Hamas is whining again that the United States won’t give them money while they continue to murder Jews and advocate the destruction of Israel: Hamas says U.S. undermining Europeans on unity deal.

GAZA (Reuters) - The Islamic militant group Hamas accused the United States on Thursday of trying to thwart European efforts to ease an economic blockade of a new Palestinian unity government.

The so-called Quartet of Middle East mediators, comprising the United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations, repeated a demand on Wednesday that any Palestinian government renounce violence, recognize Israel and accept interim peace deals.

Though the unity government fell short of directly meeting those demands, Western diplomats said the agreement between Hamas and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction widened divisions within the Quartet.

The United States and Israel want to continue to shun the unity government; Russia and some other European governments favor a softer line.

Hamas cabinet spokesman Ghazi Hamad said the group, which took control of the Palestinian government in March after winning parliamentary elections, was encouraged by what it called a “wait and see” approach by the Quartet.

Citing divisions between the United States and some European countries over policy, Hamad said: “I believe there is a possibility to change the Quartet’s position in a more positive manner to deal with the government.”

While Hamas distracts the Europeans and Russians with this shiny happy diplomatic farce, back in the territories they’re calling for murder: Hamas’ military wing: Truce is over.

Hamas’s Qassam Brigades have declared an end to a ceasefire with Israel, according to a statement released on Wednesday evening.

The call to end the truce appeared on Hamas’s official website , in both English and Arabic, and is the first time in months that Palestinian armed forces directly under the control of the Hamas government openly threatened to attack Israel .

Abu Obaida, spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, said in the statement that “the truce with the Israeli occupation is no longer valid,” citing the “assassination of Islamic Jihad commander” Mahmoud Qassem as the reason.

Qassem was shot dead in the West Bank by Israeli Border Police on Tuesday, after security forces traced a foiled suicide bomb attack planned for Tel Aviv back to him. [No virgins for Qassem. —ed.]

In Hamas’ statement, Abu Obaida said: “This crime falls in line with a plan to liquidate Palestinian resistance in the West Bank in particular.”

“The Zionist enemy continues to try to separate between the Bank and Gaza, and we will not accept that. The assassination in Jenin comes as part of an attempt to take out the Palestinian resistance, especially in the West Bank. We demanded from the start that the ceasefire must include the entire homeland and not be divided at the enemy’s discretion,” he said.

Abu Obaida called for Palestinian organizations to “unite” and “retaliate” against Israel, saying that “the time has come to restore the honor of the Palestinian resistance.”
