The Washington Post’s Scott Wilson perpetrates an outrageous falsehood in a piece about Israeli Arabs: In Nazareth, Arab Israelis Now at Risk. (Hat tip: Ryan.)

The roughly 1.2 million Arab citizens of Israel — one-fifth of the population — do not serve in the army, now engaged on the northern and southern borders.

This claim is completely false. Israeli Arabs are not required to serve in the IDF, but many volunteer for service, especially Bedouins and Druze Arabs.
