RetweetABC News Blog Opens the Door

Fri, Jun 9, 2006 at 12:10:52 pm PDT

ABC News blog The Blotter is pretty bold for the mainstream media; they’re apparently using Movable Type with open comments.

And they’re getting slammed by their own readers for a story about the informant (a captured terrorist) who dropped the dime on Zarqawi: Captured Zarqawi Aide Spilled the Beans.

14 Outlaw_Wizard  Fri, Jun 9, 2006 10:18:15am

Giving away sources of intelligence is ALWAYS a bad idea.

Absent this information, the remaining Al Queda in Mesopotamia cells would have had to totally revamp their security. A lot of cells would have been cut off or would have simply stopped communicating.

Now they know where the security hole was, and can take more measured steps to prevent recurrence.

English children convert to Islam

Youngest Muslim Reverts in The World. Children in England Turn To Islam. Some of the World's youngest Muslim reverts. Two sisters, aged 9 and 12 show a keen interest in Islam. It all started when they went to the Local Mosque after hearing the melodious Adthaan (call to prayer). Soon after they decided to go to classes at the mosque after school, and have bought and studied many books on Islam, and have even managed to learn and read the Quran in the Arabic language. Unlike other children, the girls spend their evenings reading books and memorising Quran as well as praying in their rooms. All of which is very new and strange to their mother.

22 Anant  Fri, Jun 9, 2006 10:21:03am

Did ABC get the information about the informant from the military's spokespeople in Iraq? If so, presumably that means that the military didn't care whether or not the info is released, so why shouldn't ABC report it?

As much as I'd enjoy ripping ABC a new one, who really released this info first?

26 Occasional Reader  Fri, Jun 9, 2006 10:24:49am

I do actually wonder if our guys perhaps have their reasons for allowing this information to "leak". Nothing creates a climate of suspicion within a criminal organization like knowing that someone "trusted" was flipped.

Zarqawi is dead. And liberals are still traitors.

That just about sums it up.

So when does the Left start complaining (if they haven't already) about the Iraqi police and our SF guys just letting the Z-man expire instead of having an ambulance standing by? I say Ramsey Clark needs to head up the investigation into our obvious cruelty and multiple violations of the Geneva Convention.

One of the more moonbatty posts there:

wow look at all the frightened republicans posting comments about how awful it is to actually know the truth.

You are all so afraid of Al Qaeda.
Al qaeda owns the GOP. They have scared you people like a pack of kindergarden children being read ghost stories. You think the media tells you too much? Whats wrong with you? 36 Just_A_Grunt  Fri, Jun 9, 2006 10:28:22am

I am mixed on releasing the name of who the source of the information was. I don't think we needed the name but I do think it was a good idea to let them know it was somebody in the inner circle. Saw that ABC was doing this a couple of weeks ago. Rusty Shackleford seemed to have already taken relish to lighting up some of the more real flamers.
There seemed to be a somewhat mixed bag, that day; kind of like watching those kos people spouting something ridiculous (I'm sure I don't need to leave any examples) and somebody from the real world smacking them down like gnats or something.
Not my kind of thing, but fun to watch during lunch.

40 EE  Fri, Jun 9, 2006 10:29:29am

The media, collectively, that publicized the face of the informant, his name, and other personal information, have done much to assure that
(1) the informant will of course be murdered, and
(2) others will be frightened to death to be informants, money or no money.

Also, the fact that during this time before he is murdered he won't be getting any of the reward money, also tends to drive anybody else away from being an informant.

He should be getting plastic surgery to change his face, and a new identity, as if he were somebody in the witness protection program. The news of his murder would have a harmful effect, even if some people think that he deserves to be murdered for his past deeds before he became an informant.

Ziad Khalaf Raja al-Karbouly was arrested by Jordanian intelligence forces last spring.

Tell Gibson, too, by the way, that he's started with a bang, and should only get better

48 Cicadajoe  Fri, Jun 9, 2006 10:33:47am

OK, I can see one frozen page, from which I glean this:

An Iraqi ice cream man secretly working with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's terror cell spilled the beans on the group after he was arrested, Jordanian officials tell ABC News.

