Targeting an area from which Palestinians were firing rockets into Israel, an IDF artillery shell hit a group of Palestinians on a Gaza beach, killing at least 7 (the numbers have been fluctuating wildly), including several children. It appears to be a sad and regrettable accident, and the Israeli Army has already Top Worldwide" target="_blank">

, offering medical assistance to the victims.

“The Israeli army deeply regrets any harm caused to innocent civilians and has offered any medical assistance needed including hospitalization in Israel,” the army statement said.

Of course, it’s incredibly common for Palestinian terrorists to put civilians (and especially children) in harm’s way as “cover” for attacks, then exploit the inevitable accidents to the hilt for their propaganda benefit.

Let’s compare and contrast the IDF’s apology and offer to help with the reaction of the terror gangs who are really responsible for the deaths in Gaza: Hamas calls off truce with Israel after 10 die.

“The Israeli massacres represent a direct opening battle,” Hamas’s armed wing said in a statement echoed by its political leaders.

“The earthquake in the Zionist cities will resume and the herds of occupiers have no choice but to prepare the coffins or the departing luggage.”

Mr Zappa, I am astounded at the courtesy and soft voiced nature of the comments of my friend, the Senator from Tennessee. I can only say that I find your statement to be boorish, incredibly and insensitively insulting to the people who were here previously, that you could manage to give the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States a bad name, if I felt you had the slightest understanding of it, which I do not. -- - Senator Slade Gorton
