So many idiotarians to choose from and only one vote!

2 SkippyMoment  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:11:25pm

Ooh, Ooh! I got first! whoohoo! Go Skippy, Go Skippy!

3 Promethea  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:12:06pm

Last year I pushed for George Soros to win, but this year I have to say that Dan Rather will have my vote.

Go Dan!

4 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:12:52pm

Well, geeze, judging from the previous thread I'd say somebody is trying to set up that worthless turd at the UN as IOTY!

What's next, we'll have to vote on Diebold machines?!

5 Perry  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:13:55pm

John Kerry oughtta be on the list. Dan Rather should win, mind you, but Kerry should get to run. And lose.

6 Raistlan  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:13:56pm

I didn't follow all the comments on the nomination thread, but John Kerry seems a noticable exclusion...

7 Raistlan  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:14:35pm

Per Fiskie tradition, I hope The Large One comes in second again...

8 chewydog  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:15:28pm

Everyone who voted for John L. Kerry.?

9 bigel[deleted]  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:15:30pm
10 pookleblinky  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:16:21pm

I'm going for Dan Rather.

11 Catttt  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:16:22pm

An embarrassment of riches, in a negative sorta way.

12 KWH  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:17:04pm

So many idiots, so few votes...

13 Self Hating Muslim  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:17:09pm

I nominate: Indy Media.

14 TaggartTranscontinental  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:17:31pm

Quite a list you have going, Charles. Are you sure it isn't time to break the award into multiple categories? You could have best overall Fiskie, best supporting Fiskie, best NGO Fiskie, best newspaper Fiskie...

My vote goes to Michael Moore. I would have said Barbra Streisand, but she's suffere enough after realizing this year that she is a surplus to humankind.

15 kevo561  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:17:44pm

My vote goes to Dan Rather.

16 Mike7411  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:18:40pm

The Democratic Underground must win. There is no larger more insane group of idiots on this or any other planet.

Mike7411

17 Bubble Girl  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:18:44pm

Okay, I remember the thread and John Kerry was nominated quite a few times, more than others above, what, Charles, feeling sorry for Kerry.

WHERE's KERRY?

18 Connecticut Yankee  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:19:36pm

I'd add Clare Short to the list.

19 Kylaer  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:19:44pm

I nominate Jan Egeland.

20 christheprofessor  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:19:47pm

I've forgotten, what exactly is an Idiotarian again?

21 michaelg  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:20:02pm

Springsteen! I used to love his music, still do some. But he's proved himself to be an idoit.

22 rin  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:20:06pm

I'm with Bigel, in that Michael Moore is not an idiotarian. Is he capital E evil? No, just a selfserving, greedy, jacka$$. The dollar signs are appropriate, MM is ALL about the money (and the attention).

23 Earth2moonbat  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:20:17pm

How about Canada?

24 golem akbar  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:20:19pm

Good list. Where is Moveon.org?
I still am rooting for George Soros, or George $oro$. He funded it all.

25 LSD  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:21:31pm

Charles,

What about Sandy Berger and "stuff yer shorts" -Gate

26 LesLein  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:21:50pm

I'll probably end up voting for Rather, but Andrew Sullivan merits an honorable mention.

27 Charles  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:22:25pm

Kerry just doesn't seem like an idiotarian so much as an opportunistic, ambitious politician to me. If the consensus is to add him, I will -- but Dan Rather and Michael Moore and their ilk are much more in the idiotarian vein, I think.

28 TMA  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:22:36pm

is Carter ineligible this year?

29 Bubble Girl  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:24:15pm

John "Bring it on" Kerry

I'm fighting for you!
Commander Kerry reporting for duty!
I'm sure if you asked Mary Cheney, a lesbian, you know she's a lesbian
I wish people wouldn't bring up the past
Did you know I fought in Vietnam
I fought in Vietnam, I know how to lead
I can't talk about abortion except, the third world countries they need it for "unwanted children"
I know what it's like to lead in time of war
Did you know I served in Vietnam
The Swiftvets are liars, all liars
I voted for, before I voted against the 87 billion
Bush wants to secretly bring back the Draft
I served in Vietnam, not like those draft dodgers who went to Canada and those who were in the Guard

30 J.D.  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:24:31pm

After lobbying hard for George "I fancied myself as some kind of god ... ,"... "If truth be known, I carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control, otherwise they might get me in trouble." Soros last year, this year I'm undecided (especially since my "Legacy Media" nomination didn't make the cut *sniff*). I'm torn!

31 Charles  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:26:05pm

Yep, one of the few rules is that you can only win once, so Carter is ineligible.

32 militarybrat  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:27:04pm

I'm going to have to really lean toward Kos. Hubby worked with one of the contractors that was supposed to be "screwed", and so Kos holds a special place in my anti-heart.

However, and I volunteer to help with this, multiple categories would make things more mentally smooth for me.

I'd even dress up in my computer using best to attend the ceremony!

33 Bubble Girl  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:27:21pm

Charles,

Your point is valid about Kerry, but he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that even an opportunistic politician can be an idiot. He should be on the list, perhaps I would be the only one to vote for him, Free Kerry, Charles, let him be in the competition, come on Charles, Kerry needs a chance to win something this year...

34 Perry  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:28:12pm

What about Teraaayzuh?

35 militarybrat  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:28:44pm

I hestitate to mention what exactly my computer best is, but you wouldn't want to come over when I'm so attired.

36 militarybrat  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:29:36pm

OOH! Teresa Heinz! Wow, that's a good idea that didn't occur to me.

She at least deserves a lifetime achievement award.

37 Darleen  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:29:45pm

What a distinguished list! Wow...that the year has produced such a plethora of LLL inanity and insanity!

One Kerry I wish was on the list was that sister of Jefin', Diane(?) Kerry..who tried to interfer in Australia's elections by saying Howard's support of GW made the Aussies a bigger target for terrorists.

Maybe a dishonorable mention category?

38 Perry  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:30:22pm

militarybrat, LOL!

39 nagasaki_hata  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:30:31pm

Mister Daniel "Red" Rather-Blather, CBS Dick, has my vote

40 .45ACP  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:30:37pm

Ted Rall, hands down. His stink reeks far above even the pile of turds he's lumped in with. He's human garbage.

41 militarybrat  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:30:42pm

If Moore ingests one or more of the other nominees and then wins, whose name goes on the actual award?

42 Al di Grandpa  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:30:58pm

Knee-jerk Democrats whose grandparents and parents voted for FDR...and haven't been able to think or vote for themselves since.

Idiots. I tell you.

43 jlfintx  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:31:13pm

D.R. gets my vote.

44 lah-dee-dah-dah  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:31:56pm

Linda Ronstadt--open mouth, insert foot, disgust your audience. We Blew By You!

45 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:32:52pm

Unlike Moore and Kerry, Annan seems to be genuinely stupid.

That's gotta count for something.

46 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:33:04pm

Well, I don't see Schmerel on the list so my vote:

For concentrating on GW Bush to the exclusion of JF Kerry,
For creating lies to try to derail Mr. Bush,
For knowingly using and promoting falsified documents against Mr. Bush,
For refusing to admit to and appologize for using forged documents even when faced with overwhelming evidence of the same,
and
For other crimes against humanity

Dan Rather.

47 Anonymous Al  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:33:24pm

Charles,

If #28 is to be taken as one vote for Carter, I would like to cast a second.

48 POL_CAT12  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:33:43pm

CHER, anyone?

49 militarybrat  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:33:45pm

You know, although there have been many incidences of "shake your head and sigh" behavior from Cleland, perhaps he deserves a "Fiskie Moment" award for his little letter delivery service.

50 Darleen  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:35:14pm

and Oh... Tey-RAY-zah "shove it" Heinz Kerry should get the Missed Congeniality award.

51 ajackson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:35:29pm

Charles - a question:

I was looking for a good definition of 'idiotarian' (as opposed to an operating definition; i.e. Jimmy Carter). ESR defines 'idiotarian' as: "... the species of delusion within the moral community of mankind that gives aid and comfort to terrorists and tyrants operating outside it." Since you coined the term - do you agree with this definition?

52 braindirt  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:38:04pm

I'd like to nominate Osama Bin Laden for:
1.Endorsing John Kerry just before the election.
2.Losing Afghanistan--- and helplessly watching democracy appear for the first time in recorded history at that location.
3. Worse for him yet--- women are voting.
4.There are now Jeep Cherokees riding around on the streets of Baghdad--- all thanks to OBL.
I know he's not really supposed to qualify for this award, but he is an Idiot anyway--- whether he's alive, or dead.
There. That's my rant.

53 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:38:34pm

Kofi Annan all the way. Who do I have to bribe this time?

54 Charles  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:39:00pm

ajackson: yes, that's a pretty good definition.

55 Al di Grandpa  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:39:10pm

A lotta moonbats insulted they didn't make the list. Idiot wannabes... how weird is that?

56 steveg  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:39:42pm

I think Ted Rall deserves a special ring of hell.

57 TotallySirius  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:40:50pm

Kofi could make a strong showing.

but its not over till the fat man explodes(Mr. Creosote aka Mik Al-Moore),he gets my vote

58 jelo  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:40:55pm

All those poor folk that paid big bucks of their hard earned money to see F/911 are the clear winners (losers)...

Moore travels/eats/sleeps well now thanks to them!

59 djvaselaar  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:42:05pm

May I suggest George Galloway and Cynthia McKinney?

60 Jem Finch  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:42:15pm

sorryeverybody.com and maureen dowd are at the top of my idiotarian of the year list.

