Dismantle the 'Palestinian Authority' and kill Fatah and Hamas.

Don't stop till the job is done.

I sure hope so.

Do it right: crush all of the terrorist groups and the PA. Put an end to qassam rocket fire at Israeli communities.

Don't leave Gaza until the Palestinians unconditionally surrender.

"IDF Preparing for Gaza Incursion" -- Charles Johnson

From what I'm seeing, they're conducting preparatory fires into the area they intend to make the MBA [Main Battle Area].

Currently, it's the Forward Edge of the Battle Area [FEBA]. But I suppose that with their 'pro-active defense', the FEBA will become the MBA.

Prayer for the Well-Being
of the Israel Defense Forces

May He who blessed our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, bless the soldiers of the Israel Defence Forces, who stand watch over our land and the cities of our Lord, from the Lebanese border to the desert of Egypt and from the great sea to the verge of the wilderness, on land, in the air, and at sea. May God strike down before them our enemies who rise against us. May the Holy One save and spare our soldiers from all forms of woe and distress, of affliction and illness, and may He invest their every action with blessing and success. May he vanquish by their means those who hate us, and may He adorn them with a crown of deliverance and a mantle of victory. Thus may the verse be fulfilled: “For it is the Lord your God who marches with you to do battle for you against your enemy, to bring you victory.” Now let us respond “Amen.”

Anticipating an invasion, Palestinian militants piled up sand on roads near the border and in Gaza City. "We are ready to confront any stupid act that the Zionists might commit," said Abu Obeida, spokesman for the military wing of Hamas, the Islamic group that controls the Palestinian parliament.

Said sparky with his water pistol while facing the 155 mm Howitzer. Dumb bastards.

Go Israel, do a complete sweep, set them back to square zero.

Afterwards, capture all the documents and intelligence you can and pick up the original Hamas Charter while you are at it.

Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it" (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).

Invoking God's protection for the members of the Israel Defense Forces.

May the Almighty cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighters from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under our soldiers' sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is the Lord your God, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

Now let us respond: Amen.

just an observation...

many of us know that World War IV began a long time ago. This is the high-water mark where the rest of the world will finally acknowledge that this is a battle between civilization and the evil orks. There is no difference. There is evil and there is good!

As God as my witness we will not waver, in spite of POS' like Kerry, Kennedy, Murtha, and the NYT's!

Crush them like cock-roaches, IDF! World-Cup, who cares! I want to see Islael retake Gaza, repopulate Gaza, and rebuild the Temple! Enough foreplay, let's get this mother on!

Trust me, by negotiate, I meant "now that we have disarmed you and rounded you up, we have decided to take back Gaza permanently. You can take a bus to Egypt or a bus to the West Bank. For active terrorists, we offer the choice of prison or a firing squad. We are open to negotiations."

There is no point to negotiating with people whose word is worthless. That goes for you too, Iran.

And it says: "For He who exacts retribution for spilled blood remembers them
He does not forget the cry of the humble."
And it says:
"He will execute judgement among the corpse-filled nations
crushing the rulers of the mighty land;

then he will hold his head high".

Look, guys, let's not get carried away here. Israel is a looong way from declaring war on the P.A. or Hamas, let alone "Trail of Tearing" them.

Look: from the current update at the Jerusalem Post, under a picture datelined a few minutes ago:

Mohammed Abdel Al, a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees, a violent group with ties to the Hamas-led Palestinian government, speaking to journalists in Gaza City Tuesday.

In other words, the guy who leads the guys who have *publicly claimed responsibility* for the act of war and the kidnapping is holding gosh darn press conferences right out in the open under the harsh kleig lights of the cameras.

Now, I ask you: does that sound like that act of a man who has just had war declared on him or who is the least frightened that it would happen?

Smash Evil! GO IDF. May your ordnance find only the Guilty.

