“Significant Threat” Against NY Subways
NYC Increases Subway Security After Threat.
NEW YORK - Authorities were increasing mass transit security after word of a credible threat of a bombing on the city’s subway system, a congressman said in Washington.
“Obviously, this is a significant threat,” said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.
In New York, a law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity in advance of an official announcement, said the threat is “specific to place, time and method.”
The official said authorities are especially concerned about bags on the subway, and plan to flood New York’s mass transit system with officers.