Chuck E. Chees was arrested by Jordanian intelligence forces last spring.

Officials say Chuck confessed to his role in the terror cell and provided crucial information on the names of Zarqawi commanders and locations of their safe houses.
Chuck also admitted to his role in the kidnappings of two Moroccan embassy employees, four Iraqi National Guards and an Iraqi finance ministry official.

In a videotaped confession, Chuck said he acted on direct orders from Zarqawi.

Officials say he will not be eligible for any of the $25 million reward money.

Maybe this Chuck is an unrepentant Jihadist- maybe the Jordanians pounded his nuts with a hammer till he talked. Now they are outting him to further screw up Al Queada planning.

55 morganfrost  Fri, Jun 9, 2006 10:39:36am

Agreed. I doubt ABC learned the informants name on their own, I suspect Rove made a call. Now the insurgency knows that they can't trust their own. They're now hunting down al-Karbouly's friends, associates and co-workers. This is a great way to get the insurgency to assist in it's own destruction.

Information on a really bizarre scheme to operate secret prisons all across Europe = "a highly placed CIA employee"

information on NSA eavesdropping on terrorists phone calls = "high ranking goverment official"

A story on mishandling of Koran in Gitmo = "a senior military authority"

Story on a possible violation of the rules of war = release of full name, rank, SSN and names of next of kin along with mailing address

You would think you guys never took a journalism class or something.

If a person gets wounded in Allah’s Cause he will arrive on the Day of Judgment with his wound in the same condition as it was when it was first inflicted; its color will be blood but its smell will be musk perfume. If it were not too hard on Muslims I would not lag behind any raid going out to fight in the Cause of Allah. But I do not have abundant means to provide them (the Mujahids [Islamic terrorists]) with riding beasts, nor have they all have the means (to provide themselves with the weapons of Jihad). Back in the day - under the Presidency of FDR, such reporting would have been censored - eliminating all references to means, methods, and sources.

But since the media wants to blab about all this stuff, it is possible that the Pentagon is feeding a line about how they've got informers on the inside and out giving up their leaders at a tip of the hat. Psy-ops is a possibility, but the most likely situation is that someone blabbed.

And that's not a good thing at all.

Family's fears at East London terror protest

The noisy demonstration outside Forest Gate police station was contained within a police pen opposite. Protestors waved placards against police tactics and shouted: "Hands off Muslims. Tony Blair is a terrorist and Tony Blair, watch your back."

In a chilling aside, a statement put out by al-Ghurabaa, followers of Alh us-Sunnah Wal Jamaa, said that the killing of Muslims was the price Britons have to pay because of the ‘real terrorists in our midst’.

In an apparent non-sequitur, the statement added: "After all, imagine what would happen if a nuclear device were to be unleashed onto the streets of Britain or if our water supply were suddenly poisoned killing millions of us."

"The mosque gave me the leaflets," he said. "It’s about the police."

This just in:

Hamas is calling off their truce with Israel after a bunch of Palestinians were killed or injured at a Gaza beach. It's unclear what happened, but the Palis are accusing Israel of dropping artillery on the area.

IDF is investigating, and they're looking at a dud round or misfire as possible explanations.

Israel wouldn't have to resort to counter battery fire if the Palestinians didn't keep firing rockets and mortars into Israeli territory.

Hamas Vows to Renew Attacks on Israel After 15 Killed (Update1)

The military wing of the Hamas movement that controls the Palestinian Authority said it will renew attacks against Israel after 15 Palestinians were killed in Israeli artillery fire and an air strike.

``These Zionist measures are the beginning of a battle which means there will once again be an earthquake in Zionist cities and all that will remain of those rapists will be their baggage and a shroud,'' said a leaflet distributed by the military wing Issadine el Qassam.

WHICH IDENTITY?

