In Britain’s Telegraph, Adam Nicholson laments the slaughter of innocents in Beslan, managing to write a flowery, weepy in-depth article without mentioning a single important fact about the perpetrators of the atrocity. It’s as if all those people died in an earthquake; the word “kill” does not even appear: Beslan meant nothing to us; now it’s a by-word for wickedness. (Hat tip: Steven Den Beste.)
