MEMRI TV gathers video clips of Jordanian Islamists, members of Parliament and jihadist groups reacting to the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, broadcast on most of the major Arab satellite networks including Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya.

Reporter: You pronounced Al-Zarqawi a martyr and a mujahid, but left the victims of the Amman bombings up to Allah…

Muhammad Abu Fares: Because Al-Zarqawi went to fight the Americans. Who were the bombing victims fighting? There is a great difference between the two. This man left his family and his country, and went off to fight the plundering occupying Americans, and tried to fight the Jews.

Those killed [in the Amman bombings] were Muslims. You see? I pray that Allah enfolds them in His mercy, but I cannot call them martyrs. Only demagogical and ignorant people say: “So-and-so is a martyr.” A martyr, as the Prophet said… The Prophet was asked about people who fight for spoils, people who fight to defend their homes, or people who fight for… He said: Whoever fights to make the word of Allah supreme does so for the sake of Allah.

 Frank says:

For my taste, these solos (of some 50s blues guitarists) are exemplary because what is being played seems honest and, in a musical way, a direct extension of the personality of the men who played them. -- January 1977.
