LGF Technical Update - Reuters Video Feeds 2

LGF now offers video on demand, thanks to Reuters’ decision to make some of their news video available through RSS: lgf: Reuters Video Feeds. There are some big improvements since I first launched this page yesterday; video operation has been debugged (no more simultaneous playback of different feeds), and playlists now begin immediately after clicking the category title in the top menu.

Also, the individual stories are now shown beneath the video window, and you can jump to any of them instantly by clicking. The little arrow at the right of each story title is a link to that story’s page at Reuters—their RSS terms of service say I have to provide that link (and I would anyway).

(So far I haven’t found the Flash variable that removes the “progressive” bias from their reports.)

UPDATE at 1/23/07 2:46:29 pm:

Looks like Reuters may have some sort of access metering that shuts down the video when it exceeds a certain number of views; the feeds have stopped feeding for now.

UPDATE at 1/23/07 4:38:01 pm:

It isn’t a bandwidth limitation; I accessed the feeds from other places and the links to the videos are removed there as well. I assume it’s something temporary.
