Yahoo Hires Kevin Sites

Kevin Sites, who filmed a Marine shooting a wounded terrorist in a Fallujah mosque, released it immediately without context, and ignited a storm of anti-American rage in the Arab world, has been hired by Yahoo to do what he does best.

Mr. Sites said he hoped that Yahoo users understood that what he was doing was different from the mass of opinion blogs and other Web sites.

“We are a journalistic entity,” he said, “trying to do things in a responsible way you don’t always see on the Internet.” At the same time, he will be trying to avoid what he says he believes is the weakness of network news.

His credo is to be “transparent, vulnerable and empathetic,” he said. “Transparent, in that we tell people what we do and how we will do it. Vulnerable, in that we are human and we know we will make mistakes. And empathetic, in that whether we agree with our sources or not, we will treat them with respect.”

I assume Mr. Sites won’t be covering China for his new bosses.
