Last Tuesday we reported on the UK’s Islamic Human Rights Commission’s suit against the British government, for allowing US arms shipments to Israel to use UK airports. In an update to that absurd story, the High Court has called the IHRC’s case “hopeless:” High court dismisses Muslim group.

The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC), a London based Muslim advocacy organisation, said the government “aided and abetted” violations of international humanitarian law and crimes against the Geneva Convention by allowing US arms flights to Israel to use UK airports. As well as the foreign office, it also brought the same accusations against the UK’s Secretary of State for Defence Des Browne and the Civil Aviation Authority.

The IHRC sought a judicial review over what it says are “crimes against the Geneva Convention” and accused the government of “grave and serious violations of international humanitarian law”.

The judge at London’s High Court dismissed the plea by the IHRC for permission to seek a judicial review and an injunction against the government. …

The IHRC said it brought the case to court after claiming to have received “many complaints from British citizens whose family members are in Lebanon and facing grave danger as well as acts of terror”.

On Wednesday, Mr Justice Ouseley said the charges were “hopeless” and the IHRC had failed to establish “an arguable case by a very long way”.
