One of the problems with societies that don’t value logic and the scientific method is that they tend to be unable to distinguish credible information from the ravings of lunatics. Case in point: today the Arab News has an article by Michael Collins Piper trying to deny that the 9/11 hijackers were Arabs. Then who were they? Aw, come on … it’s the Arab News! Who else would they blame?

Evidence to be explored suggests that instead, these hijackers could well have been Israeli-sponsored fundamentalist Jewish fanatics (posing as “Bin Laden Arabs”) hoping to instigate an all-out US war against the Arab world.

Piper is a columnist for The Spotlight, a newspaper published by Liberty Lobby, an extreme right-wing anti-Semitic propaganda group. He has also suggested that Jews killed JFK.

Basically, he’s a hatemongering crackpot conspiracy theorist. Stellar credentials for publication in the Arab News.

Meanwhile, over in Egypt, “science” magazine Al-‘Ilm (put out by publishers of the government-sponsored daily Al-Gumhuriya) published an article in November alleging that Jews are spreading AIDS in Asia and Africa, containing this rather puzzling statement:

“The U.S. took over the state of Ottawa [sic] to conduct experiments there with deadly biological weapons. It is possible that the urge for vengeance will push the U.S. to test its advanced biological weapons on a real enemy, to find out how extensive the effect is.”

It won’t matter how many millions of dollars the Saudis spend on PR campaigns, if the Arab press continues to print such sick, hate-filled rubbish.

 Frank says:

On a personal level, Freaking Out is a process whereby an individual casts off outmoded and restricting standards of thinking, dress, and social etiquette in order to express CREATIVELY his relationship to his immediate environment and the social structure as a whole. -- from the liner notes of Freak Out.
