about fear
Tonight as I was driving I heard a real war-hawk on a talk show, one of those guys who lives for danger and conflict. A warrior. A guy with whom I probably wouldn’t have agreed very much before September 11th. But he said something that resonated in my fragile psyche, when asked whether the media was “spreading fear” with stories of biological weapons. He said, “Fear is good for you! It’s how you stay alive!”
That breaks it down to the molecular level.
I won’t let fear stop me from designing the database for Surf Academy’s registration system. I won’t let it stop me from debugging a mysterious problem on another site we manage. And I won’t let it stop me from living. (If you call this living.) Keep moving. Rope-a-dope. Pick and roll. I can deal with this.
