Cycle of Violence: Punishment Components Upgraded

Today’s ride: 54.1 miles. Great cycling weather, not too warm, not too cold, kept wanting to take the arm warmers off but didn’t weather. And the Dura-Ace 10-speed upgrade I installed this week is an incredible difference; those shift levers are amazing, require much less pressure than Ultegra but still respond with a positive click, even when nudging the front derailleur to avoid chain rub. And shifting is flawless on both rear cogs and front chainrings, no sticking, no dead spots in the middle of the rear cogs, just perfect. The Dura-Ace brakes are also much more precise and powerful. OK, I’ll stop raving about it now, but this upgrade was definitely worth the money. We went south for about 27 miles, turned around at Portuguese Bend, and hammered the Palos Verdes rollers like fiends on the way back. The fascist headwinds declared a hudna today, and did not hinder the cycle of violence much.

The worst aspect of 'typical familyism' (as media-merchandised) is that it glorifies involuntary homogenization.