61 christheprofessor  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:42:24pm

I'm not exactly sure of what a Fiskie is, but I'll vot for... the suicide bomber.

62 Rearden  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:43:08pm

Why is Baghdad Bob on the list? He's so 2003.

63 maumau  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:43:33pm

I really don't see John Kerry as being an idiot by any means; however, those Dems who voted for him in primaries thinking that we, the people, would somehow elect a Massachusetts liberal in these trying times...well, Im pretty sure they qualify as idiots. Kerry was just dancing with what brung him...

Now, having said that, Uncle Walter Cronkite gets my vote.

64 Joshua (not a hamster) Scholar  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:44:03pm

Well I think for getting the spirit of Robert "I deserved to be attacked" Fisk down to the last crossed 't' and dotted 'i', the "appologists" at SorryEverybody.com are winners, hands down.

Also you can't find a more purer supply of unending, gamey Morlock buttocks.

65 stoj  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:44:08pm

Dr. David Hailey? Nominated in the "Educator" category...

66 SwissTex  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:44:40pm

Whoopi Golberg

67 Megan  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:45:10pm

From the list I'd say Kofi Annan, Zapatero, DU,or the Guardian. They all take themselves way to seriously. But I think The Daily Mirror writers should be named Idiotarians of the Year for the cover of that one paper right after the election calling all Americans who voted for Bush stupid.
How can [insert # of leftist writers who work for Daily Mirror here] Be Such Idiotarians?

69 IowaGirl  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:46:04pm
... the species of delusion within the moral community of mankind that gives aid and comfort to terrorists and tyrants operating outside it.

Right.

John Kerry

He was the idiot all the other idiots put their idiot effort toward.

70 ajf  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:46:05pm

#29 Bubble Girl

And don't forget the "Global Test"

73 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:46:47pm

SwissTex

If you go that route you might as well just say Hollywood.

74 Darleen  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:47:21pm

Chevy Chase gave a good late shot at the list. But as usual, he doesn't even have the talent to carry off excellence in idiotarian speech.

75 TotallySirius  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:48:02pm

Just realized this thread is for nominations

Egelund
McKinney
Wonkette

76 djvaselaar  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:48:10pm

On second thought, perhaps the idiotarians truly worthy of the award are the ones who voted Cynthia McKinney back into office...

I would suggest others, but they already appear to be on the list.

77 Luigi  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:49:03pm

Kofi deserves an lifetime achievement award for his Jackson Hole ski trip while the poor of the world were drowning.

This guy is in a different class from the Frankens and Springsteens of this world. He's up there with Nero.

78 Perry  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:49:36pm

The BBC should be mentioned, but Kofi is truly the biggest world-class loser on the list.

79 bigel[deleted]  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:49:43pm
80 Smit  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:50:13pm

{subliminal message} Vote Kofi Annan, Idiotarian of the year. Vote Kofi Annan, Idiotarian of the year. Vote Kofi Annan, Idiotarian of the year. Vote Kofi Annan, Idiotarian of the year. Vote Kofi Annan, Idiotarian of the year. Vote Kofi Annan, Idiotarian of the year. {/subliminal message}

In related news, the Du is having a run off between Lenin and Kerensky. Lenin is winning.

Here I'd insert a rolling eyes smiley, if we had 'em, which we dont. But that's a good thing.

Poll question: Kerensky or Lenin?

81 Al di Grandpa  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:51:04pm

Lifetime Idiotarian Award:

Jesse "It ain't over yet"' Jackson

82 bp sf  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:51:18pm

Talentless Sean John "Vote or Die" Puffy Combs Jr.

83 ferris  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:51:56pm

I'd like the chance to vote for Kerry before I vote against him. Again.

84 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:52:57pm

#80 Smit

1. Kerensky was a warmongerer.

Lenin supported peace.

LMAO! It's a wonder these people remember to breathe.

Warmongererererer!

85 braindirt  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:53:24pm

#58 jelo

All those poor folks that paid big bucks of their hard earned money...

You're absolutely correct that they deserve to be considered, but who said it was "their" money? It was probably our tax money they received from some government program or other.

86 RBMN  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:53:36pm

The key to being like Fisk, is an ability to repeatedly misrepresent the facts, repeatedly vilify the innocent, and repeatedly excuse the evil cruelty of the terrorists, and yet, do it with a blissful ignorant confidence, with no hint that you even realize, one bit, how ignorant and insane you really are.

Who but Michael Moore can fill those big shoes, in 2004?

87 CowboyEngineer  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:53:45pm

Ted Rall. He is beneath contempt. Pure evil.

88 Wicksy  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:54:39pm

Oh and the Guardian cartoonist... whatsisname... Steve Bell?
Or would he come collectively under The Guardian?

Slightly OT:

Last night on the BBC's Winners and Losers 2004 awards...

Michael Moore was a LOSER!
Dubya was a WINNER!

I was gonna also nominate the BBC for the Fiskie award, but after that I dont think I'll bother!

89 oldengr  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:55:02pm

Charles, how many times can I vote (not necessarily for the same person)? Thanks.

Do I need to register and show proof of residence first? :)

90 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:56:01pm

Is it just me or are these LLL types out of their freakin' minds! Lenin or Kerinsky! These people's heros are commies for crying out loud!

I want to add one to the list - the Blue States.

91 Orson Buggy  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:56:54pm

Dan Rather for the Fiskie!

92 Powderfinger  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:57:21pm

Last year, I went for the whole UN.

But this year, Kofi is the entire package. Width, breadth and depth of idiocy, a bucketful of corruption, two blind eyes. He the perfect candidate.

This year, I'm with Kofi. If he wins, can we throw him the f**k out?

93 TotallySirius  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:57:24pm

#80 Smit

I would have shot em both.

94 mollyb  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:58:59pm

Sorry, I can't remember the guy's name: The British newpaper columnist who regretted that there was not an American-president assassinator on hand.

Can't think how to google this.

Somebody remember?

#73 theparson

Hi parson!

{{{theparson}}}

96 chewydog  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 3:59:11pm

Hollywood is in a class by itself, and should have its own catagory. They are just reading script to be liked and invited to the right parties.
The media and political types on the other hand, are far more dangerous, as people take what they say literally. People who watch 60min II for example whould have believed blather and his fake but accurate.
I could be bribed.

97 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:00:26pm

Okay, so far it looks like I've got Smit, Thom, and Powderfinger with me on the Kofi vote. Who else?

Charles, when do we vote and where did the polls go?

98 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:00:40pm

Hi, Skippy!

{{{Skippy}}}

99 David_Blue  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:00:48pm

He can't win, but anyway I wish belatedly to nominate Bernard Bot, the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands.

After Beslan, the European Union issued a "please explain" to the Russians. Bernard Bot, the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, holding the EU presidency, said it: "all countries in the world need to work together to prevent tragedies like this. But we also would like to know from the Russian authorities how this tragedy could have happened." (link)

I thought this, demanding explanations from the victims rather than those behind the killers, was the most offensive statement of moral idiocy in 2004.

Unfortunately EU flacks are unfairly disadvantaged as idiotarian nominations, because they're so dull and replaceable. Collectively, the EU line is disgusting, but individuals don't stand out, that's the EU way. However on this occasion Mr. Bot excelled himself.

100 braindirt  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:00:57pm

John Edwards for commenting, "Vote for John Kerry--- and the crippled will walk again".

101 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:01:35pm

I love you, ZB but I gotta stick with Rather.

105 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:03:03pm
Lawrence O’Donnell

Hmm ... are the mentally ill eligible? That seems vaguely cruel or something ...

106 RBMN  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:03:06pm

If Jimmy Carter and Robert Byrd were not so pathetically senile, they'd deserve to be on the list this year too.

107 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:04:01pm

#101 theparson

Rather isn't really an idiotarian, is he? Malicious, a liar, and a fraud ... but idiotarian?

108 garnier  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:04:12pm

I vote for a Dan Rather/John Kerry tie.

Dan's humiliation symbolically marked the end of the unchallenged dominance of the leftist media. Kerry's defeat symbolized the practical consequence of this decline as Democrats were scrambling to come up with a distinct message that didn't sound totally insane.

The poverty of the leftist voice, both official and grassroots, was pointed up by the undeniable sogginess of the Kerry campaign where the best the former communist sympathizer could do was to say of a Republican "I'd do what he's doing, only better."

The grassroots left have simply parted ways with reality and signalled this too many times to the general public with their frightening and childish hatefests.

What is it about dressing up like freaks and calling the President a "Nazi" that you thought would appeal to voters?

Rather/Kerry for Fiskie idiotarians 2004!

109 hornet  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:04:18pm

UN SEC GEN Kofi Annan gets my vote. I would vote for Kerry, but I want to see him come in second again.

110 Powderfinger  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:04:39pm

#97 zulubaby

I'm willing to lobby. I will also conduct electioneering within 100 feet of the polling place.

I'm on a mission. For Kofi...

111 Smit  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:04:50pm

#84 Thom - It's a pity they remember to breath... takes all sorts I s'pose ;-)

#93 TotallySiriius - Lenin, for sure. I had never read the communist manifesto until about two weeks ago. I recomend it. It's flippin' hilarious.

112 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:05:08pm

Maybe #14 is right, it might be time to have categories.

Like:
Politician IOTY
Celebrity IOTY
Group IOTY
etc.

113 chewydog  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:05:22pm

After the other night with his Swift Veterans are scum comments, I nominate GORDON

114 jaxinman  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:05:43pm

Dan Rather, not because there are no other deserving candidates, but because he definitely "stepped on it" more than anyone else.

