 RetweetSheikh Al-Qaradawi: "Grant Me Martyrdom"

Thu, Feb 24, 2005 at 6:32:37 pm PST

The Doha Youth Center in Qatar held a conference on February 17, 2005, to show their solidarity with Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradawi, the Islamist maniac who has tricked many Westerners into describing him as a “moderate” despite his record of support for wife-beating, suicide bombing, and other peaceful pursuits.

One of the most prominent Al-Qaradawi supporters is the Mayor of London, Red Ken Livingstone, and although he couldn’t appear in person due to prior engagements, he did find time to make a film:

During the solidarity conference, a film about Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi was aired, in which London Mayor Ken Livingstone appeared. According to a report on Al-Jazeera TV’s Internet site, Livingstone said: “We were surprised by the onslaught of unbridled distortion of facts in the papers, which described this man as a wild animal and presented him as the jurisprudent of Satan ... We were therefore of the opinion that it is important to conduct a comprehensive inquiry, in which we will consult with the world’s ‘ulema and study Dr. Al-Qaradhawi’s 140 books.

“The results of the report were astounding. It transpired that most of the fabrications that distorted Dr. Al-Qaradhawi’s words come from the institute called ‘The Middle East Media Research Institute,’ which purports to be an objective institute interpreting the words of the Muslim ‘ulema from around the world. However, we have discovered that an ex-officer in the Israeli intelligence, the Mossad, is running this institute and that the institute systematically distorts not only Al-Qaradhawi’s words, but the words of many [other] Muslim ‘ulema as well. In most cases, this distortion is comprehensive, and therefore we printed this document.”

According to the Qatar daily Al-Sharq, Livingstone noted that after special committees had studied Al-Qaradhawi’s ideology by reviewing over 140 books, as well as sermons and lectures by Al-Qaradhawi, it was found that “Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi’s ideology is utterly remote from extremism.”

Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi himself spoke at the solidarity conference, and I think we can all agree that he put to rest any doubts about his “extremism.”

When I was only nine, the people of my village gave me the title ‘sheikh [who teaches] the Koran and religious science.’ I have devoted myself to religious propagation [da’wa] for the sake of Allah, and I have not relinquished the mission that Allah entrusted to me. I see myself as appointed by Allah. I will never withdraw from this mission. I hope my life will end with a virtuous death, like [the death] sought by warriors fighting Jihad for the sake of Allah. I do not defend falsehood or the tyrants ... but I defend and am beneficial to the affairs of my nation. I will not relinquish my mission whatever accusations are leveled at me regarding terrorism or other matters.”

The London Arabic-language daily Al-Hayat reported that Al-Qaradhawi said: “I am not afraid of the Mossad or the Americans.” He also said: “The Mossad has threatened to eliminate me, and I hope that Allah will grant me martyrdom [shahada] for His sake and that my life will end by my dying at the hands of the enemies of Islam.” According to the daily, Al-Qaradhawi hoped to die “a virtuous death” and that this meant “that the head would be severed from the body.”

This Persian Gulf “youth center” has also hosted other Arab celebrities:

In their speeches, some of the conference’s participants recalled the fact that the center had previously held a conference in solidarity with Holocaust denier Roger Garaudy. One of the participants, Muhammad Al-Musfir, a political science lecturer at Qatar University, said: “I thank Qatar’s political leadership for [the way] it has treated thinking and sensible men, despite the great onslaught against it. I also thank the youth center in Doha, which respects freethinkers and supports them. Yesterday it was Garaudy, and today it is Al-Qaradhawi, with whom we totally identify.”

Dr. Hayat Al-Hweiek ‘Atiya, who is close to Garaudy and who translated one of his books denying the Holocaust, also participated in the conference. ‘Atiya, the only Christian participant, said: “Muslim civilization is being targeted. As a Christian, I think we are gathering today [to honor] the supreme value that this man represents.”