...and may there be nothing left of the Guilty but fragments when you're done

This whole thing stinks to me. Two months of planning for this kidnap operation, hints that the Israeli guy is being held in a "refugee camp" (what do you want to bet the TV cameras are already set up to record the ensuing 'massacre'?), Syrian protection for the fellow who orchestrated it appears practically overnight, the Muslim Brotherhood calling for war in Egypt, Israeli border guards revealing (via Michael Totten) that Hezbo'/Iran has been brewing "something big" in South Lebanon for months now...

Can we get this thing started already? Pussyfooting around costs more lives in the long run...

Does Israel take volunteers? :p

The Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)

From Article Eight:

Allah is its target, the Prophet is its model, the Koran its constitution: Jihad is its path and death for the sake of Allah is the loftiest of its wishes.

From Article Thirteen:

There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.

Sounds like Islam to me!

Re: Prisoners' Document. CNN (TV) story banner: Hamas and Fatah Recognize Israel. I kid you not.

Big lies:
Check is in the mail.
This won't hurt a bit.
Most trusted name in News.

According to Jpost:

The original document called for "restricting" attacks on Israelis to the territories captured by Israel in 1967. The revised document, however, calls for "focusing" the attacks on these territories, implying that the Palestinian groups could still carry out attacks inside Israel proper.

Although the document calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem, it does not talk about a two-state solution or Israel's right to exist.

Maybe, just for giggles, someone in the MSM might just READ the d*mn thing.

There comes a time when enough has long, long since been enough.

The paleoswineans have proven for decades and decades and decades that they are unfit, unable and unwilling to join the human race.

129 transient  Tue, Jun 27, 2006 1:45:44pm

I also don't think the IDF will be pushing the Palestinians into the sea, or into Sinai. I think the best we can hope for, if Olmert locates his testicles, is something like Beirut 1982. Do massive damage (more than Beirut) and when the world complains (which they will effective 60 seconds after commencement of invasion), offer the terrorists the option of rapid transit to Tunisia, or hell.

Israel will not massacre civilians. Israel will not enforce population transfer. Israel will not allow resettlement in Gaza. To believe otherwise is to engage in wishful thinking.

Politics have probably irreversibly moved in the direction of autonomy if not statehood, however little the Palestinians deserve it, so the sensible thing to do after de-infesting and disarming Gaza is to try to set up some sort of Mandate authority to establish peaceful, organized, non-corrupt infrastructure with the help and boundless coffers of the international community. Israel to be responsible for security matters at minimum, because no one else can be trusted to do it.

130 von  Tue, Jun 27, 2006 1:46:59pm

Apologies if this has already been said, but:

From one of TFA's:
Israeli military officials said a limited operation has been authorized for southern Gaza, aimed at "terrorist infrastructure." The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to reporters.

Interesting concept. Not letting officials talk to reporters. We could learn a lesson from that methinks.

Oh, and... Not that I advocate underestimatinating the enemy or anything (I believe Sun Tzu had a few things to say about that)... But if you want an indication of the kind of razor-sharp, penetrating intellects the IDF is up against, have a look at this picture here:

DEIR AL-BALAH, -: Palestinians work to block the main street in Deir el-Balah refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, 27 June 2006, three days after Palestinian militants carried out a military operation on an Israeli military base close to the southern Gaza Strip nabbing one soldier. Israeli officials today dismissed as an internal Palestinian affairs' crucial agreement on a deal that implicitly recognizes Israel's right to exist despite the implications of the accord. AFP PHOTO/SAMUEL ARANDA (Photo credit should read SAMUEL ARANDA/AFP/Getty Images)

Somebody might want to point out that, you know... there's this huge open space immediately to the side of the wall which appears plenty big enough for a tank to drive through. Thereby enabling the tank to like - wait for it - drive around the little pile of stones there.

I keep forgetting that science is against Islam. They need to have these things explained to them.

The IDF also has a 24 hour program in Hebrew on shortwave, 1900-0400 UTC on 6973 kHz and 0400-1900 UTC on 15785 kHz. They only run 10 kW power, though, and it's aimed at Europe. If anyone has access to a decent SW receiver and an outdoor antenna they can receive it in the eastern U.S., although it's a bit early in the evening for this time of year just now. I've picked them up before but I don't speak Hebrew. I doubt they'll broadcast anything "live" but it may be closer to the after event reports than the U.S. media will have later tonight.

