In Saudi Arabia, the most corrupt, secretive, and repressive theocracy in the world (now that the Taliban are no more), Bush-hating billionaire George Soros gave a speech about his “Open Society” concept.

JEDDAH, 22 February 2005 — The moderator for the first session on day three of the Jeddah Economic Forum, Prince Amr Al-Faisal, introduced the speaker George Soros as someone who is known for his brave but sometimes controversial words and actions.

Billionaire Soros, chairman of Soros Fund Management, is a successful investment fund manager, and a philanthropist. He recently gained notoriety for being a severe opponent of George W. Bush foreign policy to the extent of campaigning against him getting re-elected while also writing a book about his reasons.

Yesterday Soros touched on these aspects of his career and views but focused mainly on his philosophy and support for the open society principle.

Notice that Soros was introduced by Prince Amr Al-Faisal. Following the Al Qaeda terrorist attack in Yunbu, Saudi Arabia on May 1, 2004, Prince Faisal uttered the following “brave but controversial” words:

It is not hidden from anyone that extremist Zionist elements are engaging in a vulgar campaign against the kingdom by espousing and disseminating lies and incitement against the Saudi government… The terror operations taking place today serve the interests of the extremist Zionist elements, and this means that they [the perpetrators of the operations and the Zionist elements] share common interests.