I'd go for MM, but as a previous post suggested, he doesn't need any more "awards". It is better that he is IGNORED for life.

Kerry is a politician, so he just did what politicians do.

.jax

115 Steve M  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:05:55pm

Dan Rather is certainly a prize clot but too irrelevant outside of the USA. Claire Short is definitely the sort of thing that you wouldn't want to tread on because she would muck up your shoes but basically she's insignificant. I'd hate to give Michael Moore even more publicity.

So for a truly world class Idiotarian who manages so well to combine an evil ineffectiveness with blind stupidity, all in an air of total hypocricy and a sea of corruption, it's got to be Kofi.

116 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:05:58pm

Thom, work your magic on theparson.

I don't agree that Kerry should be included. He's not significant enough. He's not exactly influencing world events here.

117 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:05:59pm

At any rate, back to the crucial question:

Kerensky or Lenin?

118 jrdroll  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:06:32pm

What no Krugman?

119 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:07:10pm

#116 zulubaby

I'll do what I can.

Maybe if dear ol' Kofi wins, one of the NYers will deliver his statue in person!

120 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:07:13pm

#107 Thom

Rather isn't really an idiotarian, is he? Malicious, a liar, and a fraud ... but idiotarian?

To whom on this list would these attributes not apply?

121 TotallySirius  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:07:31pm

Jesse Jackson should be a perpetual nominee,as well as Hillary,Nostrilitis Waxmann,TK and Al Sharpton

122 Powderfinger  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:07:45pm

I'm with Thom. Rather isn't an idiotarian. Dan-o knew exactly what he was doing. His idiocy is restricted to his thinking that he wouldn't be questioned.

That's ivory tower mentality, not real idiocy.

123 splutnik  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:08:34pm

That is a very hard list to choose from... But I have to choose "Sorryeverybody.com" because that is the largest database of complete itiots I have ever encountered.

124 csva  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:08:51pm

I don't see how anyone (with the exception of the saudi royal family) could beat mikey moore!

"The game is in the refrigerator... The Jell-O is jiglin', the eggs are coolin', and the butter is getting hard..."

125 kido21x  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:09:01pm

Clare Short. The centerfold for a form over substance mag.

126 Rancher  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:10:23pm

Michael Moore

Good night all and have a happy new year!

127 Powderfinger  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:11:31pm

#116 zulubaby

He's not exactly influencing world events here.

That's a significant consideration. Rather just embarassed himself. Kofi is actively screwing the world up.

Jimmah won for screwing the world up. St Pancake won for being breathtakingly stupid. Kofi is both, plus dirty, it seems.

128 Smit  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:11:45pm

I forgot:

Vote Kofi. Corruption & self-righteousness with a victim complex. Idiotarian par excellence.

Vote Kofi.

129 Cog  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:11:48pm

I would like to nominate Al Jazeera.

130 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:12:03pm

#120 theparson

Maybe Charles can weigh in again, but for me "idiotarian" has an ineffable air of schtoopidity about it. Like the Idiotarian Extraordinaire, Robert Fisk.

Rather lacks that air. He's just a partisan hack.

So, of the ones on the list I'd include people such as:

Jacques Chirac
Bruce Springsteen
SorryEverybody.com
Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero
Noam Chomsky
Sean Penn
(et al)

You know, dumbasses like that.

131 secsailor  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:12:13pm

I agree that John "I actually voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it" Kerry should be nominated.

I would also like to nominate:

Teresa "Let them go naked" Heinz-Kerry

Richard "I tried to warn them" Clark

132 mollyb  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:12:31pm

#102 Wicksy
#103 J.D.

Thanks for the Charlie Brooker reminder (ew, ick!). I'll go reread.

Can we add him, Charles? Maybe a nomination will stop him from growing into one of these big-league, capital "f" Fiskie-types.

133 RBMN  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:12:59pm

Prof. Robert Jensen isn't eligible. He was OBVIOUSLY working for Karl Rove's Republican Voter Turnout Team. Jensen did a fantastic job too.

134 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:13:16pm
After the other night with his Swift Veterans are scum comments, I nominate GORDON

chewydog, Gordon is too stupid!

--

Powderfinger, I'm relying on you ... Last year I desperately wanted Kofi to win, offered bribes, etc., and it still didn't pan out. I feel more confident this time around with you, Smit and Thom campaigning with me.

135 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:14:44pm

Thom

Continue, I'm listening.

136 jelo  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:14:57pm

#85 braindirt

Don't know whose money was spent, but I really meant "Fools" rather than "poor folk'.

2004 LGF Robert Fisk Award for Idiotarian of the Year (“Fiskie” for short).

Moore and Rather should not be classified as Idiotarians, they are much worse.

I stand by my nomination of the "Fools".

137 braindirt  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:15:41pm

I'm putting in my vote early for the 2008 Fiskie: Al Gore--- he's apparently going to run again.

138 SkippyMoment  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:15:54pm

Is it too late to nominate Geraldine Ferraro? She is on Hannity and Colmes now saying the Swift ads were fundamentally untrue, and that Kerry was viciously attack with a bunch of lies, and Bush was given a pass... that woman deserves a nomination!

139 Wicksy  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:16:49pm

#123 splutnik
"Sorryeverybody.com"

LOL... good call!

140 Powderfinger  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:17:08pm

zulubaby, I think having Kofi and the UN on the ballot last year split the vote. I went with the UN as a whole. But Kofi has exceeded expectations this year, and I am totally in his camp.

Of course, Ms. Corrie was not undeserving of the Fiskie...or a Darwin award.

141 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:17:28pm

#135 theparson

Aw crud, I thought I was done...

But, umm ... ahem ... yes, ah - to continue:

The one person in the year 2004 CE who simply oozes schtoopidity is indubitably Kofi Annan.

142 quark2  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:17:53pm

I would vote for the arafish (stinking head), but he was truely evil and he's still dead.
So I am considering backing the nomination of Cynthia McKinney, but she's just a small frog in a large schmucky pond.
That leads me to consider then either the Shoemaker from Spain or Dumber than Dumb from the U.N.

143 David_Blue  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:18:19pm

By the way, and completely off topic, when I post, preview something or even look at comments at Little Green Footballs, I get a list of username choices, all the same of course: David_Blue. That list of one repeated name is growing longer and longer. I can't delete the items on the growing list. Does anybody else have this problem, or better yet, a cure for it?

(This is in Mozilla. It goes "Select User Select a username to be entered on this form." According to Form Manager, I have no information on Little Green Footballs to edit. And the problem affects only this site.)

144 rabidfox  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:20:30pm

I'm really torn this year between Rather, Kofi, and the SoSorry people. We yeally do need separate categories!

145 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:20:35pm

Well, because of my great respect for Zulubaby and Thom's compelling arguments I do hereby cast my vote for

Coffi Annon.

146 Powderfinger  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:21:29pm

quark2, IIRC, I nominated the shoemaker.

Vote Kofi.

147 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:22:00pm

#145 theparson

Woo hoo!

148 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:22:09pm

Powderfinger (#140)

zulubaby, I think having Kofi and the UN on the ballot last year split the vote.

LOL, the first thing I did was scroll down the list to see if Charles had split it again but bless him, he hadn't. I think we stand a far better chance this time.

149 LSD  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:22:10pm

Ted Rall is "Douche" of the Year

LOL! Oh, my God. You weren't kidding. Thank you!

"Lenein wanted the rich to be poor by redistribution of wealth." leads by a wide margin!

What a bunch of unreconstructed dolts.

Left= resentment, bitterness, and spite directed towards all who seek to be good, strong, upright, brave, virtuous, thrifty, hardworking, enterprising ect...

151 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:22:39pm

Skippy

You might as well jump on the Coffi train.

152 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:23:01pm

theparson, awesome!

Thom ... changing one mind at a time. Gotta love him.

153 Ward Cleaver  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:23:41pm

I vote for Dan Rather. Although I think Kofi Annan is definitely a second choice.

154 Elcid  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:24:05pm

Ummm, can we have pictures...the Post Office walls, in my town, are barren. Trouble is, each of these individuals are so good at what they do...then again, What do they do?

Ummm, can we vote more then once...like say the do in the King County, State of Washington, or any other leftists bastion?

155 Ward Cleaver  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:25:00pm

Charles, where is the list of prior winners?

Also, how about doing it as a poll, with radio buttons for each of the nominees? Open only to registered lizards, of course.

156 Ft50  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:25:14pm

Mo Dowdie for me--does anybody hate themselves as much?

157 fmfnavydoc  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:25:30pm

1. Dan (Courage) Rather
2. Koffee Cup
3. Michael (Beached whale) Moore

158 Andjam  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:25:47pm

Wow! Australian-born idiotarian makes it big on the international stage!

Pilger deserves to be nominated for his comments that coalition troops are "legitimate targets", and that other terrorist attacks are more or less what should be expected.

Mark Latham probably deserves a dishonourable mention too. Zapatero merely had policies the terrorists preferred, and got into office as a result, and carried out those policies. Latham decided (with no consultation with party members) to introduce a policy of "Troops out of Iraq by Christmas" days after Madrid.

Colleen McCullough deserves a mention for semi-original idiotarianism for saying "It's Polynesian to break your girls in at 12." in criticising the jailing of Pitcairn Islander sex offenders.

159 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:25:49pm

Ward

It doesn't matter, Diebold already has the results!

