And speaking of Sweden, tonight there’s news that they will increase their financial support to the United Nations’ hopelessly corrupt and terror-connected UNRWA: Sweden increases Palestinian aid. (Hat tip: Bubbaman.)

SWEDEN, a major donor for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, will increase its financial support for the agency, Foreign Aid Minister Carin Jaemtin said today.
“This year our core support will be 230 million Swedish kronor ($40.25 million),” Mr Jaemtin said during a visit to Stockholm of the body’s head, Karen Abu Zayd.

Further emergency funding would also be available if necessary, Mr Jaemtin said.

In 2005, the Scandinavian country provided over 200 million kronor in funding and 40 million in emergency aid to the UN agency. Last week, Norway said it would increase its financial aid to the agency by 50 per cent in response to concerns about a possible humanitarian crisis in Palestinian territories. Two months ago, the boycotted Hamas government ran out of money to pay its 160,000 civil servants.

Brussels and Washington have refused to have any contact with the Hamas-led Palestinian government until it complies with demands set by the Middle East quartet (United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia) to renounce violence, recognise the state of Israel and accept previously concluded agreements.

Hamas, which formed a government after winning elections in January, is considered a terrorist organisation by the European Union and the United States.

“If we want to continue to help the Palestinian people kill Jews, then we have to be a little more flexible in the way we deal with” the Hamas government, Mr Abu Zayd said.
