Spanish foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, former official EU toady to Yasser Arafat and author of this bilious rant against the United States, now says he wants to “help” Israel: Spanish FM eyes chance for improved Israeli relations with Arab world.

TEL AVIV (AFP) - Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos said he could help Israel rally the support of Arab states and advance the chances for peace, not only with the Palestinians but throughout the region.

“A very good relation between Israel and the Arab world could be a reality,” said Moratinos, the European Union’s former envoy to the region, after meeting Israeli counterpart Silvan Shalom in Tel Aviv.

“I offered my colleague Minister Shalom to work in order that this era of peace and prosperity in the Mediterranean will be created,” he told a joint press conference.
