LGF Flood Control Update
The floodgates are performing very well, and our plague of robots has subsided. It’s kind of cool; I can scan through the logs and actually spot the points at which the bots get shut down. There’s a burst of sudden activity from a proxy IP, hitting a certain page several times a second, then … nothing. B’bye.
On suggestion from several readers, any bots caught by our trap are first sent to a virtual tar pit, where they hang out waiting for an HTTP response for several minutes, then get a big nothing. Heh™.
(If you’re an LGF reader and you’re getting a long wait, then a blank page, and you’re not a robot, contact me and let me know what you were doing, so I can adjust the rules for our flood blocker.)
LGF: now with super shiny flood control!
