The Greenwald Show: Glenn Leaps to Ray McGovern’s Defense
Glenn Greenwald is the best man in the blogosphere to leap to the defense of moonbat ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern: Time to smear the latest Bush critic.
Brave Sir Glenn informs us that Ray McGovern isn’t a radical leftist at all. Never mind his appearances with Mother Sheehan, his associations with Code Pink, and his participation in a “mock impeachment” that even Howard “Yeaaarrgghh!” Dean denounced as antisemitic.
On the Greenwald Show, Ray McGovern’s mainstream.
UPDATE: Needless to say, LGF has joined in the fun, informing us that McGovern is a “radical leftist, Jew hating creep.” Aside from reflecting the typical rage that gets unleashed towards Bush critics, in terms of assessing the validity of McGovern’s accusations against Rumsfeld, how does any of this smearing matter? [Uh, I don’t know… something called “credibility,” maybe? Heard of it? —ed.]
Not only is a lopsided majority of Americans (like McGovern) against the war in Iraq, they also believe (like McGovern) that the Bush administration “intentionally misled” the country into war. The fringe, radical, discredited views on the war are not those expressed by McGovern, but are those expressed by Instadpundit [sic], LGF and company. And yet those same extremists continue to classify people who oppose the war as “radicals”and “leftists” because they apparently still believe — even in the face of all that evidence to the contrary — that it is their pro-war views which represent what mainstream Americans believe.
Warning: attempting to follow the logic of that leaden final run-on sentence may induce paroxysms of laughter.
UPDATE at 5/5/06 5:26:26 pm:
Clarification to Glenn: it’s not rage. It’s disdain. Subtle distinction, I know.
