Deep Thoughts from THK
In a column for The Forward, Teresa Heinz Kerry writes about The Outrageous Silence of George W. Bush, in response to the Holocaust denial of Iranian “president” Ahmadinejad. (Hat tip: poletowner.)
She’s half right. Ahmadinejad’s open Jew-hatred is repellent, and should have received a more forceful response, not only from the Bush administration, but from the entire civilized world.
But her solution?
The only way to prevent the virus from surviving and spreading is to attack, killing it with the strongest possible condemnations before it has a chance to mutate and spread. In October, Bush missed a chance to do that. Now he has a second chance to speak out. I hope he will take it.
Note: Teresa Heinz’s husband John F. Kerry also had a plan to deal with Iran, involving much more than “strong condemnations.”
If he had been elected President, Kerry would have supplied Iran with nuclear fuel.