160 secsailor  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:25:53pm

I know that you can only win it once, but Jimmy Carter continues to out do himself every year. I think he should be the first to get a "Fiskie Lifetime Achievement Award". From his mishandling of the Iran situation in the 70's to his election monitoring this year, he has been consistently defining what it means to be an "Idiotarian" in four separate decades. Who else has such a record?

161 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:25:54pm

Powderfinger:

Jimmah won for screwing the world up. St Pancake won for being breathtakingly stupid. Kofi is both, plus dirty, it seems.

All good points. I hope everyone is paying attention!

Looks like our strongest competition is coming from the Dan Rather camp.

162 Brenda  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:25:59pm

Please consider Norm Mineta. He is idiotarian through and through.

163 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:26:17pm

I would have voted for Annan last year but unfortunately for him he was running against a moron of breathtaking proportions who got herself pancaked defending a weapons smuggling tunnel.

164 Ward Cleaver  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:26:22pm

Charles, how about replacing the Christmas tree at the top of the page with party hats, confetti, and champagne glass.

165 Goddessoftheclassroom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:26:54pm

Dan Rather has my vote. He could have saved himself from the humiliation of looking stupid at so many points of the saga but no, trashing the president (in the middle of a war, less than two months before the election) was more important than his own reputation.

(If the MSM had actually been fair, or barring that, at least balanced [providing both left and right views], can you imagine what the election result would have been? I am still amazed that given the bias, President Bush still won decisively--it gives me hope for our country's future.)

166 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:27:28pm

I mean, how can anyone compete with that?!

167 ted  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:27:41pm

Tough choice between Kofi and Dan, however Kofi will be around 2 more years..See no reason why he wont be nominated next year

I agree that Moore is pure evil and malevolence...i feel that to earn a Fiskie, some degree of idiocy is necessary as well as the ability to take oneself seriously, even when it requires believing biarre delusions... Dans " fake but accurate" explanation with a straight face and Kofis "Kojo disappointment "speech are in the parthenon of lunacy

Dan gets my vote-anyone who broadcasts 40 years of moonbat mental illness earns it

168 Ward Cleaver  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:30:15pm

#162 Brenda

Ooooh, good point! Mineta is definitely an idiotarian.

169 theparson  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:31:55pm

That's easy, Curly, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

If nukes go off during 2005 I'll feel remiss for not mentioning Mohammed "smoke 'em if you got 'em" al-Baradei. Kofi and Mohammed might finally get a nuclear war kick-started. It takes a village of idiots.

181 promoguy  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:38:44pm

I would add as potential nominees both Conyers and Waters. They are going to upset the EC counting on Jan 6th and are the new darlings over at DU. They are being setup to be the new "gutsy" Dems.

But truly when the voting takes place it will no doubt be DU. That vote at leasts bundles quite a bunch of idiots at one time

187 G. Bob  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:42:27pm

Isn't it sad that there are so many choices? Count me in for people voting to split up into catagories.

I would vote for Dan Rather, but his actions were merely boneheaded and stupid. He may have tried to sway the election, but at least he didn't try to buy it outright. Give it Soros. To try so hard for so bad a cause and still lose? Priceless.

Kofi. He can actually stand there with his face hanging out, claiming his lack of knowledge over Oil for Food. Any decent leader or CEO I am aware of sure as heck KNOW where that kind of money is and has gone. To top it off, he let his own son be sacrificed to this altar (no loss in and off himself), but that says alot of Mr. KA.
If the man cannot get behind his own son, (even the critter this guy apparently is) = not even a little bit, how would we expect him to get behind a world. I know I am not putting this all well, but he is a disgusting human. His own people are dying and he has not lifted a finger. Now, is he trying to 'bring the world together' to help with this disaster.
Oops! Too late. He and that so=called UN could have and should have had a whole lot more at the ready for such emergencies anyhow. They have to money - but, I guess it takes some time to get it out of the Swiss bank accounts.
Nope - Kofi it is!

Kofi Annan is clearly the biggest idiot on the list. He does more to harm the US and right thinking globally than any one else on there.

As much as I would like to get soK alone and get him to say "screw them" so I could stomp his ass into the ground, in all reality, he is nothing more than a bothersome flea.

The biggest ommision from the list is the entire democrat party and every person who voted for yrreK. Foulest pack of dumb asses.

211 Paul  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 4:56:54pm

So many worthy candidates! Still, I have to vote Michael Moore, the big tuna himself. I think that "Farhenheit 9/11" backfired and cost the Dems many votes despite all the MSM praise and hype. This Bud's for you Mikey.

Still, I wish we could vote for more than one candidate; we need catagories: i.e. politics, media, Hollywood, academia, etc., to give proper reognition to all the moonbats.

P.S. I'm giving an advance nomination to Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-Saudi Arabia) for the 2005 Fiskie. I think she'll be a frequent (and hilarious) topic of discussion on LGF in the coming year.

Happy New Year to everyone!

212 KeithW  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:01:48pm

Kevin Sites could use an (dis)honorable mention somewhere, but Michael Moore would still be my vote.

Maybe I should break out the shovel and dig up some dead relatives so I can get some extra votes...

213 Taxman  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:02:35pm

Well, if this is packaged by weight and not volume, al-Michael Moore-on is my pick. but if he doesn't win, he should at least get Miss Congeniality.
Any of these F*cks will do, however.

214 joeshouse308  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:03:01pm

I nominate Bashar Al-Assad. I don't want him to win but he certainly is deserving for an honorable mention.

So many worthy candidates! Still, I have to vote Michael Moore, the big tuna himself.

He's Moore of a whale. ;)

216 Patrizio  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:06:09pm

Michael Moore hands down, but Ramsey Clark came in swinging with a powerful last-minute candidacy that will keep the race pretty tight

217 Jakester  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:08:49pm

The DU is too large and anonymous to win. To their credit, a few of them do have some brains. My nomination is Barbara Plett, crying for her Arafish on the Beeb!

218 Tondog  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:12:02pm

I would vote for Fat Mike from the band NOFX, but he isn't on the list. In case you don't know, he started [Link: www.punkvoter.com,...] a website that gave fans of punk rock false and illogical "information" about Bush. Punkvoter also made the popular "Not My President" t-shirts you may have seen some people wearing.

So, since Fat Mike isn't on the list, I'll vote for the other Fat Mike, Michael Moore.

However Markos, sorryeverybody.com, Dan Rather, Howard Dean, and George Soros come in close.

219 Ward Cleaver  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:12:04pm

Also, Bill Camfield in IMDb (Internet Movie Database). Read the bio.

220 jaxinman  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:12:30pm

Again, good candidates, but I have to stick with Dan Rather because unlike Kofi Annan, he won't be around to kick around next year.

.jax

221 Zack  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:13:58pm

Some of the nominees - Gore & Rather for example - evoke pity. Others - Sean Penn rules this category for me - elicit the desire to grab a baseball bat and ... You get the picture.

Since Penn also appears sensitive to criticism, I'd say he's probably going to get my vote. I so want to work this guy over. I know the scruffy fat boy will be hard to pass up, but that's my take.

222 axiom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:14:31pm

It is so hard to not vote for the United Nations, Kofi Annan and Daily Kos, but I think Dan "impeccable sources" Rather is the runaway winner this year.

Fortunaly for Jimmy the Dhimmi the rules abstain him from competing. As we know, he likely would be close to a three-peat this year if it were not for Rachelcakes in 2003.

223 Thom  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:16:35pm

Dan Rather is not going to vanish! He's still going to be on 60 Minutes! And he doesn't even step down from his "news" show until what - March or April?

Who?

231 gunslingah  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:31:22pm

C'mon, Charles, with 35 nominations, Andrew Sullivan should at least get a nod. This guy for years presented himself as a hard-core, anti-terrorist, anti-Idiotarian. Then, when things didn't go his way, Sullivan bailed. Bush's opposition to allowing Sullivan and his boyfriend to traipse down the aisle hand-in-hand was the tipping point. When things got rough in Iraq, it gave Sullivan the intellectual cover for his emotional hissy-fit. If you read his blog at all during the last six months of the election, it's hard to escape the conclusion that A.S. became nothing less than a growling, whining Moonbat. Watching him come up with one tortured rationalization after another as to why Kerry would actually be a better Commander-in-Chief in the war on terrorism was alternately disgusting and hilarious.

For switching sides in the battle against Idiotarianism, for sheerly personal, sexually-motivated reasons, Andrew Sullivan deserves a nod.

232 braindirt  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:31:23pm

Late entry: Sri Lanka for refusing Israeli aid post-tsunami. Probably doesn't qualify based on the evil criterion.

#96 chewydog . . .

Hollywood is in a class by itself, and should have its own catagory. They are just reading script to be liked and invited to the right parties

I agree. I hate to waste a perfectly good Idiotarian Award on Hollywood types. By definition, they're mainly uneducated empty-headed loons who know how to make themselves pretty for the cameras.

The Idiotarian Award should go to someone very special, someone who can do REAL damage. Kerry is an example. Can you imagine this self-serving fool with his hand on the button?

(Apparently this button doesn't really exist, but it makes a good mental image.)

234 gunslingah  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:33:43pm

That said, George Soros should win the actual award. For squandering his money in pursuit of a personal/political vendetta... and losing!

Hey George: Looo-ssserrr!

235 Loflyer  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:33:47pm

Wow! So many choices. In honor of Charles sterling work in unmasking Dan Rather's fraudulent document, and the easy to understand graphics that even the LLL could understand, and influencing the outcome of the ’04 election, I urge all to vote for Dan

236 Promethea  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:34:40pm

#99 David_Blue . . .

Collectively, the EU line is disgusting, but individuals don't stand out, that's the EU way.

