NARATHIWAT, Thailand (AFP) - Seven police officers were injured in bomb explosions and gun fire after they were lured to a village in Thailand’s restive south, police said.

Suspected Islamic militants ambushed the officers who were called to Tanyonglimo village in Narathiwat province following reports that one of the villagers had been shot, a police official said Saturday.

The militants detonated a bomb as they arrived, triggering a 10-minute shootout with the officers, the official said. The militants then fled the village in Sungai Padi district before triggering a second bomb by mobile phone, the official said. The seven officers suffered injuries to their faces and hands and are in Sungai Padi district hospital. They are not in a critical condition, he said.

A third bomb exploded Saturday at a house in a nearby village, but noone was injured.

 Frank says:

Yes, Ladies and gentleman, even in this agricultural enviroment, We're gonna' play a love song -- This was about 1974 in Harrisburg Pa. at the Farm Show Arena, a week after the Farm show had left town... Frank never admitted to playing there, and I can't say as I blame him. But, I will never forget what a magical night that was.
