Islamic terrorists tried to murder the Vice President of the United States today: Cheney OK after blast at Afghan base.

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - A suicide bomber attacked the entrance to the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan Tuesday during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney, killing up to 23 people and wounding 20. The Taliban claimed responsibility and said Cheney was the target.

Cheney’s spokeswoman said he was fine, and the vice president later met with President Hamid Karzai in the capital, Kabul, before leaving the country.

At the disgusting hate-hole that’s the only thing left of Metafilter, the kids are disappointed that the Taliban missed: Kaboom. These people are truly unhinged. (Hat tip: Steven.)

UPDATE at 2/27/07 8:16:02 am:

The Daily Kos Kidz are also disappointed that Cheney’s still alive, but they think it all might be a giant plot: Daily Kos: Oh crap! Cheney is about to get even more paranoid and insane!

This kind of sick, twisted thinking is everywhere in the “progressive” blogosphere. Michelle Malkin has more examples: Assassination chic, Cheney edition.

And it’s even sicker than it appears at first glance, because many of these freaks want to see Cheney dead so that he can’t become president if someone assassinates President Bush.

UPDATE at 2/27/07 8:22:09 am:

Compare this open desire for the assassination of US officials with the phony outrage expressed by the left when I posted a picture of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Bashar Assad, and the Ayatollah Khamenei with the title “Definition of a Target-Rich Environment.”

The original Digg link is here: Digg - Cheney OK After Islamic Attack, Metafilter Disappointed. Please use this link instead of the one below.

(Changing a title seems to make Digg think it’s a different post. I’ve now changed the way the Digg links are constructed to prevent this from happening again if I change a title.)