Maybe the EU should be on the list. The more I learn about it, the more it seems like a UN with teeth.

Feh. (Yiddish for "barf.")

237 Lawrence Schmerel  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:37:13pm

I vote for Ted Rall because unlike most of the other candidates, he has no talent in any other area except being an idiot. His cartoons suck. He is a complete leftist idealogue. He professes his ideaology with pride and conviction. And he has it nailed down tighter than a post office stamp machine. Sometimes he plays it so straight to the left, I wonder if he isn't faking it.

238 foreign devil  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:37:19pm

So many richly deserving weasels and skunks! In fact, I'm rather fond of both weasels and skunks and it's an insult to lump this rogues' gallery of meddlesome mindf*ckers with weasels and skunks who's never hurt anyone except to protect themselves. These maroons have tried to bring down a democratic president in a time of war. They should all rot in hell!

239 Marine Momma  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:37:43pm

#5, perry, too funny of a post! Kerry can't win squat anymore and I hope the Swiftvets keep him from winning the Senate again.
I voted for John Edwards at first and I think he should be on it. His fluttering eyelashes at Cheney was too much.
But, I will concede already and vote for Dan the man..he was too stupid to pick something stupid enough to get him caught.
GO BLOGS!

Monsieur Creosote? Damn, that fits him to a T, except that Lumpy's not that cultured. Good one.

241 Lawrence Schmerel  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:42:28pm

John F. Kerry should not be the Idiotarian of the year. John F. Kerry lost the election in 2004 and he respectfully conceded. He did the right thing by losing and conceding and I admire him for it. John F. Kerry is just an old senator from Massachusetts. He will never go anywhere else. Let Massachusetts have him.

Yep, one of the few rules is that you can only win once, so Carter is ineligible.

I know he is ineligible, but you really should consider something like a "Lifetime Achievement Award" he certainly deserves it.

:))

248 Lawrence Schmerel  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:50:03pm

Nor can I vote for Dan Rather. He is not really an idiot. He is actually fairly smart. He tried to keep his ideology a secret because he knew it would not sell on main street. He just got caught red-handed trying to slip it under the door. I don't expect to hear much from Dan Rather in the future even if he will continue to be on 60 Minutia.

249 Cog  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:50:35pm

Sean Penn makes a late charge with his support of Michael Moore and the infamous "7 minutes" moonbat screed:

[Link: www.msnbc.msn.com...]

AP: What did you think of Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11”?

Penn: All of that footage — how long was it, seven plus minutes (when Bush sat in the classroom)? ... That’s who George Bush is. I think it speaks very specifically to something that not everybody has. Forget politics, forget Republican, right, left. But it speaks to his unfitness to lead anything.

250 Lawrence Schmerel  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:52:26pm

Oh, wait a minute. We are talking about The Fiskie? That is different from Idiotarian of the Year, is itn't it?

I got to go read the FAQ. I'll be right back.

You're right, Lawrence.

Dan Blather. Hands down.

252 Lawrence Schmerel  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:56:26pm

Okay. I got it.

It is the LGF Robert Fisk Award for Idiotarian of the Year (also referred to as the "Fiskie").

253 Lawrence Schmerel  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:57:47pm

No, msheather. I think you misunderstood me. I am campaigning for Ted Rall.

254 Hankmeister  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:58:02pm

It's Dan Blather, hands down. Is there any doubt?

I vote for Michael Mooron as the blimp to advertise the fact that Blather won!

255 ibu guru  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:59:21pm

Nominations:

John Kerry -- Lifetime Achievement in Idiotarianism -- he's proven year after year that he's a clueless, worthless POS

Duh-rayza -- she certainly deserves to be on the list despite her idiocy being exceeding by some

And I nominate El Presidente Vicente Fox -- as leader of one of the world's wealthiest countries, with more million/billionaires per capita than the US, he has accomplished nothing for his impoverished majority except help them leech off of American taxpayers and remit their (often ill-gotten, more often untaxed) cash into the coffers of Mexican banks. The world's worst whiner, massive idiotarian, champion of the privileged classes, and abuser of America's taxpaying citizens.

My vote? Mike al-Moor is the reincarnation of Goebbels -- pure propagandist for hatred and evil. "Idiotarian" doesn't begin to describe him, so I suggest another award and put him up against Osama bin Laden and his ilk. More appropriate company in which to rank-order him.

I'd have to rank Co-fee ahead of even Rather for Idiotarian. Cynthia McKinney has to be in the top 10, along with Vicente Fox, Duh-rayzah, Rather.

256 Hankmeister  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 5:59:58pm

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL!

I'll vote for Dan Rather if you nominate JACK STRAW! C'mon... he's the very definition of Fisk! And he's British! And he deserves it!

I just wanna see him on the list... is it too much to ask?

258 gunslingah  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 6:00:45pm

I agree with so many posters that their definitely should be some sort of Fisk Lifetime Achievement Award, or some type of Emeritus status. Jimmy Carter would definitely be a wonderful "Fisk Award Emeritus" recipient.

Well hello there sports fans! At least I am under the impression that this is a sports blog because, after all, it's green footballs, right? Hee! I asked where the name came from and she said it was classified.

Carolina girl is in the other room licking the wounds that she received during last night's Cal Bazerkley loss in the highly coveted "Holiday Bowl"... we had a few beers in anticipation of tonioght's celebration of another completion of one revolution of planet earth around the celestial body known as "the sun"... it has seemed to help.

Since the election time politics have slowed considerably and I don't have anything prudent to say, I will finish by wishing all of you all a great, healthy and prosperous new year and that I think you all kick (can I say butt?) Butt.

PS... there is word that blogs are being nomonated for person of the year. Way to go Charles...

In fact, he is one of the most knowledgeable and witty baseball commentators in the business. But on Countdown, he has me gnashing my teeth and throwing shoes at the TV set. 283 Gringo  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 7:11:24pm

Fatf**k Moore deserves the "flatulence of the year award," but other than that the only thing he deserves is be ignored.

Asshat "reporting for duty" Kerry is too much of a loser to be voted for anything.

Rather is just desperate for the Glory Years and will do anything to get the feeling back. He isn't anti-US or pro-terrorism, he isn't politically or morally anything. He's after any press that will get him in the spotlight again. But he's still despicable, so he goes for second.

Definitely, Coughing Anus: idiot, crook, terrorist- sympathizer/supporter, jew hating, US hating, lying, in short...turd droppings.

Definitely the Anus

284 2X4 wielder  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 7:15:24pm

285 Gringo  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 7:17:25pm

I agree that Nick Berg's dad has made a very late charge toward the lead. When Islamist terrorist scumbag murderers kidnap and brutally behead your own offspring... and you find a way to blame Bush... that is a very strong "I am an Idiotarian" statement.

288 Jewels (AKA Julian)  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 7:27:16pm

Gotta Go with Gunga Dan Rather on this one. The man is such a schmuck.

289 Totally Berserk  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 7:31:29pm

As was said earlier, too many idiots, only one vote.

I'm torn between Ted Rall and SorryEverybody.com. Rall for the ugly, psychotic deep anger, and SorryEverybody.com for the pie-eyed cluelessness -- charming, almost cute, how infinitely naive they are. Opposite and symmetrically idiotic. How odd.

So it's a tough call. As a new follower of the lizardoid clan, I will defer to the experts here.

290 Victor  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 7:45:00pm

I was leaning Moore, earlier this month, in recognition of his miasmic rise to the top of the moonbat stewpot (when the pot boils, scum rises to the surface). Then read a couple of posters here who argued, persuasively, that the Fiskie is rightfully bestowed upon a moonbat who is also an inadvertant buffoon -- earnest, but shooting themselves in the foot out of sheer cluelessness. Inspector Clouseau. Fisk had it. Saint Rachel had it. Jimmah's got it. Moore, they argued, was more of a charlatan milking the moonbats for all they're worth -- a bunko man. While I'm not so sure of that, clearly Dan Rather is the current, undisputed, world champion of clueless foot-shooting. Bar none.
So this year's winner of the dreaded Fiskie is... Dan Rather!

I nominate Dan rather,

...The Vatican---
The Presbyterian Church---
The Episcopalian Church---
The Methodists---
...and the Lutheran Churches ---

in the aforementioned order---

For their short-sighted anti-Israel, pro- Pali stance and their embracing and adoption of the interfaithist agenda, in favor of the paths of least resistance...well away from the true tenets of Christianity...

I still think Theo Van Gogh also should be nominated, because despite having been shown the true nature of Islam,...He thought he was above the possibility of attack, due to his celebrity status.
He allowed his ego to blind him to the truth, and recklessly expose himself to danger
Sadly, He did not understand his "dhimmi status" in what was a free democratic country---

Sorry about any errors in the aforementioned statements, but I'm a bit tipsy... don't think I'll make it to midnight

293 Lawrence Schmerel  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 7:52:05pm

295 AddictedLIzardoid  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 7:56:09pm

Hmm. Ted Rall is a good choice, for his usual quality of absolute decadence, but especially this year for desecrating, denigrating, denying, and other negative "de-" words Pat Tillman's sacrifice.

However, I would agree that Dan Rather's moves were more harmful to the country as a whole.

301 fluke_boy  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 8:31:02pm

Aw, not poor Baghdad Bob! Nobody but nobody was as funny as he. Remember the news conference when he said the Americans had been driven out? And the reporter told him an American tank was a block away and that the shots he was hearing in the next block were American soldiers? I love Baghdad Bob. If he had a blog I'd bookmark it in my Great Comedians folder.

