel is not blameless, especially in the past decade, the path to peace still solidly runs through acceptance by the Arab world in general and Palestinians in particular that Israel isn’t going anywhere and has a right to exist…

Why would the Dems want to remove Johnson? He’s great for them to campaign against next year, any government crises that he creates will only help in that effort, and watching Repub “moderates” squirm as they try to defend his ass and their own for supporting him is the cherry on top. Unless some party renegade who’s looking to commit political seppuku files a motion to vacate, I don’t expect any such talk from their caucus. Johnson is an albatross around his party’s neck, why would they want to change that? And if anything resembling the word “govern” is your answer, then you’re not being serious.

When I was in Boston last weekend, my friend and I went to a production of “Sweeney Todd” at Moonbox Productions, a theatre in Cambridge. There was a warning at the beginning for violence and horror. I was expecting it to be more bloody than it was, but it was IMHO rather tame. I mentioned this to my friend and he pointed out that while I had never seen a production of “Sweeney Todd”, I was at least familiar with the story and unlikely to be shocked.
It was a very good production on a small stage. Recommended.

the same way we have before:
- sending a message that way has never worked before because no one sees your ‘non-support’ as a message.
- there are better ways to send that message: get involved, be part of the system, participate in party politics where your voice can be heard in electing the (inside) people that matter
- remember how the dynamics of a two party race work. if you dont vote for your nominee, you ARE voting for theirs.

Five Nights At Freddy’s started out like most horror game franchises these days: Enough story scraps to justify the setting and that’s it. The rest was jump scares and the suspense generated trying to avoid such. The creators have since created a story to connect the games and explain WTF is going on, but a lot of it relies upon you being inquisitive enough to do more than just playing the game as intended. So it’s not surprising that attempting to translate that to film comes off as rather boring.

What amuses me about my dislike of FNAF and my daughter’s love of the FNAF movie is that both are a result of the same thing - predictability. I had no previous knowledge of the franchise, and my daughter is steeped in the lore (I didn’t even know it was based on a video game story). I’m like “yeah - that’s the bad guy” and “yeah - don’t trust her” at their first on-screen appearance and my daughter is “yeah - that’s part of fun - being ‘in’ on the knowing.”

Tonight if a kid knocks on my door dressed up like Rudy Giuliani they win the whole box of Scotchmallows because nobody can top that.

I’ve only briefly played the VR game, which was just lame jump scares.

I’m obviously on the wrong side of liking the film (Box office debut weekend of $80 Million US and $132 million worldwide is just WOW for this kind of film). I would have loved it if they could have translated some of the jump scares and suspense into the movie, but it doesn’t look like they really needed to do that. Again, just WOW on the box office.

And if anything resembling the word “govern” is your answer, then you’re not being serious.
i am being serious and not all pie in the sky.
no, i’m well past ‘govern’.
i know there are some who want to grind up the works so the house comes to a halt.
in reality it has got to minimally function.
israel, ukraine, the budget, etc.
and that’s being awfully lenient and limited on what ‘function’ means.
no lofty aspirations here. just three immediate, pressing issues.
there are enough D’s and Rs in support of israel that they wont let ‘nothing at all’ happen. same for the other two.
johnson is this:
if his ineptitude or intransigence, or ‘god is guiding me’ becomes so obvious, i could see someone saying ‘we can’t go on like this’.
and no, i dont think he’d be re-elected any more than kevin.

Most of the entertainment value in the franchise is in watching others play it just to see the funny shit they do in response to the jump scares. Hell, several YT celebs made their bones posting videos of their own playthroughs. The rest is in that particular kind of gamer that spent years trying to puzzle out the answers to all the mysteries on Lost only for the creators to go “Yeah, sure, we’ll go with that.”

The problem is that Republicans love that kind of bullshit. Tell a sane person that god is guiding you, and they’ll see that you’re nuts or lying. Tell a Republican and they’ll try to make you President.

Whoever wins, TFG will always have all those Club Champion golf trophies to console himself with.
I don’t think they allow those in prison.

I don’t think they allow those in prison.
Former crime-Presidents probably get fewer restrictions than a lesser-felon does. Maybe they’ll leave him with his belt too.

The last good vampire flick I watched was Let The Right One In (Swedish v.). It belongs in the top 10.
Top 3 for me personally.

Bibi is looking to cleanse Gaza and occupy that fertile and beachfront property.
And he’s using ‘protect our sovereignty ’ as cover. Losing a few thousand of your own citizens is nothing compared to the ROI.
/cynicism off.
Bibi is trying to avoid going to prison.