Iran girl gets 100 lashes for sex

The court dismissed the girl's claim that we was raped. It said she had sex of her own free will, the official Iran Daily newspaper reported

The girl was sentenced to 100 lashes because her accusations of rape and kidnap could have landed her partners a death penalty, the Tehran judge said.

Sex outside marriage is illegal in Iran and capital punishment can be imposed.

The young men in the case were sentenced to 30 and 40 lashes each.

Sick bastards.

Under Iranian law, girls over the age of nine and boys over 16 face the death penalty for crimes such as rape and murder, while capital punishment can be imposed in certain cases of illegal sexual relationships

There's that nine yr old age again.

Well, this a a great idea (thats sarcasm)

NATO chief: We could send troops once treaty is signed

NATO would consider stationing peacekeeping troops here to facilitate the peace process only if an Israeli-Palestinian peace treaty were signed, both sides requested a NATO presence, and the UN Security Council endorsed the request, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said in an interview with Haaretz yesterday.

This is one of those "Thanks, but no Thanks" offers which hopefully will never come to pass.

Speaking of girls being nine:

Leyla Mafi was sentenced (Ed. to death) more than a year ago at a court in Arak after being found guilty of having illegal sex.

A human rights group monitoring the case said Ms Mafi had a mental age of eight, but this has been disputed by Iranian judicial officials.

I wonder if the human rights group didn't insist on the mental age of 8 for a reason, considering what I quoted in #19

The pseudo-leftists are still on the left because they believe in leftish policies of tolerance and social justice at home. They are pseuds because their principles flip as soon as they leave Heathrow. All that the left has opposed since the Enlightenment become acceptable, as long as the obscurantists, theocrats and fascists are anti-Americans and as long as their victims aren't Western liberals.

...For months a rainbow coalition of gays, lesbians, feminists, Sikhs, Hindus, Jews, secularists and democrats who once supported Livingstone have been fighting a more important battle about his support for Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi.
Livingstone can't say he wasn't warned about the Egyptian theologian. Just before he met him in July last year, the papers were filled with the most lurid reports of his views. Apparently he advocated the murder of homosexuals and Israeli civilians and beating-up women. If Livingstone had qualms, they didn't show. He sent the limousine anyway.

When the two men met, the mayor who can't apologise for his own bad manners proved he was big enough to say sorry for the mistakes of others. 'On behalf of the people of London,' he intoned, 'I want to apologise to the sheikh for the outbreak of xenophobia and hysteria in some sections of the tabloid press which demonstrated an underlying ignorance of Islam.'
Er, not in our name, mate, muttered at least some of the people of London who had checked out the reports of the hysterical and xenophobic press. They seemed to have substance. Gay, lesbian and feminist organisations wrote to Livingstone. The letters were ignored, so they turned to Peter Tatchell, who battled away, but didn't get far until January, when the Mayor responded to the complaints with a dossier produced with public funds.

the rest is worth reading.

This is a ray of light through the clouds. This is what Zombie and I and other disgusted Democrats have been saying--how can any so-called liberal support these monsters who defecate all over their so-called principles? And tying our hands so we can't fight them IS SUPPORTING THEM. Doh!

Your points are well taken- under the guise of being politically correct many have let Mulim extremists pose as moderates. I wish the Right would for a moment focus on the religious extremists in the GOP who, if they could have their way, would make gay sex a criminal offense (the Lawrence case), want to take evolution out of textbooks, want to take away ALL of a woman's reproductive rights, want to vastly censor the media (unless it's violence of course), and want to bring down the separation of church and state. These people aren't blowing up people (except the odd abortion clinic or two) but their ideas are quite dangerous and unfortunately millions of them are now considered part of the GOP base.

"On September 18, 1997, businessman and philanthropist Ted Turner announced a generous and historic gift of $1 billion in support of United Nations causes. This gift supports the United Nations in achieving the goals and objectives of the UN Charter, and encourages greater understanding of the promise and purpose of international cooperation through the United Nations.