The identity is the reality of every person and every individual that distinguishes him from anybody else, therefore the identity is related to his personality, which in turn composes the mentality of the person, composes of the emotions and the feelings of the person and it is related to his physical and character and behaviour. That is manifest in the Hadith of the Aisha (ra), where she said,

"I heard from umm ul Mu'mineen Safiyyah that she was the dearest child to her father and her uncle, and she said, "Whenever I meet them, they used to take me instead of any other child. When the messenger (saw) came to their tribe, they came to him and did not leave him until sunset and then when they returned they were so tired, so I went to them and did what I used to do regularly for them, and none of them turned to look at me and I heard my uncle Abu Yaasir say to my father, "is everything ok?" he said, "Yes by Allah" and he said, "did we met him? Is he really the messenger)?" he replied "yes" and he asked him “what was in your heart for him”, he said, "Animosity towards him for as long as I live"

So when they went to meet the prophet (saw), they returned and did not change even though he declared that he recognised the prophet (saw) and that is proof that the identity of the prophet (saw) was the same as the identity mentioned in the Torah and distinguished him from anybody else. The father of Safiyyah was a Jew and was knowledgeable about the torah, they went to the prophet (saw) and they did not want to believe in him but they wanted to check if it was true that he was the messenger and when they returned, he asked, "Is it him? As it was in the torah?" he said "yes" and he said that he will have animosity to him as long as he lives.

That identity is what distinguished him (saw) from anybody else it is about what the person believes, his thoughts and ideas, his personality, his style and way of life; like if someone said, "I am a Muslim" or "my Deen is Islam."; he is describing his identity. However if he made it more specific and said, "I am a Muslim who believes in Islam according to Ahl Al Sunnah Wal Jama'ah," then he is distinguishing himself by his identity.

Furthermore, the identity of the individual is different from the identity of the society, because it could be that you have an Islamic identity and yet you are living between the man-made identities of the Kufr society. So the identity is what forms and shapes the behaviour, character and thoughts etc and could be completely different from what is prevalent where you live. In our case, the identity we carry is completely different from the identity of the society and this is an almighty tradition.

In my 20 + years of active duty I had the press tag along a couple of times and they were always a hinderance as far as being there with cameras and reporters and it always amazed that more of them don't get killed for the stupid stuff they do. Most of the time they just tagged along on training missions so they didn't have any real need to feel threatened, but like Bear Bryant used to say "Practice the way you are going to play". The habits they developed then would surely transfer over.

Haditha continues to unravel:

U.S. father visiting Haditha saw no sign of massacre

An actual Father, in San Fransisco, in a story from Reuters no less.

A Presbyterian minister who was an embedded reporter with his son's U.S. Marine company, which is accused of killing 24 Iraqi civilians in Haditha, said soldiers in private moments gave no indication anything horrible happened in the town.

"It was freezing cold and everybody gathered around this kind of metal fireplace where we chopped up wooden pallets and burnt them and we'd sit there and talk about home and family and the deepest things with these kids," he said in an interview on Thursday. "Not once did anything come up that something horrible had happened."

"They talked about the first battle of Falluja and things that haunt them. They'd talk about they had mortars land right beside them that were duds and three landed right beside them and a third one went off and it injured the buddy next to them and they didn't get hit."

He said he also did not feel animosity from Iraqis he encountered while on patrol with Kilo company in Haditha.

"You would think that if something horrible had happened they would just disappear or just have nothing to do with these folks," Mathes said. "They came out on the streets and brought us bread and tea and invited us into their homes. The businessmen would have them come into their shops."

Christopher Price, a Georgia-based Presbyterian minister who travelled with Mathes to Iraq, also reported he saw no signs of bad feelings between Iraqis and Kilo company.

Sounds just like My Lia.

According to other sources, the name "Gozer" is from a documented haunting that came to the attention of Dan Aykroyd, but this is unsubstantiated.

Gozer has two dog-like minions called Zuul ("The Gatekeeper") and Vinz Clortho ("The Keymaster"). Gozer the Traveler appears in one of her pre-chosen forms

Each Viper (F-16) self-lased a GBU-38. The video shows, on the first delivery, the word "AREA" just below the target in the center of the cursors. AREA means that the pilot has "captured" the target in Area Track mode. The "L" to the right of AREA flashes when the laser is firing / guiding the GBU. The second attack / delivery does show a weapons countdown in the lower right corner. The laser is on, but isn't firing. The wingie may be lasing this one in.

