Arizona AG officially unveils 9 new felony charges against Trump’s former chief of staff
Dee-Lite-Ful!
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes confirmed this week that Mark Meadows — who served as chief of staff in former President Donald Trump’s White House — has been officially served on nine felony charges related to her office’s ongoing fake electors investigation.
Legal news website Law & Crime reported Friday that the charges against Meadows have now been made public after it was previously reported that he and 17 others were the targets of a massive criminal probe. Meadows’ attorney, George Terwilliger, called the indictment a “blatantly political and politicized accusation,” and said the charges “will be contested and defeated.” The ex-president has not been indicted, but has been confirmed to be an unindicted co-conspirator according to investigators.
In addition to Meadows, other high-ranking Republicans were also hit with criminal charges. Law & Crime reported that Arizona Republican Party chair Kelli Ward and her husband Michael were charged in the indictment, along with Arizona GOP activists Tyler Bowyer, Nancy Cottle, Jacob Hoffman, Anthony Kern, James Lamon, Robert Montgomery, Samuel Moorhead, Lorraine Pellegrino and Gregory Safsten.
Others looped into the investigation but who have not been formally charged include former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and the now disbarred former Trump attorney John Eastman — the author of the “Eastman Memo” that laid out the strategy for giving Electoral College votes to Trump on January 6, 2021. Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis has also been named as a codefendant, though she has yet to be formally charged.
Arizona investigators are also expected to officially serve Trump campaign attorney Boris Epshteyn with felony charges, along with one-time Trump lawyer Christina Bobb. She has since joined the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) “election integrity team,” helping the RNC litigate 2024 election results in key battleground states, like Arizona. Prior to her work with Trump and the RNC, Bobb was an anchor at the far-right One America News Network.

I’m seeing women from the Trump White House being interviewed on msnbc today who continue to claim they support “his policies.” It’s just bizarre. Are they not reading or watching the news?
I challenge them to name one that he is unequivocal and consistent about and then explain why it is “right”

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear them say “It’s right because Jesus says so!”
re: #4 Dangerman
I think one of them mumbled something about “the border”, and then quickly said she didn’t support family separation. But I find their studied blindness about the future of their own healthcare options odd.
Not a one of them can name an unequivocal unambiguous policy position that can be discussed and debated

I’ll be 42 next week. I’ve dealt with cops more than most people. I personally know cops in my community. And they know how I feel about them and it shows because I’ve had to deal with them a lot. Yes, the naysayers would say “teleskiguy, you’re a convicted drunk driver.” Yes, I am. Three times. I’m comfortable saying my life has changed after that third conviction, where I had to do two months in the county jail and I was released on 13 March 2020. Weird fucken shit! All that said, those were three (3) encounters I’ve had with cops where they’re all up in my face. I’ve had dozens of such encounters. The cop profession attracts the scuzziest roidheads. I hear Border Patrol is just absolutely fucken dirty with the worst of the dregs…
re: #19 teleskiguy
What I know about cops is that I work as an IT drone in close proximity to them every day and with a tiny selection of exceptions, they are all massive assholes. In addition to that, my biological mother (whom I did not grow up with) used to preferentially date cops because they were her safest and most reliable source of cocaine.

My company, a huge part of which is a defense contractor, put out their quarterly report a week after they did a 5% layoff that had almost no input from management (they cut a guy who was one of two people working on one of our projects). One of the lines in there went something to the effect of “Generating cash for our shareholders is one of our major duties, and we fell short.” And I’m sitting there thinking to myself that “I’m pretty sure the primary goal should be getting the products to the US government on time and with good quality and you’re going to fail at that now.”

If that were true, if they’d gone crazy and just wanted to hurt people they’d have welcomed the ample legal justification offered by the violent counter-protesters, or they’d have weighed in and walloped everyone.
Instead, they condoned that violence, they admired it.
I’ve had a cop-free streak of about eight months! Last September I was contacted by law enforcement about a car crash that I was not involved with. Had to pay an attorney $2,000 to make that go away.

The rule today is the same rule that has reigned supreme for generations: A computer is only as smart as the people who programmed it (i.e. “Garbage In, Garbage Out”). Until someone discovers the ability to program self-learning and autonomous computers that can act independently of their programmers without prompting or guidelines, then the best we can hope to achieve with current technology are expert systems that can work well within the confines of their “expertise” and little else. Most everything else is the programming equivalent of teaching an especially smart animal a few party tricks.

Well, it looks like it might be possible that the Tories squeak in under 500 total council seats lost, but at present they’re still on trajectory for the worst local election losses since 1995. They managed to hold onto Tees Valley but the margin of victory was slimmer than last go around and the winner has announced that he’s ready to work with whoever is PM after the general elections even if that means working with Keir Starmer. Labour’s won three other mayoral elections so far, including a brand new one in the East Midlands and won in Sunak’s own backyard of North Yorkshire.
How are the Tories spinning all this bad news? In the time-honored way of conservatives everywhere: They’re lying their asses off that these were “midterm” elections (there’s less than a year left before they’re legally required to call general elections) and trying to push the “our message isn’t getting to the voters” BS. And they are pointedly avoiding any sort of acknowledge that the poll results show that Reform UK is eating their lunch and most of the votes Labour lost have gone to the Lib Dems or Greens instead of to Sunak and his cohort.

