carpenter bee living in the rail of my balcony. I only know because I thought he was just a standard bumble bee but then he flew over to the railing and disappeared inside a suspiciously perfect round hole. He’s a carpenter bee who does really excellent work. And doesn’t seem to be particular aggressive. I’ve had to shoe him out of the apartment a couple of times, not because I was nervous around him, but because it’s like having a weedeater crank up a couple of feet away, and I’m working in here.
