UK police probe Iraq suicide attack, arrest one.
MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) - British police on Tuesday arrested the former house-mate of a 41-year-old French man they suspect of traveling from the UK to Iraq and blowing himself up in a suicide attack on U.S.-led forces.
It was the third European anti-terrorism raid in the past week to target individuals or groups suspected of backing the Iraqi insurgency, following larger operations in Spain and Germany last week.
Police said a 40-year-old man was arrested when about 30 officers staged a dawn raid on a house in the run-down Moss Side district of Manchester, northwest England.
“The action was taken as it was believed that one of the previous residents of the house may have died during an attack on coalition forces in Iraq in February 2005,” said a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman.
