Jeff may have been the first warblogger to write about flying naked, but this little meme has been floating around in the national subconscious for a while. Reader Louis Nick III emailed to tell us it was mentioned in this newsgroup post on September 12.
A search for “fly naked” on Google yields lots of hits. Ann “Convert ’Em And Kill ’Em” Coulter mentioned it in this November 8 column: HillaryCare For The Airports.
On November 12, John Kass wrote about it in the Chicago Tribune: Let’s get naked and fly the very friendly skies.
Don McArthur pointed out in a comment that loveable TV bigot Archie Bunker suggested it in the 1970s, in an episode of All in the Family; he wanted everyone to fly naked and armed.
But in Zambia, it’s old news; Zambian wizards have been flying naked for centuries, even though they occasionally crash and traumatize the population.
