Another anonymous angry lefty unleashes a torrent of ad hominem attacks, before attempting to prove that because the linguistic foundation of the Arabic word jihad does not contain the literal concept “holy war,” this means there’s no such thing. Apparently, we’ve all been misled by a handful of “extremist nutballs and crazies,” and Islam really is a Religion of Peace™ after all.

Never mind that the likes of Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi use jihad to mean “holy war,” constantly, in every audiotape and every beheading video. Never mind that one of the world’s most notorious terrorist gangs is named Islamic Jihad. Never mind that the world’s most respected Islamic scholars (see: Yusuf al-Qaradawi) at the world’s most respected Islamic schools (see: Al-Azhar University) use jihad explicitly to describe the battle against infidels.

Never mind more than 20,000 LGF posts documenting the appalling scope and cruelty of the global jihad.

The notoriously dilettantish Charles Johnson, of Little Green Footballs fame, has earned the scorn he’s received over the years for fostering one of the most bigoted, hyperbolic sites in the blogosphere and failing to back up his claims against Islam or the Arabic language with any real scholarship. His site and “lizaroid” [sic] community is fueled by a combination of hateful, copy/paste anti-Muslim and anti-Arab drivel, belligerent American/Israeli supremacism, irrational emotionalism, and racist, knee-jerk war mongers who want the American/Israeli boot to be on the necks of every living Muslim on Earth. Just as Democratic Underground is full of hate for the Right, LGF is chock full of hate for the Left, hate for Arabs, hate for Muslims, hate for the French, hate for Democrats, ad nauseum [sic].
