LGF in Danish, Correction

Following up on yesterday’s post about the appearance of LGF in Danish newspapers, I received this email from Karl Erik Nielsen, Washington Bureau Chief of the paper Berlingske Tidende:

Thank you for printing my article on your blog. The story was written Monday and printed in the daily national “Berlingske Tidende” and the Copenhagen tabloid “Urban” Thursday. I check your blog regularly and I’m pleased to see my work on it. But I need to correct my fellow countrymen, Dan and Rune, on a few misunderstandings:
1) I use the word “ophidset” (“stir up” or even better “excitement”) as a way to describe your outrage towards the Islamists and their boycott of Danish products. An outrage that made you come up with this campaign. It is not some sort of subtle criticism of your blog. On the opposite.
2) I lead with a reference to Walt Disney and there is no hidden agenda there. It’s a very straightforward tribute to a man who almost invented cartoons as satire and made it a backbone of freedom of speech. Very relevant these days.
3) Urban does not belong to the extreme left. It is owned by the Berlingske Company, which is known by every living soul in Denmark to be a conservative paper.
My article is very positive towards your campaign and your blog. Take my word for it.