To be fair to the BBC, part of the reason is that Brexit technically is still on-going. If the Tories had allowed all the checks and restrictions to go into effect all at once, the country would have collapsed and the people would have been outside Westminster ages ago with torches and pitchforks. Instead, they’ve delayed things for years and implemented them in stages so as to cushion the blow. That way whenever fecal matter hits the rotary impeller, they can lie their asses off to the press about “COVID,” “Ukraine,” or (their favorite) “THE EU IS PUNISHING US!”

THe real tell to me, and forgotten by most media, is she also killed a goat at the same time. A male goat. That she had not had neutered, making it a real danger to anyone. So, because of how she treated that animal, she decided she had to kill it also. At the same place she had left the dog’s corpse (she did not even bury the dog apparently, choosing to just leave it at the quarry).
So she shot the goat. And failed to kill it. She then left the hurt and wounded animal to go back to her car to reload. No only was she an evil person for how she treated ‘farm’ animals she was also a failure at killing them. On other people’s property.
I was having a hard time coming up with another guess, given the letters I’d eliminated. And then it hit me.

GOP lawmaker complains new marriage bill would make ‘ripe and fertile’ teens get abortions https://t.co/v1hybJhmxs
— Matthew Chapman (@fawfulfan) May 3, 2024
During a debate in the New Hampshire House of Representatives this week, Republican state Rep. Jess Edwards voiced his opposition to a bill setting the minimum age of marriage to 18 — because it would induce “ripe and fertile” 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds to have more abortions instead of settling down and having a family.
The remarks were reported by the New Hampshire Bulletin, following extensive and spirited debate that ultimately saw the bill pass the state house. The legislation would replace current state law that allows 16- and 17-year-olds to get married if they have the consent of a guardian.
“If we continually restrict the freedom of marriage as a legitimate social option, when we do this to people who are a ripe, fertile age and may have a pregnancy and a baby involved, are we not in fact making abortion a much more desirable alternative, when marriage might be the right solution for some freedom-loving couples?” said Edwards.
“This is the frickin’ mentality that we have to deal with in New Hampshire. Children (girls) should be allowed to get married because they are ‘ripe and fertile,’” wrote state Rep. Wendy Thomas. “Looking for groomers? Look no further.”
“I’m tired of being called a groomer when Republicans are the ones fantasizing about ‘fertile’ teenagers and demanding legal child marriage,” wrote fellow state Rep. Alissandra Murray, an openly transgender and nonbinary community organizer who has worked on abortion access. “Anyway, they lost - once Sununu signs SB 359, child marriage will finally be illegal in the state of NH.”
It has taken a bit longer than I expected after Roe v. Wade was reversed, but with Florida’s six week ban having gone into effect, abortion has effectively been banned south of Virginia from the atlantic coast to the Texas-New Mexico border, leaving millions of women who can’t afford or don’t have the time for a long distance trip lacking critical healthcare.

Abortion access might be restored in Florida in November, but the referendum has to get 60% of the vote to pass, and that is going to be a very heavy lift, because the forced birthers will get every voter to the polls they can to try to prevent that threshold from being met.

The South already had maternal mortality rates on par with developing countries. This will only get worse, with minorities being hurt the worst. All part of their plan to control women’s behavior.
I know I’m probably beating a dead horse
It is reasonable to concluded Trump was concerned about Melania’s response if the Daniels/McDougal stories were to come out.
It is not (imo) reasonable to conclude that family was the only or the primary or even one of the primary driving reasons for this elaborately constructed scheme.
“I’m only concerned for my family finding out about my wretched and anti-familial behavior. Any other unintended consequences, like should the election get some monumental but totally accidental benefit, well, that’s good too”. No, that’s not reasonable.

US and Saudi Arabia nearing agreement on security pact, sources say
This is the agreement that likely lead Hamas to attack. The Saudis would get more US protection from China and Iran. There would also be normalization of relations between the Saudis and Israel, with SA recognizing Israel’s right to exist, much like Egypt. This would then pave the way for the India-Middle East Economic Corridor to completely remake the economies of the region. Biden has the first plan for the ME that could really work.
We have to get the war stopped. But there are pathways forward that could produce an entirely new Middle East. All because of Dark Brandon.

One of the (definitely near the bottom) reasons I try not to do anything wrong is sitting and listen to people testify against me. It would drive my blood pressure through the roof. I have enough trouble sitting on a jury for that reason.