Interesting concept. Not letting officials talk to reporters. We could learn a lesson from that methinks.

That is only because the media is in lockstep with Olmert's very tired security policy. I assure you, were it a "right wing" government making this move, there would be all sorts of leaks and criticism.

Of course, the media will rest assured that this is nothing more than Olmert's Asprin Factory moment.

Foolish infidel, you're only seeing half the plan. Once the concrete blocks are in place, they plan to paint a fake tunnel entrance on them, so that the Zionists tanks crash headfirst into concrete! They learned this technique by watching strategy films prepared by the Great Satan itself, a series involving a Zionist Coyote and a freedom-fighting islamic Roadrunner.

This has been a startling day in the long Mideast war. This was the day the Pali propaganda machine went into a tailspin. We have caught up with their cycle. The script was pre-written for Israel to be paralyzed by the Hamas peace offensive just as it was about to take action. I was watching the BBC all day as they seemed to execute their anti-Israel script. They started leading with the menace of an Israeli invasion. Then, suddenly they turned with great vigor into the story of Hamas' intention to recognize Israel. I feel their propaganda was to work in tandem with Hamas, like a trap. It was all too pat. Just as Israel massed its forces, the BBC and other media announced in no uncertain terms that Hamas has recognized Israel's right to exist. It "recognized" Israel, said the BBC in no uncertain terms.

A few years ago, or even a few months ago, that would have caused enough of a wave of public opinion that Israel might have been stopped. It would have taken the better part of a week to get the truth out. But this time, just as I said to myself "this has got to be bullsh*t" apparently the rest of the world's media did exactly the same thing. First GoogleNews picked up some alternative news sources that noted Hamas indeed did not recognize Israel. In fact, Hamas did nothing of the sort. Within an hour or two the truth was all over the wires. The propaganda war failed.

I believe that we, the alternative media, have made our case so plainly and so publicly that the media was forced to exert enough discipline to look at the thing sceptically before jumping. When they did, there was a rash of stories about the bad spot Hamas had put itself in.

At this moment we are seeing something we haven't seen for quite some time. Because the media was caught off guard, they are covering the story factually and without apparent bias, for the moment. Just covering the story. Let's see how long that lasts. Until they can connive up a Jenin-like massacre I suspect.

242 Ayatollah Ghilmeini  Tue, Jun 27, 2006 3:11:14pm

Not to take up more of Charles' hard drive than necessary, my comments on this action are back couple of posts:

[Link: littlegreenfootballs.com...]

The terrorists made a terrible error, they underestimated Israel's response. Israel's leaders not responding sooner did play into the miscalculation based on the radical's flase belief of Israel's weakness and unwillingness to face the usual international condemnation.

Lastly, Iran has been spending big bucks to cause as much terror in and around Israel.

Finally, Israel may stay a while but Gaza, when they leave it, will be a different place. Israel may sweep up all of Hamas leaders and toss them in prison. The smarter Palestinians, like Dahlan, might even order his troops to stand down and not resist and thereby become the core of a new lawful militia.

Almost a year ago< predicted this whole mess:

But as good as that is, you get the bonus, Hamas, who are just like your current leaders only more corrupt and clueless. They will send your kid to die but not theirs; plus they really think that with just a little more war, you can drive Israel into the sea. Israelis are made of much tougher stuff and there no more guaranteed sure-fire formula for disaster than followng Hamas and you are just dumb enough to follow them! Between Hamas and Fateh, your lions of leadership have managed to decrease your GDP by 90%. Even the fucked up Argentinians never did so poorly.

What Hamas doesn't tell you is that if they actually do manage to kill some Jews, the revenge of Israel will be harsh. Building a state while subject to aerial bombardment from one of the best air forces in the world is not recommended. Did I mention that Ariel Sharon, who has won every war he has fought (including your current little intifada ) is not a very forgiving man. The Jewish people have a concept called rachmones, it means compassion or mercy. Disengagement is your rachmones; you folks need to figure out a new future for yourselves fast because the side of Mr. Sharon's character that took him to the gates of Cairo and Beruit is what you will get for continuing the war after disengagement.

