The Wages of Appeasement

Last month I noted that some of the Danish companies being hurt by the Islamic boycott had signed bargains with the devil—they agreed not to trade with Israel in exchange for having their products sold in Islamic countries.

Hodjas blog notes a report in Jyllands-Posten in which one of the boycotted companies, Danish dairy firm Arla, admits that such agreements are “routine.”

UPDATE at 2/21/06 7:53:08 am:

Arla denies that they are boycotting Israel: DENMARK: Arla maintains links in Middle East. (Hat tip: Cattt.)

Meanwhile, in response to recent media speculation, Arla has confirmed it is not boycotting Israeli exports and will continue to provide milk powder, cheese and butter to the market, with value in the region of DKK200m each year.

In a statement, Arla Foods deputy managing director Andreas Lundby said: “We have never boycotted Israel, and we have never agreed to do so, on the contrary, our trade with Israel is growing.”