May I just say that Sex & the City is the best show ever! Is NY really like that? If it is... Im moving there as soon as I've finished uni! :)

"We stay with friends in Bromley"
My Dad is from Bexley Heath, a few miles from Bromley!

The tram... Croydon is one of the only places left in the country with a tram! In fact they had it specially resurrected a few years ago!

"I can hear the south east accent here!"
Where? In NY?

"Arsenal, sorry!"
GAH!

"I told him he was safe in NY."
Nowhere is safe from Man U supporters!
Tell him... 98% have never been to Old Trafford! ;)

"My maternal grandfather zt'l was an East Ender. Sadly, he died before I was born."
Shame. They're very interesting people. All my Grandparents died before I was born, except my NANA (that's what I called her!). She was born & bred in Croydon.

"I just realized it it 6:09 AM there..."
Yea well its New Years and Guinness rules!

"Happy New Year, anyhow! "
You too Nana! :) Have a good one!

305 fsjeffrey  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 8:50:03pm

I nominate Ted Koppel and Bill Moyers as additions to your list.

Re rall?

This one pushes him up to first or second, the evil POS. I would love to see what he would have done. Someone ought to check the various charities for Southeast Asian relief. Bet he didn't give one ¢.

309 gromster  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 9:16:39pm

Honorary mention should go to Madonna, as in Madonna Louise Ciccione Ritchie, the pop singer. I already can't stand her, but then she had to invite Michael Moore to one of her concert stops this past year --

-- and she had to pretend to care about Middle East conflict by singing John Lennon's 'Imagine' while showing images of kids from the Middle East behind her on a screen.

310 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 9:19:17pm

Can't stand Madonna. A bigger phony never lived. And now she has an affected British accent to boot. Further, I wish she'd convert to Islam already and leave the Jews and the Kabbalah out of it.

311 zulubaby  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 9:20:20pm

And her music sux.

312 Janux  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 9:21:29pm

After what he said about Reagan, I've got to vote for Ted Rall. If he wasn't on the list it'd be hard to choose between Keith Olbermann and that turd Chris Matthews. (Dan Rather and Moore have been ripped apart well enough by the blogosphere and I absolutely despise those three men. Moore and Rather just annoy me.)

313 toddhisattva  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 9:48:10pm

Okay the American champagne has worn off, I can make a sober decision:

I vote for Dan Rather.

Nobody but the terminally clueless can ever argue "there is no left-wing bias in the media" again.

This alone will add years to my life, not having to remember three hundred and twelve specific examples of bias.

Bang! Everything I've been saying for years about CBS, 60 Minutes, The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Ivory Tower Aintellectuals -- confirmed.

On a larger scale, Dan Rather's humiliation heralds the Death of Old Media.

I hope it heralds the death of old leftist groupthink (since leftists haven't had any new ideas since 1917) worldwide. Call me a dreamer.

Even the Oil-for-Food scandal is smaller than The Big Lies perpetrated by the media for a century.

Indeed: wasn't Oil-for-Food media-driven? "The sanctions are killing babies," whined the press.

I see Dan Rather's humiliation as the first definitive event in the collapse of the Old Left. Call me a dreamer.

314 Bubble Girl  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 10:03:30pm

Oh man, definently Madonna, she's been nothing but bad news from way back when, bad music, slutty behavior, and now she writes little children's books...She is the mother of Britney Spears and Christine Aquillera, the Mousekateers who grew up to be even younger sluttier sluts...What's next 8 yr old little Britney's prancing around in videos?

Rosie and Scotch...You live in King County? Oh, Lord! And you admit it?

"Yes, we've counted all the votes for the fourth or fifth or something time...oh,wait...here's some more and they're pro-democratic, count them too!"

You sure King County isn't in the Ukraine? Should be, elections are run about the same.
I used to live there, left, ain't going back. Boston has nothing on Seattle except Bostonians are pure liberal, Seattlites are just clueless. And then there's Bellevue and Mercer Island...won't even talk about them...

318 Scotch  Fri, Dec 31, 2004 11:04:23pm

Washington though.

Clueless bats? Yeah. Bad.

319 odin  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 12:13:34am

Moore is just an evil, arrogant, opportunistic and greedy idiot, but not necessarily an idiotarian.

Rather is IMO the Idiotarian of the Year. He might even win the lifetime award.

320 HA  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 12:48:08am

zulubaby,

I'm voting for Kofi, but you can still bribe me! I take cash or massage!

321 Raistlan  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 1:12:13am

I can be bought.

Unfortunately for many of you, I was bought last year by Zulubaby, so I'm voting for Kofi again. [It's a good thing Jimmah's inelligible, or he'd take it every year.] I'm also hoping that the Moore takes second again...

BTW, Zulubaby, I live in Bellevue, King County, Ukraine[*], so I think we can "find" enough votes to get our man in. ;)

Ironically, while I was perusing last year's final voting thread, I saw that Stefan Sharkansky, who has been doing a great job blogging about our horribly botched Gubernatorial election at http://www.soundpolitics.com, commented in that thread. It's a small blogging world...

[*] My apologies to the people of Ukraine, who stood up for their rights, for comparing them to King County.

322 LagunaDave  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 2:01:28am

sorryeverybody.com is the living embodiment of idiotarianism in the world today. It will be a travesty if they don't get what they've collectively worked so hard to earn.

There are now over 30,000 people who have boldly decide to proclaim to the world (literally): "Hey, look at me - I'm an idiot!"

Now they are talking about publishing books (plural) with their pathetic photos in them.

I'm sorry (no pun intended), but Dan Rather and Michael Moore are calculating liars, and they know perfectly well what they're doing. They are not idiotarians, however deserving of derision they may be.

If somebody were to ask me what an idiotarian is, I would show them 30K examples at sorryeverybody.com. If that flatulent, sanctimonious communal exercise in America-hating self-parody isn't enough to win a Fiskie, then I don't know what would be.

The choice is clear. If sorryeverybody.com doesn't win, I may have to post my own photo on a website somewhere, apologizing to them.

323 Fenway_Nation  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 2:06:50am

I don't think the Beached Whale from Flint, Al-Jazeera and Ted Rall should be included in the Idiotarian of the Year race. Personally, I think their actions are motivated more by pure opportunism, greed and malice as opposed to idiocy.

Since Susan Sontag is deader than a doornail, I nominate Navy deserter and all-around Blue Falcon Pablo Paredes...

324 rw  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 2:08:26am

Since previous winners are ineligible and some of the lizardoid masses want multiple categories, why not recognize in perpetuity previous Fiskie winners by naming lesser awards for them?

The 2004 LGF Rachael Corrie Award for Ex-Idiotarian of the Year could “honor” those who have hopped the twig, shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible in the past year. Every car swarm brings a new candidate to the race.

The 2004 LGF Jimmy Carter Award for Assorted Nuts of the Year could be awarded exclusively to groups or organizations. SorryEverybody.com, Democratic Underground, The Dixie Chicks and The Guardian could be pulled from the list of 35 nominees. Others groups could be added to create a more interesting pool of candidates. Just think, Moveon.org could actually win an election for once.

325 ajaxlikid  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 2:20:45am

Hi everyone & happy new year from France!

Yesterday evening, I watched Chirac adressing his wishes to the nation.
Even in this moment of solenity, he found the way to despise the US.

France will press for Europe and the United Nations to speed up efficient early warning facilities "and organise a true humanitarian rapid reaction force under the control of the UN (sic) as we have been able to do for peace with the (UN) blue helmets. (sicK)"

Anyone has an example of UN's rapidity to bring peace?
Nobody?
Ok, what about an example of UN's ability to bring peace?
Come on lizardoids, don't be shy!

...

Idiotarians and terrorists are alike. None of them observe any truce.

Vote for Jacques!

326 Omega  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 2:22:02am

I admit, I'm at an impass... SO many choices, and so many so good... what to do... ?

Perhaps by the end of this bowl of Ramen, I shall reach a decision...

327 One_Shot_One_Kill  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 3:16:36am

Rather and Moore are too egotistical to place any ideology above that of their own shameless self-promotion. Kofi Annan is merely incompetent.

If this is the accepted definition:

"... the species of delusion within the moral community of mankind that gives aid and comfort to terrorists and tyrants operating outside it."

...then I have to go with Ramsey Clarke (but would gladly donate to any cause funding the purchase and delivery of approriately-scaled Caterpillar bulldozers to all those whack jobs at sorryeverybody.com.--as kind of a dishonorable mention thingy).

328 scaramouche  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 3:33:13am

Kofi, Kofi, he's the man...I already awarded him a "Scaramouchie" (my version of the Fiskies). He won the "Two out of Three Monkies Award" for seeing no evil and hearing no evil.

329 Lawrence Schmerel  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 3:55:45am

Ted Rall is sort of in the media business. His cartoons suck. He is completely clueless. He is deranged. He is perfect.

Dan Rather is tragic. He is a cheap empty suit. He is fading like a bad memory. He is in denial, but he has a clue lodged in his esophagus. He is either going to bark it up, or it is going to kill him. Give him the Heimlich Maneuver, not the Fiskie!

330 itellu3times  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 4:40:59am

I'll vote for Soros, as soon as this seven figure check clears.

Else, Ted Rall.

And can we give Ms. Sontag an award as Mis-Congeniality 2004?

331 sonofsheldon  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 4:50:39am

Gotta go with Kofi. It was a tough choice, but with the level of responsibility he has vs his accomplishments: oil-for-food scandal, peace-keeper rape, encouraging world-wide anti-semitism, and a general cluelessness about his own evil/incompetence, he's got my vote.

