From Half a Million to 370
It’s still an open question how many people showed up for the “anti-war” protests in Washington over the weekend. LGF readers who were there have emailed me with widely varying estimates, and there is no official count. (Please pardon me if I don’t automatically accept the word of CODEPINK and International ANSWER that there were “300,000” attendees.)
But today the crowd around Mama Moonbat has shrunk dramatically: Sheehan Arrested Outside White House.
About 370 war demonstrators, including Cindy Sheehan, the grieving California mother of a soldier slain in Iraq, were arrested today in peaceful protest outside the White House.
The protesters planted themselves on the sidewalk outside the White House and refused to move, singing songs and chanting slogans while waiting nearly five hours for police to arrest all of them.
The demonstrators were carted away in Metro buses and police paddy wagons and the fingerprinting and booking was still going on late until the evening at the U.S. Park Police operations facility in Anacostia. Most were arrested for demonstrating without a permit, a misdemeanor that carries a $50 fine and can be paid by mail or can be challenged in court, said U.S. Park Police spokesman Sgt. Scott Fear.
