Christian Peacemaker Loney Defends Jihadis
Christian Peacemaker Teams moonbat James Loney is in the Canadian news again, supporting the Canadian Muslims accused of plotting mass murder: Former Iraq hostage joins protest over security certificates. (Hat tip: LGF readers.)
Loney stood at the steps of the building that houses the Prime Minister’s Office in the nation’s capital and explained that he felt an obligation to throw his public support behind the detainees because three of them wrote an open letter late last year appealing to Loney’s kidnappers to free him.
“I was very moved by that gesture, them speaking out for me while they were suffering from detention,” said Loney, one of four members of Christian Peacemaker Team who was kidnapped in Baghdad last November. One of the men was killed by his captors.
Loney was part of a “freedom caravan” that will wind up at the Supreme Court of Canada today as it considers whether the federal government’s practice of indefinitely detaining non-Canadians suspected of terrorist links is unconstitutional.
Loney of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was among about two dozen protesters who denounced federal “security certificates,” that give the government the right to hold suspects indefinitely without charge as judges decide whether they pose a threat to Canadian security, based largely on secret information from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
“If freedom is going to be taken away from people, there better be a transparent process to justify that, because any one of us could be at risk,” said Loney.