332 By the Numbers  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 4:55:04am

Happy New Year all!

[new lizardoid, bows in the direction of wiser and more experienced lizards in the room]

uhhhm [clears throat]

I respectfully submit the following list for your consideration:

Idiotarian of the Year - Kofi Anan, because he actually, truly, really believes that blue helmet tripe that he preaches with an air of moral superiority.

MSM Journalist of the Year - Dan Rather, for breaking new intellectual ground by advancing the novel cocept of "fake but accurate". That he was able to explain this concept on national television, on prime time and still keep a straight face... priceless!

Don't Let the Intellectually Challenged Play Around Heavy Equipment Award - Rachel Corrie

International Comedian of the Year - Baghdad Bob who demonstrated the penultimate ability to deliver a punch line with a straight face... "US Tanks? What Tanks? There are no US Tanks! [Bob can now be booked for your holiday, corporate or social event. Visa and Mastercard now accepted]

Weekend at Bernie's Award - Yassir Arafat

333 Right Brain  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 5:13:11am

Decisions, decisions. Awarding most of these people the Idiotarian Award would be like issuing as award for pretentious Bible quoting and then awarding it to the Bible. Most of this list consists of people who are the benchmark by which we judge the award.

However one stands out this year as the worst, a man who was given every benefit of Western Civilization, and then turned his back upon it and seeks its end, that man is Ramsey Clarke, a mind-numbing misanthrope who prefers the company of those who murder on instinct, torture for amusement, and exist in a pre-Magna Carta world of tribes and darkness. This is a bitter and sick individual who should be held up as an example of that which we will continue to fight against with the enlightenment of clear thought.

Happy New Year everyone.

334 By the Numbers  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 5:16:00am

The Rancid Foie Gras Award - Jacques Chirac

Boss We'd Like to Fire Award - Bruce Springsteen

Slutty, Past Their Prime Celebrity Seeking Spiritual Experience to Give Their Empty Life Some Meaning Award - Madonna [Was she ever 'like a virgin'?]

2004 Most Useable Tool of Despots and Dictators - Sean Penn. Lifetime Achievement Awards to both Jimmy Carter and Ramsey Clark

The Scream Award - Howard Dean. Honorary mention to Pablo Picasso.

Another good reason to vote for Kofi: his venal spawn, Kojo. It's like a two-fer.

337 Vulgorilla  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 5:52:02am

They are all so deserving. How about a special 'Fiskie' group award so that all of them can share in the slime light.

338 scaramouche  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 5:53:44am

I would add one more name to the list: Marion Boyd. She's the former attorney-general of Ontario who recommended Muslim tribunals be allowed to arbitrate family and other civil disputes between Muslims in the province. She insisted that this could in no way be considered sharia because it would be voluntary (yeah, right) and sharia refers to the whole package of Muslim law and not just family ones. Way to go, Marion, for doing your bit to bring sharia to North America.

339 stendec  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 6:03:02am

I nominate Linda "I dedicate this song to Michael Moore" Ronstadt

340 lah-dee-dah-dah  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 6:11:58am

Charles, Your picks of Druther & Moored Blimp, will most likely be the top 2 vote-getters for the Fiskie; but mainly due to their high (and, in Mik-al's case) wide profiles.

However, in an effort to preserve the integrity of the Fiskie; I shall here present my reasons for urging voters to make their choice between the two most truly idiotic candidates: Leen-duh von Ronschtup or the Dicksy Chuckleheads.

To me, it's as clear as Absolut. Pure idiocy in it's truest form, e.g. lowest common denominator, that is, idiocy in toto, is best? exemplified by Linda von Runschtup; and her back-up group undoubtedly should be the (their really not FROM) Dixie Chix' very own Natalie Mayne, specifically.

Definition: idiocy: 1) A condition of subnormal intellectual development or ability, characterized by intelligence in the lowest measurable range. 2) Extreme folly or stupidity. 3) A foolish or stupid utterance or deed. Source: The American Heritage Dictionary Of The English Language, New College Edition.

Ponderous explanation is unneccessary.

Druther and Moored Blimp were nominated for purveying calculated, evil prapaganda, which simply failed to accomplish their common intended goal of torpedoing the candidacy of Pres. Bush.

As unpleasant as it may be to admit; there was a certain degree of intelligence, albeit with misguided evil intent--but a degree of intelligence nonetheless. Also, Moored Blimp swindled the movie-going public into actually paying million$ to watch his propaganda! An evil political trick? A resounding YES. Idiotic? Sadly, no.

Ronschtup and Mayne-brainless simply blurted idiocy. If there was any planning or calculation involved--why then they're even STUPIDER than I can comprehend. Big career-boosters for both, as well.

In a close race in a perfect election; Ronschtup wins by 5 points for repeating her idiocy, and she was roundly booed off the stage--THEN DISSED HER FORMER FANS IN THE PRESS! 'Nuff said.

341 By the Numbers  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 6:17:54am

"Can You Hear Me Now?" Award - Susan Sontag

342 Patrizio  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 6:18:11am

Dan Rather was a one-timer; Michael Moore has a much richer resumé to brag about, from the very beginning of the year. His peak was Fahrenheit, but both before and after that he has provided good material.

343 fawcettt  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 6:19:50am

Dan Rather gets it--

Michael Moore was a self aggrandizing divinity school dropout when I knew him at the Flint Voice--even as a high school sophomore, it didn't take me long to figure out that this guy was a manipulative creep. Sheesh.

HAPPY NOO YEAR!

344 Grandma  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 6:25:29am

346 Jack is Back!  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 6:29:22am

The Daily Telegraph in London calls them "Useful Idiots". Our enemies have relied on this ilk since time immemorial. Dan Rather doesn't fit the definition but Moore does. But the most qualified using the ESR definition are in order of my personal preference:

1. The French, Germans, Belgiums and Irish (who collectively practice the especially progressive European society art of denial)
2. The Guardian, BBC, NY Times and other professed partisan and liberal media who give moral support to the ideas advanced by the countries in number 1 above.
3. Such naive and plainly stupid individuals as Polly Toynbee, Ted Rall, Bob Herbert, Frank Rich, Paul Krugman, Maureen Dowd and Tom Shales who haven't seen, heard or felt any compassion for what America and its traditional values stand for.
4. People who write letters to the editor thinking that their opinion is earth shattering and will show how intellectual they are when in fact they are just narcisstic toads looking to see how chic-chic they can be in front of the more stupid of us all that actually read their idiotarian prose.

But I vote for number 1 - winner take all.

347 Clio  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 6:37:26am

On the theory that the winner should have power to do real harm through his/her/its idiotarianism . . .

And that the winner should be not merely annoying or repulsive but actually dangerous . . .

And that the idiotarianism should not be a single act but a long string of uniformly idiotarian acts . . .

KOFI ANNAN

348 SunCat  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 7:18:12am

Democratic Underground deserves a lot but Dan Rather pretends to be legitimate. He risked his career to spin his way out of his tricks. Dan Rather, fool, fiskie.

351 William  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 7:56:43am

In the initial thread there were nominations for the following, which should be a lock for an easy win:

The "Mainstream" Media

The "mainstream" media have been burned so many times in the last year by blogs and others, that singling out just one or two "reporters" would not do justice to their disgraceful behavior on the whole.

That's my nomination.  :-)

As odious as the entertainment world is (at least most of it is anyway) we should not waste a Fiskie on any has-been, overrated, rock star or actor, they are just too unimportant in the scheme of things.

I just read the entire thread. Your powers of persuasion are quite impressive. However I am still sticking by Dan Rather and his "fake but accurate" memo with his outrageous attempt to hijack this election. Kofi Annan would just be replaced by another third world lackey of the RoPMA.

372 Joel  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 11:51:44am

Other nominees: Pat Buchanan, The Wonkette, Madeline Albright, the Haaretz trio of Amira Hass, Gideon Levey, and Akiva Eldar, David Brock, Arianna Huffington, the dynamic duo of failed diplomats Brent Scowcroft and Zbigniew Brezinzski

While Moore is an idiot to a degree, because he is convinced that Marxist revolution is the way to go, he is very intelligent, and a master of propaganda. He has made a lot of money bashing the US and the capitalist system.

I think last years winner St. Corrie du Jemima was a near perfect Idiotarian. Jimmy Carter is a perfect example, and should win the lifetime special Fiskie. Note, Jimmuh isn't exactly stupid (he once operated Navy nuclear reactors, and as a rule, Navy nuclear operators are highly intelligent) but he was and is still an idiot, although he is getting to be a bitter idiot in his old age.

Dan Rather is a good choice. Clare Short is a good choice.

I'm not sure Wonkette is deserving, as I suspect she is more an opportunist than a devoted idiot. The collective DU/Indymedia?Kos-sacks, however, wouldn't be a bad choice.

Like previous posters on this thread, I too am disillusioned with Andrew Sullivan. A.S. was totally pathetic in his rationale for why JF Kerry would fight the war smarter then George Bush. It would have laughable had it not been so pathetic. At least 50% of his blog is now devoted to gay marrigae and perceived wrongs done to homosexuals - he truly has become Andy One Note.

Another fellow not as well known is Charley Reese who used to be a conservative but has allowed his Israel dementia to get in his way - he too endorsed Kerry.

As disgusting as Ted Rall is, he is not an idioatrain in the classic Carteresque mode. He is an admitted Marxist and his obnoxiousness is in keeping with Communist political thought.