I have heard those reports also. But the F 16's were definately lasing. If the ground guys were also painting the target it could have been insurance. IIRC we used to paint targets on the ground and the flyboys would ride their own beams down also. Just sayin.

From what I have been told for sure;

The 2 F16's were at medium altitude, about 12-16000 feet.
they used GBU 38's. I originally thought GBU 12 or 22's (but have heard from friends in country since) and that the F16's lased the targets.

I would think that since the plane is moving at such a great speed, it would be much faster...

Welll, they can fly slowly but that slowly?!?...When I was at the Chicago Air & Water Show, the jet did fly at the speed of a propeller powered plane...

Ok I will try to explain it. The aircraft is actually on the bomb run then orbiting. It appears to move slowly but actually is probably doing 300 knots. The camera's on these aircraft can stay on (follow) the target throughout different manuevers, attitudes and speeds. The technology is amazing. This is definately NOT predator footage. It's the attack aircraft. Im not being sarcastic, but it's not WWII anymore. These aren't B29's lol

This tragic incident by the Zionist occupiers of deliberately targeting innocent civilians, women, and children shows just how depraved and evil Israel is.

Therefore HAMAS is going to immediately resume its policy of targeting Israeli civilians, women, and children with terrorist attacks.

Seriously, based on the Israeli "mea culpas" and other nearby activity, it sounds like Israel screwed up here. . .though not necessarily. There was some terrorist activity nearby, and if Israel's aim was less than perfect, under the rules of war, the aggressors would be reponsible for return fire that hurt civilians.

Also, I wouldn't put it past HAMAS to manufacture a sympathy incident like this to shore up domestic and foreign support now that its flagging.

Cell phone tracking helped find al-Zarqawi

Intelligence from cell phone technology helped U.S. forces find and kill Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, said an Iraqi army colonel Friday in an exclusive interview with CNN.

Col. Dhiya Tamimi said he worked with U.S. forces to monitor al-Zarqawi and his associates' cell phones, helping to lead to Wednesday night's airstrike on a safe house near Baquba.

I'm sure they know we use cell phones to track them but it can't be a good idea to let them know that whatever cell Zarky was using is no longer safe.

Apparently they either stopped the postings
or Deleted mine because...

I Tell it like it is...

they are all
Guilty of
Treason
Spying for the Islamic terrorists
Aiding and abbetting the Terrorists
Encouraging the terrorists
Disclosing troop deployments , armaments, tactics, schedules

Helping the enemy moral (abu grave shown 6000 times) while 2 pictures of US soldiers helping the iraqis and doing GOOD..

I state this publicly

when Not if but when the ISLAMIC terrorists hit the USA again the REAL americans will now have three Groups of targets...

1. the ISLAMIC terrorists and their suporters
2. The liberal reporters, execs, cameramen and college professors
3. the laywers who support the islamo fasists like the ACLU and others..

When we are hit again
We will first take out ALL of the Islamic terrorists in the USA..
Then their leftist supporters...
and Nothing will stop americas wrath...

We will NOT tolerate..
TRAITORS and Subversives..
Even if they are
Muslims
journalists
senators
lawyers...

Period...

A little OT, maybe.
Yesterday I visited BBC Online and read the comments under a story about Zarq's demise. (If you've never visited there, you should know that registered visitors can "vote" for a comment). While there were the usual terrorist apologists from the UK and beyond (about 25%), they were receiving around seven or eight nods, while the "Whoo hoo the a**hole's dead," comments were getting twenty or thirty.

One person likened his death to dropping a bomb on Hitler's bunker and suggested anyone who didn't cheer his death was willfully ignorant- that person got 40 recommendations.

Anyway, I think the silent majority is out there and growing, and is getting wise to the media's endless manipulation of the facts to suit their agenda. The next step is to stop being silent.

Not that anyone here is, of course!