OK I missed Sharon's stroke.

Israel Army Radio reports that there have been IDF troop movements into northern Gaza and that air strikes have begun. The goal of Operation Summer Rain is to rescue Cpl. Shalit and uproot the terrorist infrastructure.

247 EE  Tue, Jun 27, 2006 3:16:10pm

The Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip has been a failure. It ended the occupation of the Gaza Strip. Some 8000 Jewish population living there were removed. Israeli soldiers were removed from there. What it accomplished was the empowerment of jihadi terrorists. Rockets were fired at an Israeli community that was established in 1955. A tunnel was dug into Israel to kill and to kidnap.

The result of this was supposed to be support from the international community for Israel's efforts to defend itself. The result was supposed to be support from the international community for Israel's striking hard at the Gaza Hamastan. We shall see if the international community does this. Or if this was all a foolish dream not rooted in reality.

Here is Caroline Glick's column. She doesn't see Olmert's policy as being anything more than the empowerment of terrorists, with the result being that terrorists now have more power.
[Link: www.jpost.com...]

Well, we shall soon see whether Olmert is willing and able to follow through on the threatened strong action against the Gaza Hamastan, or whether he is just a phony, with a failed plan that doesn't include any trace of reality, any logic, nor any consistency.

249 lawhawk  Tue, Jun 27, 2006 3:16:55pm

We're in stage one. Expect to hear that the bridge demolition amounts to nothing more than a collective punishment and that Israel has violated international law.

Never mind the fact that terrorists violate the law every day, by hiding among civilians - using them as human shields, cannon fodder, and otherwise subjecting them to attack (either as collateral damage or intentionally put in harms' way).

Never mind that Hamas is a terrorist group dedicated to Israel's destruction.

Never mind that Fatah is a terrorist organization that seeks Israel's destruction.

Never mind that these two groups set aside their differences to kill Israelis at every opportunity and utilize the trilateral strategy to deflect blame when terrorist groups strike at Israel.

Never mind that Israel has been subject to attack by Fatah, Hamas and PIJ groups incessantly for months on end with missile and rocket attacks. Each attack, particularly by Hamas is an act of war as Hamas is the government in charge of the territories.

There are a lot of dynamics at work here and not just with the actual, for lack of a better word, raid being conducted by the IDF right now.
Eyes and ears need to be tuned to the Palestinian factions to see if one or the other attempt a coup of sorts. Also see what other internal strife or conflict starts in the the different factions of the PLO. This may be the catalyst for all out civil war among the Palis.
Then we can watch the fun as the media tries to determine which faction is the insurgents and which is the militants.

Couple of strategic considerations:

Hezbollah The A-team of terror will not sit by and let the IDF lay waste to all their work in Gaza be destroyed, the problem they have is if they start to stir things up north, Israel will hit them as well- with everything.

Those worried about Egypt need not be. The 2500 troops Egypt sent to seal the border are there because Hamas' logistic and operational support for al Qaeda operations in Egypt threatens Egyptian state security.

Israel asked Egypt to seal the border, and for once, Egypt was actaully happy to help.

The only question now is whether Israel can be bought off by the release of Gilad and just march out lesson taught or if Olmert has just decided to have done with Hamas and its leadership once and for all.

277 GregInSeattle  Tue, Jun 27, 2006 6:29:37pm

The press usually won't tell you stuff like this. From ynetnews

At around 1:30 a.m. five missiles were fired at a power station in south Gaza; blackouts were reported some Gaza areas, but partial power in Gaza City was restored by tapping into electricity supplied by Israel in northern Gaza.

This seems to me similar to the US supplying electricity to Warziristan (where they think Bin Laden is hidding).

Here is the prayer for the IDF

Invoking God's protection for the members of the Israel Defense Forces.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Forces, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our God, from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
