Jane Fonda finally admits her behavior during the Vietnam War was despicable: Jane Fonda Regrets 1972 Visit to Vietnam Gun Site.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jane Fonda regrets her visit to a North Vietnamese gun site in 1972, the actress and fitness guru said in an interview with CBS television show “60 Minutes” to be aired Sunday.

The actress defended her trip to Vietnam in 1972, which won her the nickname “Hanoi Jane.” But she said her visit to a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun site used to shoot down U.S. pilots was a “betrayal” of the U.S. military.

“The image of Jane Fonda, Barbarella, Henry Fonda’s daughter … sitting on an enemy aircraft gun was a betrayal,” she said, calling the act, “The largest lapse of judgment that I can even imagine.”

But she’s much more unhappy about her menages a trois with French hubby Roger Vadim: Jane Fonda says she procured prostitutes for sex romps with husband.

In the interview to be broadcast Sunday on the CBS network, the actress said she indulged Vadim’s sexual proclivities, despite the personal pain it involved.

“One night Vadim brought another woman into my bed and I went along with it … I’m competitive … I was going to keep up with the Joneses,” Fonda said.

“It was the 60s and whatever,” she said, adding that she was largely motivated by the fear of losing her French director husband if she refused to go along with his three-in-a-bed romps.

“I know one thing: It really hurt me … and it reinforced my feeling I wasn’t good enough,” she said. “I felt that if I said no, that he would leave me and I couldn’t imagine myself without him.” …

Addressing her notorious visit to North Vietnam in 1972 — which earned her the epithet “Hanoi Jane” — Fonda insisted she had no regrets, apart from one moment when she posed with an anti-aircraft battery used to shoot down US pilots. …

She made no excuses, however, for the broadcasts she made at her own request on Radio Hanoi, criticising the US bombing of North Vietnam.

“Our government was lying to us and men were dying because of it, and I felt I had to do anything that I could to expose the lies and help end the war,” she said.
