 RetweetPalestinians Using Iranian Weapons?

Wed, Jun 28, 2006 at 8:37:53 am PDT

It’s been pointed out by several LGF readers who know more than I do about such things that the explosive devices being planted by Palestinian terrorists—as children stand around—in these two photos (from Reuters and the Associated Press, respectively) resemble the type of shaped anti-tank charges manufactured by the Islamic Republic of Iran:

Here’s a drawing of a shaped charge from the Telegraph, showing how they work:

Here’s another picture of the device:

And here’s another revealing photo of Palestinian children serving as human shields for the terrorists:

For the benefit of those who aren't metric-friendly:

Concave steel or copper plate produces molten jet travelling at 2000 meteres per second 6500 ft/sec, or 4430 mph. Capable of penetrating up to 10 cm 4 inches of armor at 100m 300 ft.

The disappearances of the stepsisters — 7-year-old Stacy Lemmens and 10-year-old Nathalie Mahy — has shocked Belgium, and police have charged a convicted child rapist in their June 10 abduction.

The suspect in their disappearance, 39-year-old Abdallah Aid Oud, was the boyfriend of a waitress in the cafe, and police say he was seen in the area shortly before the girls vanished. He was released in December after serving a second sentence for raping a minor.

Second sentence? *spit*

Gaza militants ready to fight back

Includes obligatory pic of terrorists with ablative child armor.

“We haven’t slept in three days,” says Abu Hamza, a spokesman for Islamic Jihad. “Every street that we think the enemy is likely to use, we go there and set up ambushes and wait for him.”

Despite the militants’ preparations and larger arsenal, Israel’s military supremacy remains overwhelming, as dozens of tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery batteries have been deployed on Gaza’s doorstep.

At the entrance to the Jabaliya refugee camp, laborers worked yesterday to seal off the camp’s front gate with earthen mounds and sandbags.

Palestinian faction leaders say there is total co-ordination among the various armed groups. The defence against the Israeli invasion will be co-ordinated from a joint operations room, they say.

“This is not going to be like last time,” says Abu Jendel, military commander for the Al-Aqsa Brigades in southern Gaza. “We will surprise the Israelis.”

In an Islamic Jihad compound in Khan Younis, Abu Hamza’s radio crackles to life. Four Apache combat helicopters have set down in Israel just across the border in Rafah, an observer in the field says.

“These bulletins and this network is for all the factions,” says Hamza.

Abu Jendel says the Israelis will encounter unprecedented levels of resistance, the result of ever worsening economic conditions and the regular reports of Palestinian civilians dying in errant Israeli air strikes or shelling.

“They are going to confront an entire and united people,” he says. “We, the Palestinians, have more desire to fight now than ever before.”

On the streets of Gaza, some Palestinians vow to stand up and fight, while others say they will lie low and wait out the Israeli siege praying for safety.

“All the Palestinians are ready to fight this invasion,” says Abu Yad, 35, a travel agent whose defiant rhetoric belies his otherwise soft-spoken demeanour.

Down the street, Mohamed Subhi, 26, an off-duty police officer, is not quite so bellicose.

“The resistance is for certain people,” he says. “We all support them of course, but we’re not all going to stand and die alongside them.”

* Iraq was considered to be a nuclear battleground in GW1 because the US used depleted uranium shells to tank bust.

Technically speaking, EFPs are a different thing from shaped charges: a study on EFPs.

I've seen, in a research journal, high-speed pictures of the molten metal jet produced by shaped charges; this group was studying the use of titanium alloy armor plates.

35 Earth2moonbat  Wed, Jun 28, 2006 7:05:32am

From the telegraph article:

The Ministry of Defence has attempted to play down the effectiveness of the weapons, suggesting that they are "crude" or "improvised" explosive devices which have killed British troops more out of luck than judgement.

However, this newspaper understands that Government scientists have established that the mines are precision-made weapons which have been turned on a lathe by craftsmen trained in the manufacture of munitions.

So it's turned in a lathe. BFD. What is it about these journalists who insist on making a much bigger deal out of the capabilities of these islamosavages that is warranted? The theory behind it is sophisticated, but I'm sure they didn't develop the technology, they just copied it from China or wherever. Manufacturing them is no big deal. It's an oversized pipe full of explosives with a freeze plug.

36 Kim Hartveld  Wed, Jun 28, 2006 7:07:30am

I strongly suspect Iran taught Hamas or Fatah or others how to make them, rather than supply them directly, but again, it makes no difference - we already have and have had for a looong time sufficent reason to declare war on Iran or, if W wanted to go back to 1979, simply acknowledge that a state of war exists.

I'm all for taking out the regime in Iran, but with the situation in Iraq, this might not be possible right now.

With the troops in Iraq not heading out in the very near future, how would we set a battle plan?

I guess it would be possible that we could have a long campaign of airstrikes, but do we even have the manpower (ground forces) to fight a war on two fronts?

Dont know if I would want to find out...

51 Ariel  Wed, Jun 28, 2006 7:24:45am

Owl #43,

If I had to guess, it's that the Israelis are trying hard to believe that the 'Palestinians' will give in to pressure. They are trying to ratchet up the pressure slowly to indicate their seriousness while allowing themselves and the 'Palestinians' the ability to back down.

The reality, that Olmert/Peretz do not accept, is that the 'Palestinians' do not want to back down and are looking forward to the conflict. They want to make this into Jenin II and they know that the 'international community' will help them. The Israelis are too afraid of the 'international community' so they are trying to demonstrate that the 'Palestinians' have the ability to back down if they so choose. In this case, since the Israelis have not accepted reality, they are going to lose some of their own as a consequence as the 'Palestinians' continue preparations.

Reactive armour, which the Israeli's developed first, if I remember correct, can defeat a shaped charge. The principle is to have small explosive plates mounted around a vehicle. When the shape charge detontates against the explosive plate, the exlposive plate explodes outwords, negating the stream of the charge.

A picture can been seen here

I doubt these charges will really hamper the Israelis.

Diplomocy has failed, just like it did with Saddam, and the only option, to get the message across loud and clear, is strategicly placed nukes in Iran!

They will continue to defy the world, until they are fully capable of nukes, and they have no plans of stopping.

The kook Iranian, Amhadinnerjacket has made his plans clear, for some time now, and if the world doesn't stop him cold, there then will be one hell of a world nuclear war, which could have been eliminated by simply nuking high priority targets in Iran.

KIBBUTZ NAHAL OZ – The Syrian government has deployed security forces to protect overall Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal and has advised him to restrict all public activities for the time being, Hamas officials in the Gaza Strip told WorldNetDaily today.

Israeli security officials earlier this week told WorldNetDaily they have information the terrorists who carried out the Hamas raid and Shalit kidnapping were trained by Iranian Revolutionary Guard units and Hezbollah guerillas. The information comes in part from a Hamas terrorist allegedly involved in the plot who was arrested by Israeli forces in Gaza the day before the kidnapping.
