OT: Jew-o-phobia on the rise in Britania....
Critics of Israel 'fuelling hatred of British Jews'

MPs demand action against rising abuse, harassment and even violence

A group of prominent MPs, alarmed at the rise of anti-semitism in Britain, will accuse some left-wing activists and Muslim extremists this week of using criticism of Israel as 'a pretext' for spreading hatred against British Jews.
The charge is made in a hard-hitting report - by MPs from all three major political parties - which will be unveiled at a Downing Street meeting with Tony Blair on Thursday.

The report is published in the wake of an alarming increase in verbal harassment, abusive emails and letters, and even violent assaults on British Jews. The number of incidents that took place in July, which came in the middle of escalating violence in the Middle East, was the third highest on record.

That way we could just click on that link and get the list of links and stories in the post above.

One more OT: Brittish Islamo-academy raid update...
Young Muslims held in terror camp crackdown

Yesterday police also sealed off a school in East Sussex run by an Islamic charity, Jameah Islamiyah, in the grounds of which The Observer understands the jailed cleric Abu Hamza secretly ran terror camps, training young militant Muslim men to use firearms.
...
A counter-terrorism official described the arrests as part of a 'new plank' of attack against Islamic terrorists in Britain, one that targets their 'upstream' activities. 'It is not just about disrupting specific plots,' the source said. 'It is about closing down their opportunities to plan these attacks. Those that set up terror training camps are very much in our sights.'
The source said they were not just talking about military-style camps, but bases where religious extremists 'bonded' and indoctrination took place preparing young extremists to become suicide bombers.
...
The Observer understands camps have operated in some of Britain's most isolated areas including Scotland, Wales and the Lake District. There has long been speculation that Abu Hamza operated a training camp in the Brecon Beacons in Wales and an unknown location in Scotland. At least two of the 7/7 bombers were known to have gone on white water trips in North Wales before their lethal attacks in London, and the use of activity-based training camps are suspected of playing a pivotal role in preparing young extremists.

good news.

Charles, Please reconsider removing the updates from the top of your page. LGF (and zombietime) are getting mentioned in quite a few op-eds in the last few days. (David Warren etc). Curious new readers are coming to LGF to read these links. Hope you reconsider. Thanks.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Those Doctored and Staged Photographs...But Were Afraid To Ask

23 mich-again  Sat, Sep 2, 2006 4:37:24pm

I'm still not convinced that Adnan Hajj did the actual photoshopping. I've always thought it was possible that the photo editing was going on at Reuters. After Charles and the others "smoked" Reuters out for the altered photos, they somehow came up with the unedited version. What did Hajj willingly send them his original jpg file after they threw him under the bus? That seems unlikely.

The way that Reuters pulled all those photos from the archives was kind of underhanded as well. Ideally we should have been able to sift through them all, looking for more clues. That would have been the ethical thing for Reuters to have done. Removing the photos was akin to destroying evidence.

In the end, I think Reuters was left pretty much unscathed. They blamed the fauxtographs on a rogue "stringer" and even claimed victim status in the whole thing. The way the whole thing started, they couldn't have written a better ending for themselves.

Its not just speculation to say that we see biased headlines, captions, and reporting from Reuters every single day. Is it then possible that they would go just a bit further and paint that same bias into the photographs that accompany their reporting? I think Adnan Hajj was their fall guy. And seeing as we haven't heard a peep from him since the scandal, I wouldn't doubt that Reuters gave him an envelope full of hush money to quietly take one for the team. His silence speaks volumes.

24 arier_Tzvi  Sat, Sep 2, 2006 4:43:02pm

Here is another update from Arutz Sheva newspaper of the fauxtography.
[Link: www.arutzsheva.com...]

One of the more interesting details featured in all the reports was that a missile had struck the exact center of the cross on the roof of one of the ambulances.

Now, however, accumulated evidence shows clearly that the incident never occurred - as has been the case in other media-hyped incidents placing Israel in a negative light.

List follows

Much of the evidence to this effect that has been collected thus far can be summarized as follows:
Other vehicles hit by Israeli missiles have been completely destroyed, as widely shown in photographs - but the ambulance in question merely has a hole in its pockmarked roof, a disarrayed interior, and broken or missing windows.
The hole in the top of the roof, upon closer inspection, is seen to have small screw holes around it at regular intervals - and was probably the location of an emergency light or siren that had been roughly removed.
The hole and marks in the roof are surrounded by rust, showing that the damage was weeks or months old.
The claim that a man had his leg blown off by the missile is belied by the lack of any blood in the ambulance.
The ambulance worker supposedly injured by the missile blast was seen just days later without a scratch.

This all can be followed on