In making his pledge to support UN causes by creating the UN Foundation, Mr. Turner also strongly encouraged others to engage in a new spirit of philanthropy aimed at creating a better world. And he promised to utilize the UN Foundation to help foster a new spirit of philanthropy throughout the world."

I heard the words "Cut to the chase...I'm not"
I also heard the same thing on Fox News late last night .

101 jwpaine  Thu, Feb 24, 2005 6:06:38pm

Sorry, I was eating dinner and, of course, watching the Apprentice.

On first hearing, I heard him say "I'm not" but my wife heard "on that." And she was adamant about it being "on that." (she finds Churchill as odious as I do).

I then turned up the volume and listened again, and yes, he says "on that." At least, that's what I hear now.

One thing: You can't fault the reporter for quoting him saying "I'm not," although he should have known as incendiary a quote as that would be, to get confirmation.

102 RebTex  Thu, Feb 24, 2005 6:08:53pm

On the Fox run of that passage, you could clearly hear, & read his lips saying," I'm not"

Me too. I thought that when I read the article, even without hearing the tape, something is fishy. The author thought he heard what we have and I think he is right. I think Chutch probably did have a few cocktails too many that night and the truth came out. He has probably BEEN having a few cocktails too many lately because his world is crashing around him (boo frickin' hoo) and it slipped out but it is out there now!

OT -- Gay bishop

Here we go again. The MSM is covering the Anglican's gay bishop controversy as a left/right issue. It's not a liberal/conservative issue. It is a biblical issue and it cannot be covered unless the MSM acknowledges the fact that the bible exists and governs homosexual sex.

Leviticus 18 [22] Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

I used to be a journalist, and I do not understand how this story can be honestly covered without noting the biblical stricture against man-on-man sex. What I do understand is that it would be monstrous breach of PC for the media to quote the bible.

Okay, abominations ain't what they used to be. Gay sex is probably not quite as bad as frying an egg on the sabbath. Its sort of the biblical equivalent of double-parking. But that's not the point.

109 jwpaine  Thu, Feb 24, 2005 6:15:02pm

What convinced me as much as hearing the words was teh long pause afterwards, which to me indicated the end of a sentence. If you hear it as "on that" then he's speaking in fragments, id "cut to the chase... on that...blah blah blah"

On the local NBC affiliate, I don't see it on Google News.

2 Middle Eastern men, one estimated in 50s, one in 20s, at a McDonald's restaurant in Wharton, TX (just south of Houston), upset with poor service, threaten to blow up the McDonalds, and The Pentagon.

I don't think real terrorists would actually reveal their plans to blow up the Pentagon because the Quarter Pounder they ordered with extra pickles and no onions came out with extra onions and no pickles, but one never knows.

Probably unrelated, Antisemitic vandalism up sharply in Houston area. Mostly in the Southwest side of Houston, which has a large Middle Eastern population.

Swastikas also were painted on eight of the large red domes decorating overpasses along the Southwest Freeway, and obscenities aimed at Jewish people were painted on a wall at a Montrose restaurant. Swastikas and slogans such as "Jews Die" were scratched into the doors of Congregation Brith Shalom in Bellaire and Congregation Emanu El.

Sometimes the vandals went to considerable effort. Swastikas were etched into window panes at the Houston Hillel student center and the Houston Congregation for Reform Judaism, actually eating through part of the glass in the former case.

OT.. The French have found a way to bring peace to the Middle East. The answer is to our prayers for peace is ..Tourism!

The dynamism of tourism can help bring peace to the Middle East, World Tourism Organization (WTO) Secretary-General Francesco Frangialli told the third Prime Minister's Conference for Tourism to Israel held in Jerusalem.

"Tourism and peace are inseparable. The forces unleashed by tourism are so powerful that they can change apparently irreversible situations and bring about reconciliation where none was considered possible," said Mr. Frangialli.

