Moronic Convergence Watch
Here comes another “newly formed” group, calling itself 2004 Racism Watch, demanding that President Bush pull his campaign ad that contains a partial face shot of a man who could possibly be construed as “Middle Eastern:” Bush campaign asked to pull ‘offensive’ ad. (Hat tip: Tim Rosnau.)
That darned “truth” thing really is inconvenient and offensive, isn’t it? I say we stamp it out!
But get a load of the “advisory committee” for this group. How long before we hear the media calling this a “non-partisan” group?
Actor Ed Asner, a spokesman for the group and member of its advisory committee, called the use of the picture “disturbing,” and, in a statement, compared it to a controversial ad used by the 1988 Bush-Quayle campaign to highlight problems in the Massachusetts prison furlough system.
Other members of the group’s advisory committee include actors Ed Begley Jr., and Susan Sarandon; former U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga. and authors Noam Chomsky and Barbara Ehrenreich.
