The Egyptian hate machine is still firing on all cylinders; today at MEMRI we have two disturbing new examples.

First, Anis Mansour in the Egyptian government daily Al-Ahram, describing the US treatment of Al Qaeda prisoners as “worse than prisoners under the Nazis.”

“The Americans transferred the prisoners from Afghanistan to the Guantanamo Bay base in Cuba. I saw this base in 1963, during the Tricontinental Conference in Havana. It’s a nice base. No one expected it to be turned into a base for torturing Al-Qa’ida members from Afghanistan, in a way unprecedented in history - worse than what Hitler did to his rivals from among the Jews and Christians.”

“Hitler’s soldiers burned, strangled, and then killed. But America’s prisoners were transferred in planes, on [a trip] lasting twenty hours.

He does have a point; I’ve been on a few 20-hour plane trips, and burning, strangling, and killing might have been preferable.

Then, showing that special affinity for the Nazis that distinguishes Arab media, Egyptian government weekly Akher Sa’a recently printed a lighthearted piece titled “The Jews are Bloodsuckers and Will Yet Conquer America.” The article includes a photocopy of a 1935 anti-semitic Nazi forgery alleging that Benjamin Franklin was a Jew-hater who warned a Constitutional Convention:

“A great danger threatens the United States of America. This great danger is the Jew…”

“For more than 1,700 years they have lamented their sorrowful state, namely that they have been driven out of their motherland, but, gentlemen, if the civilized world today should give them back Palestine, and their property, they would immediately find pressing reasons why they could not return there. Why? Because they are vampires, and vampires cannot live on other vampires… They must live among Christians and others who do not belong to their race.”

“If they are not excluded from the United States by the Constitution, within at least 100 years, they shall stream into this country in such numbers that they shall rule and destroy us and change our form of government for which we Americans shed our blood and sacrificed our lives, property, and personal freedom.”

“If the Jews are not excluded within 200 years, our children will be working in the fields to feed the Jews while they remain in the counting houses, gleefully rubbing their hands…”

For this we give them billions in foreign aid?