Most religious "extremists" on the right don't want to make being gay a criminal offense, only defend traditional marriage; they don't want to remove evolution from textbooks, only give equal time to other possible theories; they don't want to take away all reproductive rights, only protect what they see as life; and they don't want a theocracy, only the ability to acknowledge publicly what our money says publicly: "In God we trust."

Personally, I'm more worried about sky-scrapers getting blown up than about being forced to bow to a cross. (Incase you're slow to catch on, one of those has happened in my lifetime; the other hasn't.)

Notice how none of his sons have gone off to fight and die in the Jihad?

If you are a Jihadi and you want to die, there is no line and no waiting. So it is that young men named Rantisi, Yassin and Qawadari never appear in the casualty lists.

Given that the most honorable death is so glorious, why has this man not demanded his sons lead the charge? Given his certainty of heaven, he should proudly announced all of his sons have reached for the golden ring.

He talks a big game but he is all talk and no Jihad.

Madrid suspect found dead in jail

A suspected Islamic militant accused of belonging to a group that planned attacks in Madrid has been found dead in prison.

Mustapha Zanibar, a Moroccan national, was found hanging from a belt in his cell's shower room by officers at the prison in Zaragoza, northern Spain.

While in prison he invited inmates to celebrate last year's train bombings in Madrid in which 191 people died.

He is said to have converted to radical Islam while serving a murder sentence.

Last November, prominent Spanish judge Baltasar Garzon accused of him belonging to a cell planning attacks on Madrid landmarks - including the National Court, a football stadium and two railway stations.

Nearly 40 people were accused of belonging to the cell, some of them already in prison.

Zanibar was jailed in 1996 for killing a man by setting him on fire.

He had recently been placed in isolation in Zaragoza's Zuera prison because he had become a danger to others, according to Spanish media.

It was while he was in another prison, that Zanibar invited fellow prisoners for a coffee to celebrate the 11 March 2004 Madrid train bombings, according to his prison dossier.

Here's a copy of a letter I submitted to the Times of London:

Dear Sirs:

As an American living outside London I am fascinated by the recent Livingstone gaffe. Isn’t this the same guy who last month defended a man who praised suicide bombers and the death penalty for gays, and when a coalition of groups protested he told them they were being manipulated by the “Zionist media.” Why Ken, why don’t you just reinvigorate the blood libel? Hasn’t he figured out that Europe’s demonization of Israel, including Ken’s comparing Ariel Sharon to a Nazi, has created an upsurge in violence against Jews across Europe and in the UK?

If the Daily Mail could ask, I dare say I must, “How can millions of Londoners be so dumb?” I mean, who votes for this lunatic!

Perhaps Americans should start a letter writing campaign, just as the Guardian did, to get Londoners to do the right thing and change their leadership!

Any takers out there?

Respectfully

'Our Guys Stayed and Fought'

...Adnan is Gen. Adnan Thabit, the leader of the Special Police Commandos. He's a big man, dressed in a black leather jacket, sporting a diamond pinkie ring and a mustache even Saddam Hussein would envy. Barking out orders at his headquarters in a bombed-out Republican Guard barracks in western Baghdad, he looks almost like a Mafia don.

Gen. Adnan, as he's known, commands a force of about 10,000 men. He formed the commandos last summer, when security here was spinning out of control, at the urging of his nephew, the current Iraqi minister of the interior. He has a tough-guy résumé: a former member of Hussein's military intelligence service who was imprisoned in 1996 after he joined a U.S.-backed coup plot. One look at him and you know he is not a man you'd want to antagonize.

His police commandos are drawn from all over the country, and they include a mix of the country's religious and ethnic groups. A majority are probably Shiite Muslims, but Gen. Adnan, a Sunni, looks pained when I ask for an ethnic breakdown. "I don't care who's Shia, who's Sunni. I want only a good soldier who will fight for his country. I don't want anyone to ask that question, Sunni or Shia. We are all officers." ...

