The Attack on Kerry’s Website

I’m calling for an investigation into what John F. Kerry knew, and when he knew it.

Specifically referring to the hundreds, possibly thousands of bogus web pages submitted—and displayed!—at his official campaign web site.

Was Kerry just so out of touch with the day-to-day workings of his campaign that he didn’t even know about the offer to host a page, extended to anyone on the internet?

Who’s responsible for his site? His campaign manager’s secretary’s 12-year old Dreamweaver virtuoso? This isn’t even a security “breach.” They went away on vacation and left the front door open.

Any web designer with a site or two under her belt knows that you don’t do something like this. You don’t give unregistered access to the web, on the web site and in the name of the leading Democratic candidate for President of the United States!

What? They’re not being paid enough?

Why hasn’t anyone been fired yet?

Think about it. Think about all the people, interests, and enemies who would love an opening like this. Think about the propaganda possibilities. Think about the very real national security issues—because if the web team in charge of Kerry’s site is this clueless, how many other security holes have they left open?

This should be a big story. It shows an endemic lack of concern about security in the Kerry campaign that is incredibly disturbing.

Children are naive -- they trust everyone. School is bad enough, but, if you put a child anywhere in the vicinity of a church, you're asking for trouble.