Yeah, it’s not great during witness testimony for a juror to blurt out, “Yeah, I did that once…”

Is he allowed to attack the prosecutors like this?
Yes.
The gag order applies to witnesses and court employees and their families.
It allows him to attack the DA and the judge.
Of course, it’s really stupid for him to attack the folks who will determine his sentence if he’s found guilty. But then, we’re talking about asshole TFG.
re: #19 teleskiguy
This tracks. Anytime civil unrest occurs like this the cops go crazy, because they’re goons who just want to hurt people.
My interactions with the police has been about 50/50: either they genuinely try to help or they’re very clear that they absolutely hate civilians. My running joke is that when ever I complain about my interactions with the cops to other white people, I’m apparently the only white person in the history of the US that has had problems with them. The usually litany of “Well, they’re just doing their job” or “Well, they had a reason”, and so on.
I made that crack to a retired LEO I knew well enough, and they accused me of being racist. So yeah, I try to avoid them when possible.

Did Daltrey turn into a right wing wacko?
I think Daltrey’s been that way for a while. I’ve seen a couple of interviews where he basically said he was a global warming denier (along the lines of “I don’t think humans have the ability to change the earth’s climate”) and thinks Big Pharmacy may have the cure for cancer and is sitting on it.
Plus, I think Townshend indicated he was a Brexiter.
Just admire artists for the art they create and avoid meeting them at all costs.
Assuming TFG is found guilty, how long might we have to wait on sentencing?

Shit like that is why I cannot stand this fucking “Fall down to your knees with tears in your eyes and worship every cop you meet” mindset that most Americans seem to have.

Because they can punish those parts of society that you believe need to be punished. Of course, as soon as you are in their sights, your position immediately changes.

Granted Townshend tends to flutter around different political views he did say this last October:
“I don’t know about Rishi Sunak,” he said, revealing his scepticism for the UK’s current leadership. “I don’t know about the Tory party, per se. They say when you get older, you drift from being on the left to on the right. I suppose there was a gentle drift with me.”
“I’m 78, and between 60 and 70, I think I was starting to drift slowly to the right, but… fuck! I would line them all up and shoot them,” he added candidly.
I know the feeling.
Daltrey pretty much has been a Tory for a long time, blaming Labor, in his words, for the huge influx of immigrants that destroyed the ambitions of young people, or that, again his words, the EU continues to punish Britain for Brexit, which he voted for. He loved Thatcher because she lowered taxes on rich men like him.

Catching up:
On interactions with police: 100% negative from age 10-30, with me being pulled over all the time and followed at stores and I was an honor student and altar boy at the time who tried really hard to stay out of trouble. But I was an other with wild hair so target on me since childhood
An anecdote from college: 1981, I was using the bearded longish hair Southern Fried Rocker look when I first went to University of Arizona. Very early in my attendance I exited the Student Union wearing flip flops and shorts, half reading the latest Rolling Stone magazine.
There were Jewish students and Muslim students about 40 feet away and they were taunting and getting chippy with each other. The Jewish kids were affluent city kids from NY, Chicago and LA, and the Muslim kids were affluent members of society from their home countries
All of a sudden I got horse collar tackled to the ground by campus police with an admonition to get the hell out. And I look over to the protesters and both sides looked on approvingly at my body slamming.
Lesson learned. I cut off my beard and cut my hair really short and blended. At end of semester we are having a finals are over party at the dorm and as we blaze, this kid says man whatever happened to that scary dude-so glad he left. I am wondering who they are talking about so I say ?! And they say he had long hair and a beard, but he left before you got here. Another ?! Because I moved in day 1
Then I pull out my driver’s license photo with my previous look and everybody gasped in shock
Go figure
Now I am an old driving anonymous car, no one hassles me at all

So I had to go to the Middle East a bunch back in late 1990’s and I regrew a beard and mustache. Second to Last time I went though I was clean shaven and I got totally hassled at customs in Kuwait and Bahrain
So last time I went in March 2001 I regrew beard and was treated great
Then I had to shave after 11 Sep 2001 because I got profiled as a terrorist at every airport in Continental United States
Nowadays Male pattern baldness mandates a short cut for me else I end up looking like the boss from Dilbert

Other than sore arms, and maybe one day of feeling tired, I don’t recall having any substantial reactions to any of the vaccinations, including shingles

Memories of a “distasteful encounter” with the LAPD when I was walking with my girlfriend and a here comes a “We Serve And Protect” car with it’s sirens and we hear them tell us to stop where we are.
2 officers get our of the car and demand our IDs. OK I have a T-shirt and long trousers on. She had a halter top and Daisy Duke shorts on with a fanny pack.
Oh, did I say her skin color was a lot darker than mine?
Officers accuse me of picking up a prostitute. Maybe they listened to the Brick House song by the Commodores a bit too much…
So we pull out our driver’s licenses and lo and behold the addresses match. Same address. Same apartment. Hot Damn even the Zip code matches. At that time believe it or not a dorky Jewish guy and his black girlfriend actually GASP!!!!!!
…lived together…
so the officers made snide remarks about her calling her a Penthouse Pet. She replied thank you and do have a nice day gentlemen.
They got back in their wagon and went off to probably harass their next victims.
