Cycle of Violence: Clear Spot

Today’s ride: 48 miles, under one of the bluest Southern California skies I’ve seen in a very long time. The weather was absolutely perfect for cycling; a light breeze with a little ocean chill in it kept the sun from getting overpowering. No huge climbs today, but I took the climb out of Malaga Cove on PV Drive at about 22 mph up to the first level-off (on the pedals), then settled into a 12-14 mph spin to the top. Turned at Hawthorne and sat on the wheels of a small group of riders until they couldn’t maintain speed on the rollers out of Lunada Bay. At that point I dropped ’em like a losing argument. (Of course I said, “thanks for the pull,” as they vanished behind me.) The descent back to Malaga Cove was great; no cars, slight tailwind, maximum speed 44 mph. (And just by coincidence, I got some great photos of volleyball babes today. But I’m sure no one at LGF is interested in anything like that.)
