Fact-Checking the NY Times, Update 1

Since there was nothing in their Corrections section about it today, I’ve emailed the New York Times requesting a correction for their false reporting about LGF in this article: Hard Choices Over Video of Execution. Specifically, this section:

No national American television organization has thus far allowed the moment of the drop to be shown.

But the same niceties were not observed on numerous Web sites, which have posted the complete video, including the moment that Mr. Hussein, noose around his neck, falls, and a close-up of his face afterward. Some prominent sites, like Google’s video site and the conservative blog Littlegreenfootballs.com, have posted the complete cellphone coverage of the execution, including the moment Mr. Hussein falls from view.

UPDATE at 1/2/07 3:49:56 pm:

The New York Times’ false report has now been repeated by the San Francisco Chronicle: Hundreds pay homage as Hussein’s body goes home. (Hat tip: Killgore Trout.)

Hussein’s burial came as a two-minute clip of his hanging was widely
circulated among Iraqis and on Internet sites such as Google Video and the
conservative blog Littlegreenfootballs.com.

And to recap, the cellphone video of Saddam Hussein’s execution was never posted at Little Green Footballs.

 Frank says:

I feel it's better to sing about these things ourselves and perform them with the people who it happened to than to have some journalist one day say 'then in 1971, one time when they were at the mudshark hotel...' But people have problems with things of a glandular nature in connection with things of a musical nature. They say why, music is way up here, and glands are way down there and they can't get 'em together, but then they are hypocritical because they take a band that doesn't sing about such things directly and couches their language a little and does it with a little choreography and say that that's great and that's real rock and roll. I maintain that there's no difference, we're just honest enough to get up and say 'this is this and that's that and here you are and respond to it' and the response is 'why... I'm hip, but of course I am offended'.