They stole the wings from the Air Force, the Anchor from tne Navy, and on the 7th day when God rested, they stormed his basecamp, stole the globe, and have been defending it ever since.

It's the Democrats, and those on the left, getting their knickers in a bunch over Jeff Gannon, that insidious gay escort and alleged Republican mole (and who are making a big deal out of his gayness).

And it's the feminist, tolerant, all-inclusive Left that now supports the woman-hating, gay-hating, democracy-hating Islamofacists, who want to bring the world under Shari'a Law.

Sod off, Swampy!

Sheik buddy, somehow I just don't think the Mossad is the kind of organization that wastes its time threatening people.

Didn't Zarqawi also say he wanted to be martyred with a beheading? I get the sense that these guys are trying to rewrite history a little bit. First, beheading victims was something like slaughtering dogs and pigs. Now, beheading is an honorable way to die. Are they making an attempt to elevate the honor of the terrorists by saying that being beheaded is actually a good thing?

Qaradawi: Islam will rule the world

Similarly, the prominent Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Qatari-based spiritual authority for the worldwide Muslim Brotherhood, issued an Islamic ruling that, despite the pessimism among Muslims, Islam will definitely prevail and eventually become master of the entire world. One of the signs of Islamic victory will be the conquest of the Italian capital, Rome, by the Muslims. Occupying Europe and defeating Christianity will become possible, according to al-Qaradawi, with the spread of Islam inside Europe until it becomes strong enough to take over the whole continent. Al-Qaradawi asserts that "the signs of salvation are absolute, numerous, and as plain as day, incicating that the future belongs to Islam and that Allah's religion will defeat all other religions." He relies on ancient Islamic traditions quoting the Prophet Muhammad, who allegedly argued that the conquest of Constantinople (Istanbul) and then Romia (Rome) are considered signs of the victory of Islam...

" The conquest of Romia [Rome] and the expansion of Islam will reach all the areas where the sun shines and the moon appears [i.e, the entire world].. That will be the result of a planted seed and the beginning of the righteous Caliphate's return ... [The Islamic Caliphate] deserves to lead the nation to the plains of victory." -- Qaradawi, quoted in the article.

... Al-Qaradawi's influence, it should be stressed, is widespread. His religious rulings not only appear on the websites of Muslim Brotherhood subsidiaries, like Hamas, but also on the websites of Saudi-inspired groups fighting the U.S. in western Iraq and on the websites of Chechen Islamists.

Article in Arab View -- Qaradawi: Moderate and Extremist, by Abdul Rahman Al Rashed, former editor-in-chief of Asharq Al-Awsat.

The fact is that in social matters he is considered among the most moderate but in relation to public political affairs he becomes a different mufti and has a well-known track record. Perhaps his links with the Muslim Brotherhood organization made hiim view the world from that narrow window rather than the reality, ability and needs of the Ummah.

What the Saudi minister for Islamic affairs said regarding some of the mosques' preachers applies also to Qaradawi -- that they incite young men to go and fight while they remain in their countries and don't allow their own children to fight. Sheikh Al-Qaradawi, may God forgive him, was one of the most fervent preachers for war and confrontation, yet he continues to live in his air-conditioned house in Qatar.

".. Qaradawi .. was one of the most fervent preachers for war and confrontation, yet he continues to live in his air-conditioned house in Qatar."

I heard Qaraddawi's words in defense of himself in the face of the attack from the London press, denying that he incites people and saying that he holds dialogues and that he is against violence and for peace.
These words spoken in London don't match those in Doha, which can be read on his own website.

In other words, Qaradawi can be recognized as a chameleon, talking peacefully in English to the West, while in Qatar in Arabic he incites people and is one of the most fervent preachers for war and confrontation. A forked-tongue man of taqiya. A liar through and through. And a hypocrite also, who personally chooses the good life and keeps his children away from war but who fervently incites young Muslim men to go to war.