379 TempestMan  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 12:07:52pm

Kofi Annan will get my vote again this year...I was solidly "behind" him last year (for this award:)), but I think he may have outdone himself in the idiocy category for this year. There are just so many instances where his corruption, ignorance, arrogance, hypocrisy, and shear incompetence have come "shining" through (Sudan, Iraq, Israel-Arab conflict, Tsunami disaster, Oil-for-Palaces, defining terrorism...the list is frightening, truly!)

Hard to believe, but the facts speak for themselves...

As much as I detest MM, he is so clearly fully aware of what he is doing (he's in it for the money and fame, folks, and nothing else) that this award is not appropriate, IMHO.

Whenever I see KA in the news or on TV, my blood pressure reaches yet another crescendo...

380 Joel  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 12:11:41pm

Just a few more nominees (for our British brethern RC neo Jew, Johninlondon, Donna V., Dave the, Geepers, and others) -the current "Let's all become good little dhimminis" Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Douglas Williams, also Harold Pinter and John le Carre.

381 2Slick  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 12:39:53pm

I was considering a write-in vote for "Anyone Who Voted for John Kerry" but I figured that might be kind of harsh. Especially since my own brother is among that sad group.

Gotta be Ted Rall. What an absolute waste of sperm that guy is.

382 hank29  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 1:06:54pm

Defenitely Kofi Annan. As more and more of his corruption, anti-semitism/Americanism, stupidity, idiocy, lunacy is revealed, he seems to me the more worthy candidate of this award.

383 Hawaiian cocoNUT  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 1:25:22pm

Kofi kup Onan is the biggest shameless slum-landlord who is supported by the reps of corrupted dangerous dictatorships and financed by the US. He and his ilk have already given us enough reasons to demand that the UN has to be reformed or we are out of it. Short of doing that, the Bush Admin. and the US Congress are part of the problem/s and... should definitely earn this award next year to boot.

384 centaur  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 1:43:53pm

Sorry to be late to this dance, but has nobody yet nominated Howard Stern?

385 Ed from Ohio  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 2:04:07pm

Anyone on this list is very worthy. It will take some thought for me to pick just one

386 timdiener  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 2:16:59pm

James Zogby deserves to be on the list. I hearby nominate him.

387 big L  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 2:25:40pm

I am kindo tending to Lawrence O'Donnell. He came unglued and screamed "liar, liar, liar" over John O'neill.

LMAO! It's a wonder these people remember to breathe.

ROFLMAO!

I pick sorryeverybody.com - that bunch is too stupid to live.

Second place Jimmah Carter. Being seen sitting with Moore at the Dem Convention must have cost the Dems at least 1 million votes.

389 dougrhon  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 4:07:34pm

I urge fellow LGfers to keep one thing in mind. The Fiskie is supposed to be for "useful idiots." People who seem to be well meaning but are actually fools. That is the definition of "idiotarian." It is not meant for true enemies of America. I would not think Osama Bin Laden would be eligible. Nor Jacque Chirac. Michael Moore is questionable since he is a knowing liar and propagandist who seeks to undermine America. I'm not sure Rachel Corrie was really an appropriate choice for this reason as well. Bruce Springsteen, whether deserving of the award or not, is certainly of the right type as is Linda Ronstadt and most of the other Hollywood shmucks. In the media field I would agree with Rather or E.J. Dionne or Thomas Friedman. I do not quibble over which nominee wins. I am just interested in seeing that only actual idiotarians and not the evil are nominated.

Rachel Corrie Is the 'definition' of a "useful idiot"---

Totally OT: Small world! My friend, and her family, lived in Croydon and Bexley Heath. Her husband is from Beckenham. Re the trams? My husband is a transport buff, and he loves the trams and Docklands Light RR, and we went to York once, so that he could go see the National Railway Museum! London Transport Museum, in Covent Gardens must know him by name! :)

Re NY and 'Sex in the City'? It is not reality TV! :) By all means come over to see NYC after uni...just don't expect to see the same characters you saw on TV! It is now one of the safest big cities on the planet, BTW.

I have English family on 3 of my 4 family trees, and remember Bromley before the Glades were built. I miss all the shops that were put out of business. The High Street was the best..

Nearly all of the Brits in the family emigrated here, before I was born.

I saw the East End on my first visit to London, in 1986. It was a very emotional moment to walk in Petticoat Lane, on what must be the original cobbles that were there in the early 20th century and before, that my ancestors trod.

The block where my great grandaprents lived was blitzed, sadly, and I have never in all these years, been able to locate any relatives. This article explains it all re what the East End I was told about by family was. Now? Blooms in Golders Green is just not the same as the real one.

My Mum zt'l was called Nana by our kids, and now I am proud to take on the name.

I was teasing you, as the accent in South East was a bit hard to get used to on my first trip, but now? No problem. York will always require subtitles, and after seeing blood pudding and sausages, I still shudder.

My nominee, and I know it will be unpopular, is George Bush.

All the nominees listed so far are without a doubt utter scumbags. Some should be shot outright, some put in jail for a very long time and the rest ignored. But they are just dung beetles compared to Bush.

Bush's primary fault is that he will not conduct this war with the force necessary to win it decisively.

A good example of his wimpishness: In December the Iraqi Defense Minister and an American general on seperate occassions comlained about the infiltration of terrorists from Iran and Syria who are trying to wreck the upcoming election. Between the lines they were pleading with Bush to do something about it. Bush's response: "it would not be in their best interest to interfer in Iraqi affairs".

With George Bush, what you see is what you get. When he set deadlines for Saddam you knew he was serious. With his mealy-mouthed reply to the Iraqi Defense Minister Bush was essentially saying "Drop dead".

Bush's other sins of omission and comission:

1. He values the lives of Iraqis above the lives of American soldiers. American bases are mortared with impunity because the soldiers and Marines are not allowed to return fire as civilians may be killed. The Fallujah mess is also a prime example of this.

2. He will not stop the infiltration of terrorists from Iran and Syria as mentioned above. A massive B-52 carpet bombing raid in eastern Syria would send a powerful message to the terror masters in Damascus and Tehran.

3. When is the last time you heard the term "axis of evil" coming from Bush? It must have been at least two years ago. This is hardly suprising because he appears to be resigned to Iran developing nuclear weapons. His reliance on the European appeasers hardly has the mullahs quaking in their boots.

4. His willingness to accept one of those pestiferous "Islamic republics" in Iraq if one is voted in. Earth to Bush, there is no right to vote yourself and your country into slavery Communist, Islamist or otherwise. Bush might as well hand the keys to Iraq to the mullahs in Iran right now.

5. However Bush is right when he says that the WOT will take a very long time. At the rate he is fighting, it will take forever, waste tens of thousands of American lives and bankrupt the Treasury.
If he emptied out the bases in Europe, Korea and elswhere and attacked on the Syrian and Iranian fronts he could have this war won before the end of his second term and most likely before the end of the year.

To hell with the forward strategy of freedom how about the forward strategy of conquest?

396 Proud Reagan Republican  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 11:41:37pm

This is my first post here and my vote goes to Kofi as well

by the way I was wondering just how many folks from sorryeverybody.com are right now over at DU arguing over their "Karnsky vs Lenin" poll?

397 Proud Reagan Republican  Sat, Jan 1, 2005 11:48:40pm

First post and of course, being nervous for some silly reason, I spell some Commie's name wrong...sheesh sorry about that, I shall try and remember how to spell next time

Will a massage suffice?

Suffice? Preferred is more like it! We have a deal. Just don't tell Charles. I'm sure he wants a clean vote - unlike the King County Democrats!

Go Kofi!

399 uzi  Sun, Jan 2, 2005 2:20:08am

I would add British Home Secretary David Blunkett for authoring and pushing proposed legislation outlawing criticism of any religion (but we know who they're really talking about) as "hate speech" .

Well, perhaps the war would be conducted with the proper level of ruthlessness if festering liberal pieces of vaginal tissue didn't whine like spoiled brats every time a coalition soldier, Marine, airman or sailor actually killed one of the enemy. I suspect the President realizes what it really takes, but only allows so much to be done because of the political fallout stirred up by various assorted liberal assholes.

Lest I be mistaken for a knee-jerk GWB supporter, I will gleefully give him a great big kick where the sun don't shine for:

--signing the anti-First Amendment piece of shit known as McCain-Feingold (and boy, I would love to kick the shit out of McCain on general principles)

--not giving the Carthage treatment to Fallujah after the four contractors were murdered and mutilated

--doing nothing about illegal immigration

401 aaron's rantblog  Sun, Jan 2, 2005 7:25:59am

Jeanine Garofalo s/b Janeane Garofalo

What would be funny is Rall not even making the semifinalists. The greatest humiliation for him would be to fall off the map and cease receiving attention.

HA, Charles will never know! Done deal.

More in sorrow than anger, I must vote for Keith Olberman. Once upon a time, Dan Patrick and he ran the Best Damn Sports Show, Period (sorry, Fox). To see and hear him descend into Idiotaricy(tm) is truly horrifying.

Come back, Keith. Please.

 Frank says:

In every language, the first word after "Mama!" that every kid learns to say is "Mine!" A system that doesn't allow ownership, that doesn't allow you to say "Mine!" when you grow up, has -- to put it mildly -- a fatal design flaw. From the time Mr. Developing Nation was forced to read "The Little Red Book" in exchange for a blob of rice, till the time he figured out that waiting in line for a loaf of pumpernickel was boring as f*ck, took about three generations. ... Decades of indoctrination, manipulation, censorship and KGB excursions haven't altered this fact: People want a piece of their own little Something-or-Other, and, if they don't get it, have a tendency to initiate counterrevolution.
